The two chefs Jiro and Mo (Mo is the owner) are incredible, they want you to have not only a great meal but a great experience as well. They are genuine and happy and eating here is always a great experience

Hands down the best Japanese restaurant. Highly recommended if you are a true sushi connoisseur!

I've been coming to this place for years. Rarely do you have to wait for a table or a seat at the sushi bar, but that doesn't mean it's not popular or good. The sushi is as fresh as it comes, tastes delicious, and the chefs are all friendly and very skilled. Great atmosphere too. Come As You Are!

Amazing Experience! Great staff!
Super fresh fish, and great kitchen menu.
I sat at the bar by the owners area, he treated me to many items not on the basic menu, a real taste treat. The other chef down the bar was entertaining customers with smooth service and witty banter. A must go for excellent sushi experience.

This is the absolute best sushi you will have. This isn't a casual sushi joint. You will pay higher prices, but will get the expertise of a great sushi chef and the best quality fish your money can buy. They have O-Toro cuts, which are absolutely excellent. They also have wagyu beef, a near life-changing steak experience (but also wallet changing). This place actually saved/ruined my life as the standard for how sushi should be done is now raised much higher.

Toyama has been my "GO TO" Sushi restaurant since the owner "Mo" opened nearly 15 years ago. Great service and top quality/freshness of the fish and other menu items. One visit and you'll be convinced this is the only place to go for top quality Japanese cusine.

Absolutely fantastic!! If you are looking for a true authentic sushi restaurant, this is the place. We've had sushi throughout the valley and Toyama is by far the best. When I eat raw anything I look for quality, freshness and experience...And that is exactly what you can expect at Toyama.

What a find! Chef Mo had received in a large cut of fresh blue fin tuna toro. I recommend the toro and Japanese uni handrolls, they are amazingly delicious. Prepared just so, they melt in your mouth. A must if you are in the area and enjoy great sushi.

Mo is awesome... Personable... Remembers you even after years of not visiting. Some of the best fish you will ever have. Everything is superb... And prices reflect the quality of what you are getting. If you want cheap, low quality sushi, go somewhere else... You want high quality, amazing food... Visit Mo!

Best Sushi. I have been to some sushi places in my time San Francisco, Las Vegas and San Diego but Mo and Hiro do it better than any of them. The best quality and traditional Japanese courses you can't find in many places in Phoenix. Very creative with the omikases plates which you should order instead off the menu. You would be wasting your time if all you order are California rolls and tempura here. These guys are truly artisans in the sushi craft so take the plunge and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Sushi chef is the owner. He is from Toyoma, Japan, and if yoy sir at the sushi bar, he will chat as he prepares the sushi. Very delicious food, great service, friendly relaxed atmosphere.

One of the best sushi places I have been to in Arizona. Appetizers were great, sushi was awesome as well.

Never a bad meal there. Moe is very consistent and the selection of sashimi is amazing and fresh.

The best in North Scottsdale. Moe, the owner is great along with the rest.
Ask for something special and they can do it. Ask to be surprised you will be.
