Review Canlis Restaurant - Seattle

We went to Canlis for a special occasion and the overall experience was good though not excellent. I made reservation as soon as it is allowed, about two months in advance. The valet experience was the most impressive one. We arrived and the valet staff did not ask for our names nor did they give us a ticket for retrieving our vehicle as many other places do it. You literally just drop off your car and enter the restaurant. We were seating shortly after our arrival. The pace was a little slow since it took quite some time before we were able to place order for our drinks. The food was good both in terms of taste and presentation from a restaurant at this price point. I felt a little disappointed because nothing was surprising, except the battered squash. The food, presentation seemed to be influenced by Japanese cuisine and I felt maybe even a little too much. Overall I would say this is a good place for special occasions but I think it has room for improvements.

Absolutely amazing experience here! The food was fantastic, there were 3 mystery courses, a pallette cleanser and 3 courses you choose. Each course was well thought out and complimented each other. Each of our party's dietary restrictions were carefully accounted for and their drinks were especially flavorful. But my 5 star review is mainly because our server, Forest was who made this my absolute favorite fine dining experience. He was amazing to talk to and her very in depth knowledge of the restaurant and the dishes. He was very accomodating to our needs and overall a delight. This will be my staple place to visit whenever I'm in the area.

Visited here for my promotion. It was the first time we have visited Canlis. I loved every moment of the experience. I was so full. They do not do wine pairings but your waiter is happy to pair different wines with your courses based on how many beverages you want to enjoy. The views are stunning day and night. We will definitely come back for a special occasion.

I was here for my birthday after countless attempts of getting a reservation previous years during a time that was on a suitable date. You'll need to plan at least 2 months in advance, but it certainly won't disappoint. Service and food were phenomenal. The atmosphere is a nice combination of cozy and trendy. We went at night but I believe day time might be better for the view. Some key things I learned after my first time at Canlis: 7 course meal is preset (with some selections you can choose in between with no alterations) so definitely look at the menu online incase of picky eaters or dietary restrictions, parking is Valet ONLY, make sure to plan extremely early in advance to get a time/day you want. I looked 2 months in advance and managed to find a time slot that fit my needs!

Camille, Grace and the rest of the staff guided us through a magical meal. They took into account my many and irritating dietary restrictions and created an experience that was specific to me. My husband enjoyed his meal tremendously as well. Camille brought us wine and cocktail pairings that were unbelievable and perfectly matched to the eight courses of our dinner. This was exactly the experience I needed. The pianist was magnificent. Everything was elegant and beautiful. I am an extremely grateful man to have experienced such a beautiful, rich and luxurious evening.

Superb fine dining experience. Seven course meal where it’s chef’s voice for four courses and you have three options per course for the other three. Each portion is small but a fantastic rhythm between the courses of sweet and savory. It’s truly an experience for a special occasion. Our servers were very knowledgeable for all the food and wines- and service is quite high. When my wife left to use the ladies room, a server walked by her napkin laying on her seat, saw it and refolded it before placing it back on the table. Between each guest, the staff also used an iron on the tablecloth to ensure the pristine tables were kept in their high quality condition. Live piano was playing throughout the evening with a mix of older and modern songs, and the views over Seattle and lake Union were lovely. We loved the coulette! Valet service was used for the cars and we only had to wait a minute or so for the car to arrive when leaving.

This is the best dining experience you’ll ever have! Our server, Camille, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable on the menu, drinks and she made us laugh! We enjoyed a delicious meal and overall felt the experience was well worth the price. Valet service was really nice, too. Top notch dining experience for a special occasion!

Fantastic birthday dinner celebrated here with my family. Great staff; professional, attentive, kind, and a well-presented and thought out 6-course meal. Beautiful ambiance with a lovely view. Will return.

It had been quite a while since my last visit to Canlis. However, I chose to return last night to raise a toast in celebration of my birthday. We had a delightful evening, lounging in the lounge area and enjoying the live music. While a couple of the drinks turned out sweeter than I preferred, prompting me to switch to wine instead. The service was excellent overall, and the atmosphere was as wonderful as ever. Just keep in mind that seating in the lounge area operates on a first-come, first-served basis!

If you haven't been to this classic and classy spot, you should. From the front door to dinner and back I felt incredibly taken care of. Most of our group had never been before and weren't sure what to expect. The 7 course meal was innovative and well executed. The service was outstanding and having someone to walk through each dish was welcomed. Big thanks to all who showed us around made our night just that much better! Special thanks to Kelsey 10/10 will definitely go back

Hands down, the best upscale restaurant in Seattle. This is as close as Michelin Star you'll get. Caveat, as a guy, you need to dress here. At least a blazer. No T-shirt only, no hats. If you come here, the only thing you wanna get is the tasting menu. Pricey but really that's why you go here.

Had a phenomenal dining experience at Canlis! We had been trying to make reservations for a while, and on a whim, checked the availability the day of — were able to get a table in the evening! We arrived and the valet was extremely convenient. We didn’t have to give them our name, take a ticket or anything — and at the end or the night magically had our car waiting for us out front. Wild and amazing service!! We were seated not quiet along the windows, but against the backed wall area overlooking the windows. It was still an amazing view especially at sunset. Our waitress was Wendy — incredibly sweet woman and we loved having her that evening. Every single dish was incredible. I can’t describe how our taste buds were surprised and delighted every single time. Loved the option to choose three of our courses while the chef had a few surprises to offer us as well. I will say I thought the dessert I chose was a little overbearing — I got the dark chocolate sorbet. It was so great on the first and second bite but became a bit much after that. My husband got the smoked cacao which was indescribable — would highly recommend that dessert to anyone. Our sommelier Ally was so great — helped us select a perfect wine that hubby and I both loved. I WILL say, was somewhat disappointed when I looked the wine up and found it around $55-$70 online but the restaurant charged us $190 for it. Guess that comes with the territory with fine dining. Overall 10/10 and a dining experience I would recommend to anyone in Seattle if given the opportunity.

It’s a Seattle institution for a reason. They really know what they’re doing here. Canlis in my opinion does more with a little less in comparison to other fine dining experiences. Is it pricey? Yes. Do you feel *managed*? A bit. The whole experience is tailored and they have pretty much every bite down to a science. You’re along for the ride. Great bar area to gather before you dine. Every single person on the waitstaff moves with purpose and is incredibly knowledgeable. Wine list is expansive. I won’t try to rob you too much of the experience. If you’re on the fence, it’s worth it for a special occasion. Enjoy.

This is one of the most elegant fine dining experiences in the Pacific Northwest. From valet parking, service, food, and atmosphere, this was outstanding. I had reservations for the private dining room for my wife and myself in the Cache room, and we were very well taken care of. The food was outstanding, and the presentation, flavors, and plays on textures made us think of this meal for days after. Thank you to the Chef and staff for such a memorable experience!!!

One of the most memorable dining experiences of my life! Exquisite attention to detail. Lovely staff. The food was mind blowing. I cannot recommend Canlis enough, for a fine dining experience. Our waiter, Jeff, was such a pleasure! He was attentive and walked us through the experience every step of the way. I only wish I could come enjoy this regularly.

This was my second time at Canlis and both experiences were amazing. The service is a well oiled machine and the food impressive. Truly a wonderful experience overall and a perfect place for a celebration or just a classy night out.
