Last night, my family and I had dinner at Musu Sushi in Sea Cliff. It's a pop-up restaurant that's only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. I had read about this restaurant in the local newspaper yesterday afternoon, and was intrigued about the story behind it. Their Executive Sushi Chef (Roy Kurinawan) had to leave for Japan and ended up staying in Japan for an extended time. The restaurant decided that they wanted only him at the helm, so they closed down until he returned. I thought to myself, "He must be REALLY GOOD for them to wait for him like that." And yes, the food was delicious! The sushi selection was fresh, the fish to rice ratio was perfect, the vinegar flavor of the sushi rice was subtly apparent, and everything was carefully and nicely presented. They had two sushi specials: seared salmon toro and medium grade bluefin tuna toro. We ordered both and they were fantastic! Just two suggestions I have for them is (1) I wish they served grated wasabi from the root; and (2) among their sugar cane soda options I wish they had Cola - (I know, I'm one of those who drinks Coke with my sushi instead of sake). I'm always on the lookout for the best (not run-of-the-mill) sushi restaurants in Long Island, and I can see Musu becoming one of my go-to places.

Delicious food very fresh , cozy place , the only thing is they give you 1.5 hr to seat , it’s not like they telling you to go nah , I really love this place
I've never been one for trying new sushi rolls but Musu, hands down, has the best sushi my husband and I have ever eaten. It's always so fresh and the combination of flavors are awesome. Highly recommend the Phish sandwich and Judy's comet. Plus, if they have a special roll of the day, just get it!!!
Best sushi restaurant on Long Island - actually, one of the best restaurants in New York! The sushi is fabulous, and the menu is innovative and varied. Fabulous, cozy atmosphere and excellent staff!
Sushi is excellent. Staff work very hard to please. Place is rather small & tight, but I get it. Will go back there again, but with a smaller group.

Insanely good sushi and great atmosphere! Our friend told us to got to Musu for a food orgasm. He was right :)

Thank you so much Melisa & Alan for the tasty treats you brought us last night. The Phish Sandwich was outrageous. We can't wait to come and try the other mouth watering offerings on the menu.
We sat at the bar, it was comfortable and people were friendly. Staff was super nice and delicious popcorn treat and refills were generous. Every thing we ordered was prepared like a fine work of art, with a taste of perfection in every single bite.
Let me tell you! This place has such unique intensely delicious food. The dishes had so many different flavors meshed together for a very unique palette experience. Will definitely return to try more. Dishes were like bursts of orange, flavor, soy sauce, fish, truffle oil, etc and so much more in one bite. So good!!!
Still savoring our first experience. Each morsel pleasing, clean and complete. Innovative and eclectic without pretense. A brief chat with the owners made it intimate. Best dining experience on LI.
Update: another phenomenal meal at this intimate, incredible place. What a menu and what a Chef! Cannot wait to return.
Delightful! Staff very helpful with food choices. Drink menu fun. Atmosphere was quaint. Food was unique and delicious.
Delicouis sushi. Great ambiance and service. They use real crab not the gross immitation stuff. They have all kinds of Saki you will want to try them all. A must try.
