Review Steelhead Diner - Seattle

Meg
This was my second visit and it was quite impressive. Perhaps one of the better versions of a crab cake that I have ever had anywhere. The halibut was absolutely delicious. The location is amazing near Pike Place Market. Friendly service. Recommend highly if you are interested in delicious and freshly prepared seafood that are slightly priced higher than other options.

3.5 stars. Came here on the recommendation from the Fish Market guys. Since it was a weekday lunch, we got seated immediately. Since it is located on the 2nd floor of the building, you can see the market and the water if you sit at the window. We got an appetizer and a main course to share. Food was good. The appetizer was hot smoker salmon with thin bread. The main course was a tomato based broth with seafood (clams, mussels, shrimp and fish) with pasta. The salmon was very very good. The bread was fresh, crunchy and tasty. The broth was definitely for 2 people, not one. We felt cheated a bit on the seafood contents because there was one shrimp and one small piece of fish. The bread accompanying it came with a mayo based sauce which was good. Place is kind of pricey. They add a 20% tip to the check and 60% of it goes to the server. That is a great idea. Just not sure about the 20%. Overall, decent food but would like to see more pieces of seafood in a plate that's supposed to be a seafood medley.

Delicious and fresh. Baked "macaroni" was so tasty and super cheesy! Halibut was perfect. Hubs loved his dish as well. Not a bad view of Puget Sound either

We held our law firm’s holiday dinner party and it went great. The service was very prompt and professional. The pours were generous. The food was excellent and served quickly.

4/16/19: Went for dinner and had a nice experience. Service was prompt and friendly. Dishes ordered: gumbo, fried chicken, cioppino, burrata pasta, roasted vegetables, mac and cheese, and strawberry rhubarb tart. Dishes were larger than expected. Burrata was not as creamy as hoped and the roasted vegetables could have used a bit more seasoning although they were roasted nicely. Cioppino did not disappoint. Lots of seafood variety in a flavorful broth that tasted of the ocean. The fried chicken came with 4 pieces sitting in brown gravy topped with sauteed spinach. Very good. Fried light and crisp, batter not heavy, and meat tender. The gravy was a very nice compliment. Finished dinner with the strawberry rhubarb tart. Very refreshing. Not too sweet.

Love it here! The atmosphere is so great you can come with friends , by yourself (like I did) or on a date and you will love it. The Bartender was awesome and so was the waiter and the host. I had a glass of white wine and tried the shrimp tater tots and the salmon dish. Everything was delicious. Make sure to get your salmon medium rare and enjoy. I heard their fried chicken is pretty good too!!

Absolutely awesome! We sat at the bar which was a pleasure as the bar staff were attentive and full of innovative drink combinations. The menu was fresh and completely difficult to choose as everything was intriguing. Atmosphere was great! Great views of the passersby. Just a great experience all the way around!

Upbeat relaxed atmosphere. Delicious eclectic menu including surf, turf, poultry, vegan The Steelhead Dinner offers a fantastic menu of one of a kind cocktails themed after northwest steelhead fishing flies. They're delicious! Prices are on the expensive side per plate with king salmon at 46 dollars excluding dinner salad. With views of Pike Place Market, Elliott Bay, the Olympic peninsula and post alley this place is location location location. The menu is served 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. which allows for transition from dinner into Seattle night life literally blocks away. Because of each menu item priced high I downgraded my 5 review to a 4. As an avid fisherman and foodie I know food prices. They are priced on the steep side. However, the food is masterfully prepared, presented, and taste is amazing. I will definitely be visiting again soon

Perfect place for lunch down by the market. The view is fantastic and the food is great as well. We were able to get in without a reservation but I think usually it's better to have one. Definitely recommend

Very yummy! Their crabcakes are amazing, yum, I want some more. Good wine, nice crowd, mellowish ambiance,. The place is family friendly, so if you want to take your kids out to eat seafood, then this is a good place for you. I hadn't seen kids in a while and I saw some here, is that weird? Anyway, I loved the salad I ordered too. I honestly would go back just for the salad. Ohh and by the way, Great service! Don't miss this "diner"

Located right in front of the Pike Place Market, Steelhead Diner is a nice restaurant to get some Pacific Northwest fare. Because of its touristy location the place is always very busy. Expect wait times even on weekdays. Wait times are in a way testimony to a restaurants goodness and this one is no different. The food is good. Service is not slow and the staff is very polite.

My favorite upscale diner in Seattle at Pike Place Market. Great location at Pine and Post Alley. Great service, the food does not disappoint. Must haves are the Painted Hills Grass Feed Beef Burger, Flash Fried Alaskan Rockfish Tacos, and the Sautéed Stream Raised Idaho Trout filet with sage and roasted pecan butter sauce and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Nice wine selection, and some tables have awesome views, with comfy seating throughout.

We ducked in to the Steelhead diner on a surprisingly sunny day in February, after rambling in a crowded Pike Place Market. The host was great, seating us near a window with a view of Post Alley and the Sound. Interesting Playlist, we liked it!, digging into the early 80s catalog. The Cioppino was a solid B/B+, great Brutus salad and nice wine list for a lunch menu. We were an even split in 3 vs. 4 star rating. The steak salads seemed to be too heavily dressed, and the fish and chips a bit heavy on the heavy on the breading. But the steak was perfect, and the fish fresh and tasty. What are you gonna do? One thing we agreed on, the acoustics are great! We could actually enjoy the meal and enjoy our conversation.

This is my hands-down favorite restaurant. The Alaskan King Salmon is always top-notch and the halibut is superb. You just can't go wrong here.

Found this place by chance as the entrance of the restaurant is not very prominent however the food blowed us off! The Pike Place Cioppino was so flavorful and the fish and chips was so crispy with generous portion!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, up from to Pike Place Market. Indoor outdoor seating. Open and spacious environment with views of the sound. Very good selection of food dishes.
