Caffe Umbria

I had the best latte I’ve ever experienced here. However, the area has many homeless, and that’s no fault of the cafe. In my experience, I sat by the window and a homeless man who had been loitering out front came inside and sat next to me and stared, saying he wanted to get me to shut up. He proceeded to mumble incoherencies and it became clear he was schizo. He must’ve hallucinated me talking to him since he could see me in the window. As a sheltered suburb resident not used to this, it was concerning to me and I left. As I was leaving, Umbria staff was encouraging him to leave, so I appreciate that and it appears they were handling it as appropriately as possible. I would recommend, but wouldn’t recommend sitting by the window, as to minimize drawing attention to yourself from anybody outside. Maybe this is just a normal Seattle experience, but if you’re not accustomed to it then it may be concerning.

Fantastic way to start your day. Best quality coffee roasts prepared by professional baristas that clearly know their beans and how to treat them. Super friendly and efficient service. What else can you ask for? Oh yeah... Quality locally sourced foods from Macrina, La Spiga, Gelatiamo, etc. Why would you want to go anywhere else?

I love this location of Cafe Umbria set in Occidental Square which hosts pleasurable indoor and outdoor seating. Kind servers/baristas, excellent coffee quality and skilled preparation, quality pastries including a wonderful savory biscuit, as well as a low-key and relaxing atmosphere make it a fine place to get your morning started or afternoon pick-me-up. I’ve not tried their lunch items but do plan to check these out at a future visit.

I love the atmosphere of this place and best place to just people watch! Right when I entered I was welcome by the lovely staff. I believe their names were Michelle (similar to mine :) Soleil and Hannah! I have tried multiple things on the menu from pastries to ice/hot drinks and everything has been delicious. I have gone out my way just to try their handmade Pie pastry. The staff is just amazing which makes every visit wonderful.

Lovely coffee shop in an attractive location. Helpful customer service, and the matcha latte was excellent!!! The creamy foam on top was absolute perfection! It comes lightly sweetened, so I had no need to add any extra honey or syrups. The atmosphere is relaxed and spacious. There are standing tables near the front for a quick drink, and tables towards the back for a longer visit. The bathrooms aren't inside the shop, so you'll have to get the key from the register, and go down the hall. It's a bit of a maze, but follow the signs, and you'll be fine.
