Larsen's has a tremendous selection and I found their baked goods to be very tasty. The day I went in though the experience was very chaotic. Despite having a number system, they didn't use it and there was no line, just people wandering around, making it unclear who was waiting to order, who was looking around, and who was waiting for their order to complete. The pastries were also cold, not fresh out of the oven, which isn't a problem, but I wish they had asked if we wanted them heated up. Regardless, we'll be back next time we're in the area to try some other items.
I am very picky about cake. It's trickier than you think to get the right combination of moist cake, good flavor and tasty frosting. Larsen's Bakery did an amazing job for my kiddos birthday! I ordered a 6 slice (it was closer to 8 slices) round cake with lemon cake and a raspberry filling. I asked for sprinkles and balloons on top. It was decorated so cute and the cake tasted amazing. I ordered the cake about 1 week out- they took my order over the phone as I don't live nearby. I love their baked goods and if you happen to see a creme brûlée available- get it! I highly recommend them.
Our family favorite bakery for more than 50 years! We always buy Christmas Kringles for us and family, and don't stop with just those.
A large selection of pastries, including the famous Kringle. The Kringle is rather large so it's really kind of them to give it samples before you buy a whole kringle
You've just died and you're sitting there in the waiting room and you notice they're serving pastry. You see it has the Larsen's logo. You know you've ended up in the good place because their pastry is divine.
Larsen's is such a wonderful place. The smell is a combination of home and heaven. If you get there in the morning hours, you can watch the massive ovens baking and the baker's applying their art to flour, water, sugar, yeast, and whatever is in their imagination.
From traditional sweet and savory pastries to staples of homemade bread, they are simply one of the best places to go.
And their filled croissants are out of this world.
The Royale (they call it "royal croissant" , but it's definitely a Royale) is 37,000 layers of buttery crispy, moist, melt in your mouth dough, almond paste filling, glazed and allowed to caramelize, covered in toasted almonds and then to send you into a complete sated coma, sprinkled with powdered sugar.
It's a croissant you get cut into quarters because you can't manage the whole thing in one sitting unless you are a professional hedonist.
If you are within 10 miles of this bakery, it's worth every moment it takes to get there. Just go.
Went in looking for my grandmother's traditional Danish pastry, Kringle and kranzecake and they did not disappoint! Truely yummy and authentic Danish.
10/10/24: Kringle (4.75*, amazing), Spandau (4.75*), chocolate sprinkle donut (4*, decent but like any other donut).
We stopped here and got a few cookies. The chocolate chip cookie I got was really good! We didn't get a chance to sample a lot of things, but everything looked good and the service was friendly.
Please note that the lady bug cake photo is after it traveled 1700 miles by plane. The marzipan lady bug cake was EXCELLENT! I also had a lace cookie and a raspberry macaron. Both were tasty.
We stopped in the afternoon since we were in the area and loved this bakery. The employee who assisted us was so knowledgeable and friendly. We took forever to decide but finally settled on a few pastries, a slice of cake, and a tart of some kind. All delicious and definitely well priced. Highly recommend!
