Review Brio Tuscan Grille - Scottsdale

1st time here. The place is really nice inside. You can also get a private room to host birthdays and other events here. Also they take reservations. They give u complementary bread and butter. Also complementary birthday ice cream. I got the chicken milanese. It was delicious! They had some time of white sauce and it was good with angel pasta. They also had a red sauce and it was delicious. Definitely would get this dish again. We also got the chocolate cake and it was delicious. It was like a hot cake with ice cream on top. So good but small. My friends got other dishes like the pesto pasta, and she was still hungry. Not a lot of food on the big plates but the chicken milanese was a good portion. They also have a patio outside. For parking there’s either valet or a parking garage.

Food was delicious. Our server Wes was friendly and helpful. A really good Happy hour. And they just rolled out a new menu, like 3 days ago😛👍

We got married 2 days ago and went here for part of our honeymoon. Drew took amazing care of us and gave us a special dessert as a congratulations! He seriously was one of the best servers we have ever had! It was a fantastic experience with amazing food. We will definitely be back!

Very ambient place and good food. Portions are generous and nicely presented. I had the lasagne.

Incredible food and the atmosphere is great.

Nice. Very nice. I didn't feel like an outsider. Services were top and the meal. Wonderful experience. I'll be going again and I'll recommend it to my friends

Very nice place for an outdoor lunch. Ingredients we're fresh, well prepared and very tastefully presented.

Great food and service. Layout is nice, you don't feel cramped at all - and they have lots of areas for big groups. Well maintained bathrooms and the staff is super courteous when you're walking by - always stepping aside and saying hello. Valet is fast and convenient, because there isn't many spaces in the garage across the way. Definitely going again!

Had a team in for a workshop last week. This was their favorite dinner. Sat in the bar at a high top for six! Great food, the best service (outstanding!!), and great environment! Would strongly recommend Brio to locals and visitors alike! Happy hour bar menu is vast in selections and incredibly reasonable! Great experience overall!

We just had a party in their group dining area. The staff went out of their way to make the food presentation beautiful. We ordered several appetizers, pasta, and a salad. From start to finish the customer service was excellent. Kayla and Matt returned emails and messages immediately during the planning of our event. I arrived almost an hour early to mildly decorate, and the staff was busy setting up tables and food warmers. I can't believe I was worried about the size of the fruit and vegetable platters, they were beyond expectation! The food was ready perfectly on time for our guests and our server Mark (a true professional) managed to keep 30 water glasses always full, and was there for our every need. I would recommend Brio for any event, thank you for making our baby shower so special! (I usually don't write reviews, but this was such a great experience I felt like I needed to!)

Expect very good Gourmet Italian...

A wonderful gastronomic experience, that I would not hesitate to recommend to any with a discerning palate, and a hearty appetite, as their servings are extremely generous. We could not fault the service, and were particularly impressed when the waiter cautioned us against inadvertently ordering too much food, due to our lack of local knowledge of terminology. The atmosphere, though loudish, only added to the overall evenings experience which was thoroughly enjoyed by all in our party. 😀👍 A great night.

I enjoy the happy hour. Food is always tasty! Update: It's a shame they changed the menu because their happy hour burger was really good. It is no longer offered unfortunately. The patio is nice, good people and car watching and the food is always good. I would go again but not rushing back as quick as I would have in the past. From what I hear, many people are upset they took the burger off the menu. :(

My friend celebrated her birthday here and our group had the most attentive server who was a younger girl. The food came put great. Their pastas are fantastic and their cheesecake made with mascarpone cheese is the best cheesecake I've had. Great ambiance.

Friends and I went there for happy hour. We had a group of 10 and the waiter was very accommodating for Separate Checks. He kept up with the demands of all our group. And the food and drinks were wonderful.

Came here for lunch in the middle of doing some shopping during Christmas week. Was surprisingly quiet and as a result was seated very quickly.

Service was a bit slow to start, might have been associated with us sitting on the patio. Once service started, it was good. Food was what you can come to expect at Brio, delicious! The real star of the show is the calamari. Fried lightly and was perfectly cooked.

While visiting Scottsdale we chose this restaurant because of the reviews. Entering the restaurant you will find a large open room with a nice bar area very well decorated and looking like a chain. The waiter was friendly and timely but very new and learning. We started with Caesar salads and they were very good. Then I had the whitefish special of the day and my wife had the pesto pasta dish and my daughter had the Pork chop. The fish was flavorless and bland, the pesto pasta dish was missing the pesto and the pork chop was ok. The mashed potatoes were good though... I ordered a Manhattan and they were out of sweet vermouth and substituted cherry juice and that was a mistake. For $140 I sure expected a LOT more. We wanted dessert but just didn't believe they could deliver.

I had the Pasta Brio - a creamy rigatoni dish with chicken. It was sooo delicious!! They had a pretty decent menu of seafood dishes on there as well. I also had the Berry Lemonade with the sugar rim. Very sweet but I love sweet drinks. For dessert I had a few bites of someone else's Lava cake. The cake was soft and warm, and it came with gelato ice cream on top with some raspberries on the side. Definitely a delight!!Waiters were great, tables were nice, the whole experience was really pleasing. I would recommend to anyone and can't wait to go back.

Great food waiter was out to lunch. Amazing food and atmosphere, however our waiter almost never checked on us and forgot all the items we asked after our meal showed up. Like dressing for thr salad. Gotta love a dry salad!

Nice Italian Eatery. Ate here with esposa and our two daughters. It was a beautiful Scottsdale afternoon, so we sat outside. Our server was top-notch from start to finish: witty, personable, and knowledgeable. Ambiance is nice and comfortable. Menu offers a nice array of Italian offerings. Everything was very nicely presented, fresh, hot, and flavorful. Wine list is a bit limited, but has excellent choices. OVERALL: VERY GOOD. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great Italian. From beginning to end, we had a very nice experience here. Self-parking is convenient and free. Lobby is spacious. Nice outdoor patio with fire pits. Espresso bar is very nice. Bar is average. Breakfast buffet was insanely overpriced at $20 per person, especially with several top-notch breakfast restaurants within a 5-minute drive. Room was very large, clean and comfortable. Military discount was about 50% off and much appreciated.

Recent Sunday diner at Scottsdale location. We were looking for a nice Sunday brunch with relatives. Terrible food- embarrassing.
My cousins couldn't even eat the eggs and bacon. The bread in the Eggs Benedict was a hard hockey puck(microwaved?) the Canadian bacon had a huge swath og greasy fat attached. My vege omlette was vegetables placed in an overcooked hard egg. Neighboring tables had puzzled unhappy diners also. We paid and left a tip but won't ever return. So very disappointed

Pure Quality. When it comes to dining, Brio offers the best quality of food, service and ambiance in Scottsdale...and it's affordable. I dine here multiple times a year and have never had a bad experience. They offer a massive variety of options off the menu that are all under $15. On our most recent visit, we had the Margarita Flatbread ($13.15), Caesar Salad with added grilled chicken ($8.24), Bruschetta ($14.95), Pasta Brio ($14.35) and a kids salmon ($6.95). Everything was cooked to perfection and we each had enough food leftover to take home after a very filling meal.

If you get the chance, head there during happy hour as they have a wide selection of appetizers offered at discounted prices and you still get a huge portion.

Great atmosphere, great service, and great food! Accommodated our very large group to celebrate a graduation. Staff was so nice, and server took pics of our group for us and was friendly. Beautiful decor. We sampled many appetizers, and the flat bread pizza was so good. My pasta pesto entree with chicken, spinach, and roasted tomatoes was delicious!

Food was flavorful and portions were big. The side salads were a good size as well. The chairs were outdated and hard to pull out from under the table. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend it especially for large groups.

Great Experience. Went for lunch - food and service were spectacular. The deserts are especially good and topped off a wonderful meal. One of the best Italian spots in Scottsdale!

Great Happy Hour, amazing menu selections at unbeatable prices. Try the Carpaccio and Grilled & Eggplant.

Enjoyable Evening. Three of us went for dinner Thursday evening. I agree that it is an Americanized version of Italian but that isn't always bad if done well and we all enjoyed our meal so it was successful from that perspective. Service was very good. The waitress was soft spoken but very pleasant and helpful in ordering.
We started with an Appetizer of Bruschetta Quattro which was excellent. Flavor combinations were really good.
I didn't think much of the presentation of my friends entree's but they both said they thought it was good. I had the Beef Medallions with grilled Shrimp. I ordered medium rare but the beef was a solid medium. However, full of flavor and tender as could be. The shrimp were pretty small and I was expecting them to be overcooked but was pleasantly surprised they were cooked well and very tasty. As was the Orzo with Vegetables.
I had the Creme Brûlée for dessert. It's presented with a 1/2 a strawberry on top. I had requested it without the strawberry. They just popped it off (the hardened sugar was missing when they presented it) indicating these were just pulled from the cooler on order. The bowl and pudding were both cold to the touch as well. The pudding was also firmer than it should have been but was tasty.
The food was good. Not 4 start but solid. The atmosphere was pleasant and service very good. Overall we all had a very nice evening and the meal (despite its flaws) was a success.

This large, noisy restaurant offers a fairly standard menu of Americanized northern Italian fare. The food is good--not great, but the portions are reasonable (not gargantuan). The service was a bit uneven. A waiter brought us some bread, then whisked it away to another table without comment. Our waiter, who was pleasant, apologized and then brought another basket after several minutes' wait. The coffee came about ten minutes before the rest of dessert. Getting the check, handing in my credit card, and getting it back was also slow. If you want a basic meal and aren't in too great a hurry, this is a good choice for dinner.

Happy Hour food is very good & good value. We went with 8 girls & ordered every item on the HH menu plus more. Yummy!!! I have to say though out service was not anything to write home about. All in all good food!

Delicious. This was our first time at the Scottsdale location. We have been once to Gilbert . Both experiences were great.
Friendly and helpful wait staff.

The food was great! The meat was tender and full of flavor. The vegetables were prepared perfectly. Lasagna was great. Good portions. Prices are on the high side but after your first bite- who cares.

We finished with the dessert sampler with bread pudding, creme brûlée and cheesecake. All were sooo good.

Good for me. I wasn't sure what to expect based on some negative reviews yet I had to find out and stopped there for lunch.

We were greeted at the door by an enthusiastic staff and were seated quickly, at that time our waiter introduced himself and explained the features of the day and took our drink orders. Our drinks were brought to our table and we were given the "bread" which consisted of a tasty very crunchy flat bread as well as delicious artisan bread accompanied by butter.

We chose an appetizers listed Roasted Garlic, Spinach & Artichoke Dip Served bubbling hot with Parmesan flatbread 8.95

We dug in I thought out loud where is the flavor, it was rather bland and we pushed it aside and waited for our entrees to arrive.

I ordered the fish of the day, Mahi with grilled vegetables drizzled with a lemon pesto sause 13.95.
My wife ordered Shrimp Fra Diavolo Penne with shrimp and a spicy tomato cream sauce and green onions 14.95

We didn't have long to wait and our meals arrived, what a difference the entrees were wonderful the fish was tasty and not overcooked and the veggies were scrumptious, my wife also raved about her dish saying it had a bit of spiciness that really complimented the pasta.

Desert Torta Di Cioccolata
Rich chocolate cake with warm center topped with Vanilla Bean Gelato and chocolate syrup 6.95

This was a great ending to a nice meal, very enjoyable!

Oh yes management early on acknowledged the poor artichoke dip and advised that after tasting the offering himself and directed the kitchen to start over so others will not be adversly affected by poor product.

Thanks to Jerry our waiter and the manger Brett for being informative, gracious and showing what it means to provide good food and good service.

I am glad that I formed my own opinion, I now have a new place to go for good Italian!

Speaking from a Happy Hour point of view.... Great food.... awesome value. I've eaten there for happy hour 6 times and the shrimptini's, steak bruscetta and burgers are great. 3 buck appetizers?? no brainer. The worst: this location is a ATT dead zone!!! almost no bars!

Seriously underwhelmed. I must admit, I had high hopes for this place... and given the posh, upscale atmosphere, I was ready to be wowed. The only "wow" I had, however, was at how disappointed I was.

The food was far from spectacular; my Caesar salad had very little flavor (even for a Caesar salad,) and my eggplant pomodoro had just barely enough sauce to get some with each bite. The flavor on this, as well, was somewhat lacking. The spaghettini which came with it, however, was well presented and had a nice fresh flavor.

Then, of course, there was the service. I would highly recommend NOT going here for a quick lunch. We ended up being there for nearly two hours, 30 minutes of which was waiting for our check. In addition, the server was rather brusque when my friend asked for recommendations.

Overall, definitely not impressed. For as lavish as the decor is, and given the prices on the menu, I was expecting far better. Most certainly not recommended.

Good food, bad service by Sparky Went for wedding anniversary & sister's biehday. Fodd was better than service. Had to flag down waitress several times for bread & iced tea refills. Told by server our gorgonzola cheese steak had the cheese "drizzled" on it. Asked waitress when she finally appear & found the was NO cheese. Lost steak for 10 mins & was offered free teacup dessert. Will try outher restaurants before going back there.

Gradually Slipping. My wife and I have been to this restaurant 3 times and dont know if we'll go again. I voted I like it because it has potential as noted by our first dining experience but it seems to have gotten worse each time thereafter. We noticed the sauces have become watered down with smaller portions and when we called them on it we were told they do that for the happy hour crowd but we were in the dining room for dinner. They did replace the dish with the correct sauce and portions but we still felt as though they were trying to pull one over on us. When your spending more than $50 on a meal for two nothing should be watered down. The service which was amazingly good when they first opened has also slipped and we found ourselves feeling somewhat neglected at times with a forgetful waiter. Consequently, I've noticed we dont seem as motivated to visit them on date night anymore. Hope management cleans up there act because this place has potential.

Bad Food, Worse Service. There are a hundred good restaurants in Scottsdale, but this isn't one of them. Nice greeting at the door, with a decent fauz Italianette decor, but downhill from the gloppy bruschetta to the greasy scallops and a rubber pork chop. Amateur service, interminable delays, and uninspired dishes poorly prepared. This is a third rate tourist joint to be avoided at any price. For a better alternative - try Veneto Trattoria for their professional waitstaff, well prepared meals, and family hospitality.

Dint miss the lobster bisque - best I've had. Everything else was good, not outstanding but very good. North patio is nice by the fire. Inside dining room seemed a bit noisy. Nice menu. Had the gorgonzola filet, nice but not the best I've had. Just don't miss the lobster bisque!

Oh forgot to add. From MMM. The waiter was suppose to give us a $10. promotional certificate if you spent over a certain figure and we did not realize we did not get it until we got home.

-----20 Dec, 2009-----

Great Food, Service Sucked and Bathrooms Trashed. My date and I were disappointed with our service. After our waiter served our salads we did not see him again until we wanted the bill. They did not have spoons and I did not get one for my tea. They took my dates knife and did not replace it. After our food was delivered, no one came over and asked how our meal was. We had to ask the waiter cleaning the next table to get us more bread and butter and he never brought it. I had to ask another waiter running by to get me more tea and I had set it on the end of the table so they could see it was empty. We piled up three little plates during the meal and they were never picked up until the end of the meal. Our coffee was very weak and disappointing. We used the bathrooms before we left and the ladies room was trashed. There were paper towels overflowing both garbage cans and all over the floor. I mentioned it to the lady next to me and she said she was just thinking that. My date said the paper towels were all over in his bathroom and you had to stand back from the urinal because the floor was wet. I think if you are trying to get repeat business, you need to take a lesson from Houston's or Bandera's professional service. The food was delicious, the bar area looked fun and it was nicely decorated but we will not be back.

Beautiful interior. Food was fine nothing special. I had the brick chicken and my wife had the mediterranean penne. Both we're good dishes. Not super unique or special. Good value but no "wow" factor.

Beautiful décor,1st class menu and reasonale prices. You will not be disappointed!

Jp scottsdale. Great food..reasonable prices..have been there 3 times and always happy..also great great happy hour with very reasonable priced appetizers..my new favorite restaurant!

Disappointed. Looks nice but the food is not great. I went for brunch and tried the eggs oscar. This tried to be a groovy eggs benedict but did not work. I think it is over priced but I guess I got my money's worth as my eggs continued to 'talk to me' for hours.

Great Food and Good Service. Wife and I have been to Brio 5 times since it opened. We are fussy eaters and nearly always order changes to the standard items. On all visits our requests were taken care of and the food was delicious, correctly prepared and the right temperature.
On the only occasion where we had to complain it was because of a mix up over server station assignments and we were ignored for about 10 minutes. The manager apoligized and said he'd make up for the lack of service. He more than made up for it with excellent service, meal exactly as ordered and an added appetizer on the house.
When we asked for the check we were told it was taken care of by the manager - we were blown away.

Finally the happy hour selections at the bar are way better than anything at Cheesecake Factories happy hour.

2nd time the service and quality of the meal sent us back a second time. All I can say is go only once. This main visit to dinning room was bad service weak and food much worst. Salad was bad pasta served cold could have gone to a buffet and had better food. Needs much better management should have job posting online. May only go back if I sit at bar and have something there for happy hour . Stay away from dinning in!!! Hope they get it together.

Good food, good service!. Recently visited Brio last Saturday, I give this place thumbs up! No complaints about the food or service despite a full house with a 40 minute wait. Well worth the wait just to let you know!

I went in for happy hour, and the bartender did not look happy to be working. Slow service at the bar and staff was not knowledgable. But did have a nice food specials during happy hour.

Maybe it'll get better???. Something intrigues me when I see a restaurant open up in a high rent complex in the middle of a so called recession. My first thought is the food most knock your socks off to be able to do something so brave....I was almost as wrong as the time i double downed on a hard 12 with a dealer showing a 6....

my guest and i almost always eat at an Italian restaurant just north of Brio and love the food, but when they were closed for a private function, we chose to try Brio.

The first interaction with our server was started off with, "how are you doing tonight...can i get you a drink" Now im not disappointed our culinary experts name wasn't revealed to us, but if i had known i was going to have to ask for her so many times I think it would have been nice.. or maybe she just knew how our meal was going to go :)
As an appetizer, we requested sauteed calamari opposed to the fried calamari on the menu.....after a little confusion over the difference of sauteeing and frying our appetizer was ordered. Soon after the orders were placed. My meal, the shirmp and scallop risoto and my guests' angelhair bolonese. Moment later the appetizer came out. Very minimal portion of calamari with literally no sauce and less than lukewarm. The chef obviously didn't know what our request was...so i've come to the conclusion i'd rather someone say no we can't do that than make something and ruin it. approximately 15 minutes after ordering, a manager comes over and says i apologize, but there is no more risoto. She followed that by saying I will be happy to take care of your meal and you can just choose something else. I give her credit for making something right...because as far as im concerned, if it's on the menu than it needs to be in the kitchen. So i accepted her offer and went with Lasagna. Ok here comes the food...kinda...bolonese sauce was nothing more than marinara with a few chucks of ground beef and the meatballs had soo much onion/onion powder they were inedible. As for my lasagna, who puts alfredo sauce on it? Lasagna sheets, meat, ricotta, mozzarella, marinara...very simple...don't make something more complicated then it should be!

Well after dinner...we didn't want dessert, we just wanted to go. Our server brings our check and low and behold the risoto was not on the menu! So nice of them...but whats this...the lasagna is!! Maybe we have different ideas of what, " i will take care of your meal means." So we pay it so as not to have any more complaints because it comes to a point where it's overkill when everything is done wrong.

I honestly went in expecting a great meal with the ambiance, location and menu...i came out thinking it can only get better right. But based on this experience and our affinity for good tasting food, i must preemptively go with a No and state that if something doesn't change, the restaurant occupying the current Brio will.
