We heard about RN74 through Food and Wine magazine, and went for a celebratory birthday dinner (we didn't tell the staff that). The food and services exceeded our expectations and we would come back again. Details below.
Arrival: the hostess was gracious and seated us right away (we had a reservation)
Drinks: RN74 Maple Manhattan, Downtown Donkey, and John C. Holgate (excellent drinks- each one was flavorable and the amount of alcohol was perfect)
Hors D'oeuvres: Hudson Valley Foie Grasterrine (beautiful presentation and the foie grasterinne had a very rich creamy taste, and it paired well with strawberry and rhubarb) &
Escargots a la Bordelaise (careful- it's hot to touch, but the buttery, garlicky flavor made me wanted more)
Main dishes: 8 oz Meyer Ranch Filet (duck fat frites was amazing) & Anderson Valley Lamb Saddle (I don't usually order lamb, but this dish exceeded my expectation- favorable and delicious, I would order again)
Sides: Truffled macaroni and cheese (the best I've ever had as compared to other places, love it)
Services: Our server was attentative and very poised, and she did a great job taking care of us. Busser was friendly and empty plates were taken away in timely manner. The hostess came by to check on us. Excellent team of staff- very impressive.
Cost: It's expensive, but worth the experience. I would say for those who bring a large group to not have too high of an expectation of having a quick service. The quality of food are fantastic and I can imagine the chef took extra attention to make each dish perfect for all guests. Great place for couples and small groups.
My absolutely favorite restaurant in town. Original flavor compositions I would never dreamed of. They wait and bar staff felt like old friends, and truly interacted as so. I may have had a minor fan girl moment when the head chef stopped at our table. Love this place.
If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. Just top notch food, service, presentation. Everything was beyond expectation. The fois gras was the best I have ever had.
Amazing food!!!! Had the most perfectly cooked, juicy & tender chicken I’ve ever eaten. Awesome service. Super fun bar & staff. A must visit in DT Seattle 👍🏼
Bar service was perfect. Explained the flavor profile and they made me a spectacular drink. Now have a new favorite cocktail!! Love this space!
Good drinks, good foot, best « sauce béarnaise » ever tested and I am french...
Excellent Wine list.

Best Prawns I’ve ever eaten!!! Service was wonderful, wine selection was spectacular
Just a wonderful place for a great meal and a great bottle of wine. Fantastic for a romantic date night or a special gathering
This place was absolutely amazing. Loved the staff and the chef!
Just had a 40th birthday celebration here.... such an amazing event! Emily was so helpful in planning and was so easy to work with. The food, the service, the space...Everything was absolutely dynamite! Thank you so much for a memorable night.
The food was delicious, and wine selection was incredible! Definitely coming back again
Fun atmosphere, nice service, great location near the 5th Avenue Theatre right downtown, good wine list and more.
The duck was extraordinary! Actually, start to finish, a fantastic meal!
Thank you Ashley, Elana, Thomas and the whole staff. Had an amazing and memorable 25th anniversary dinner.
Love it! We caught happy hour and had a delicious late lunch. The drinks look good too, but we did not have a chance to try this time. I will be coming back to try some drinks as well as their dinner entrees. I came for escargots, but they weren’t available for happy hour this time. All the dishes we ordered had fresh ingredients, creative flavors, and overall delicious.
Food is fantastic. We had the bone marrow, pork chop, Mary’s chicken, and chocolate mousse. The pork chop is slightly too raw to us even we asked for well-done. Nonetheless the quality is top notch and we will definitely come back for the long wine list and extraordinary food.
What an amazing dinner!!! My girlfriend and I went there last week and the food was phenomenal. We always try to have an experience when we go out and it was easy to do here. We ended up going with the tasting menu and putting our dinner in the hands of RN74's chef. When it comes to the food, it was a good balance between adventure and flavor. We both tried new things and thoroughly enjoyed everything we had.
The food was extraordinary. I had their cocktail made with Four Roses Bourbon and Pinot Noir reduction syrup. It was light yet super flavorful...I had three of them that night. We had their raw oysters and they came with a light vinegar sauce that was a perfect complement to the oysters (as opposed to cocktail sauce which covers up the oyster flavor).
For entrees we tried their halibut and pork. The presentation on the halibut was unique. The halibut was a full filet but was sitting in a saffron based bouillabaisse with clams, calamari and mussels. It came with a toasted piece of sourdough on top which I used to soak up the saffron sauce once the seafood was gone. I am a fan of bouillabaisse but it's easy to overcook the seafood. By cooking the halibut separately and adding it to the bouillabaisse at the end the fish stayed perfectly cooked. Kudos to the chef.
The pork was bone in and fork tender. My only complaint was even though the pork was very juicy it didnt have as much flavor. It came with grits and brussel sprouts. My date loved it and finished it. Maybe the saffron sauce from my entree was so good the pork didnt seem as flavorful in comparison. Both entrees were consumed in their entirety.
We were too full for dessert although the beniets looked good.
Service was a team effort and was good. The bar got a little backed up making drinks but it was a busy Saturday night in prime time so we weren't concerned.
We will definitely eat at this restaurant again.
Visit during Seattle restaurant week. Food was delicious. Bigger than expected portions so you wont go hungry. Service was fine if a tad formal for me. But that's just me ... very fine dinner.
A very cosy setup, kind of an old fashion style and very comfortable. For happy hour, the menu is not that extensive but what they have is well executed and fantastic quality and taste. Service was efficient and friendly. This was #1 in our three part happy hour crawl for the evening.

Took my boyfriend out to dinner here for a special occasion. The restaurant is a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. Our waitress was very nice and the food was awesome. We had such a fantastic experience here. For an appetizer we ordered the tuna tartare. they mixed it up table side. This dish is crazy good! One of the best tuna tartare I've had. I ordered the Pan Roasted Hatcher Chicken. The chicken was amazing! So much flavor. The mushrooms were too salty and the "gnocchi" was not really gnocchi. They were good, but just not gnocchi. My boyfriend got the steak frites and he absolutely loved it. The fries were some of the best fries we've had in a long time! Super crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside with a great garlic flavor. For dessert we got the apple tartin. perfect size! The thing I didn't like was it had a very strong burnt taste to it, like the caramel was burnt. I could not figure out where it was coming from. It kind of ruined the dish for me. Will definitely be going back!
Great french restaurant. They have awesome collection of wines, they also have wine expert available in restaurant who can recommend food and wine combinations. Few friends ordered steak and few did fish, as they said all were great in taste. There were few vegiterian options were also available. Awesome food and excellent wines. This restaurant is on luxury side. So you should be ready to spend $$$.
I highly recommend getting the "experience". It's definitely pricy, but it's well worth it. The only other restaurant that comes close for me (so far) is the Inn at Langley, which is quite a bit more expensive and a much different atmosphere. The food was cooked perfectly, I very much enjoyed foods that I generally dislike, and I ate too much bread... Be patient, they serve a lot of food and we were totally stuffed at the end.
One of the best tasting menus in Seattle when chef Ben Godwin was charge ( I haven't been back yet to try the menu under the new chef). The deconstructed clam chowder and the strawberry rhubarb tarts are two of my all-time favorite dishes. The truffle rolls are really good.
Wow. This spot is great - low key, but a little fancy!! Great flavors and the lobster is a must add on side dish. Above average fries and delicious cocktails. They have a really cool (and loud) wine reader board for LAST CHANCE bottles of wine - v cool!!!
Went for happy hour; had the mussels, the duck frites, and the mushroom fritters which were excellent. (Frankly, they were so eye-catching, I forgot to take a photo of them). The duck fries were amazing, and the mushroom fritters were reminiscent of tempura style -- and don't forget to try the sauces. The mussels weren't as consistent as I would have liked (4 stars?) but the broth was good. In terms of the entrees, the cod and the chicken were ordered. The cod was excellent and worth reordering; the chicken was not as impressive. Both sides were fantastic.
Great food, I had their pork belly sliders and a hard cider. They were so good. The service was phenomenal and improved my experience beyond food. I would recommend to anyone visiting Seattle to splurge on dinner here. I came back with my fiance the next day and got the burger royale and their dulce de leche cream puffs. SO GOOD.
We have passed this restaurant for many months and decided to try it out for V-Day. We got snowed in and had to reschedule our visit. So glad we did! You must try out this amazing RN74! The drinks were perfection and the food was to die for. You have got to eat the bone marrow and try the juicy steak. Of course we didn’t leave room for dessert, but now we have a reason to return and tackle the mousse. Must eat here! The ambiance is not too loud and perfect for an intimate date or enjoy a party of friends. #contentawarephotography check out my Instagram.
We returned for appetizers and drinks. Still amazing and delicious.
Great service and atomsphere. Even on a busy night where there was a bit of a draft for my partner and they couldn't switch tables, they brought in a heater so that my partner wouldn't be cold.
Food was superb!
Hands down one of the best steak frites I’ve ever had (and I’ve had quite a few!). NY strip was cooked a perfect med-rare, and the fries were cooked in duck fat, and perfectly crisp on the outside while hot and gooey on the inside. Definitely pricey, but really great bistro ambiance.
Service was great. Atmosphere was very cozy. Chicken was a bit dry but the Mac and cheese was fantastic
Superb Supper at RN74. Tonight I enjoyed an early evening dinner in the bar of this wonderful, posh, busy upscale restaurant in downtown Seattle. Bar service was spot on, friendly, and efficient. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Dinner of lobster bisque, salad and dessert were a bit pricey but well worth it. I highly recommend a meal here.
