Review Takeda Thai By Moulay - Scottsdale

Food was fantastic. Clearly made to order, happily incorporating individual special requests. Hopefully going back again during our stay. Rating likely going up to a 5 once I've tried more of the food.

Excellent food. Great service. Owned by a couple that truly loves their customers and cares about what's on the plate. Music is good, home made ice cream (coconut) is a great finish. Spicy noodles with Thai basil was awesome. I also had the green curry which was delicious. Definitely going back.

I was there last night with a couple of friends and all I can say is a truly wonderful culinary experience, and extremely friendly and inviting owners, that were a joy to chat with. The food is spot on. The tom yum is the best I have ever had, and the Panang curry is so flavorful I was scraping the bowl to get ever last drop. I have read a couple of bad reviews, and my assumption is some people just cannot be pleased. Go there you will not be disappointed.

We went the evening before Valentine's Day. Place was about 3/4 full. Quiet setting. Low lighting. Good spot for date night. Only one wait staff but very friendly and attentive. Owner, I think, also cooks but came out to greet us. We were the last couple so got to talk a little with him and the waitress. Good size menu. I forgot our dishes. All were good but the duck was great. We will be back.

Very Nice Dinner. I love Thai and have eaten it all over the world and was very impressed with Takeda. Food was very well prepared and fresh. Our order came out just as we wanted, i.e. properly spiced and was delicious. The service was just right. Not too attentive, but some how Moulay was right there when we needed something. The atmosphere was very pleasant and not noisy, so we could carry on a conversation. I look forward to going back next time I am in Scottsdale.

The best Thai food we have found in the Valley by far. We have never been disappointed. Tasty, spices are adjustable. If something is not to your liking, ask Moulay for an exchange and TELL him what it was you did not care for in the dish you had ordered. Moulay will do the best possible for his customers. He can't tell what you don't like if you don't speak up. Most of the Curry dishes are $9-$10 which for Scottsdale is not a very high price. We frequently go to Takeda Thai for dinner.

Ginger, basil, green curry... Excellent. What the dishes lacked in portion size they made up for in bold flavors. Moulay was our host, server, bartender and busboy... I wouldn't be surprised if he also prepared our meal. And is owner of Takeda Thai. His laughter and love of his work is evident in the quality of his service and manner of speaking with us. Many people came by for takeout but few other dine in customers arrived during our hour and a half meal. Amazing food, great service, nice atmosphere...

Tonight we dined on beef salad, panang curry, and Pad Thai. The ingredients were crisp, fresh, and superior quality. The Pad Thai is clearly one of the best dishes in town, and this is coming from a real foodie. The beef salad is tantalizing and the perfect spice level. Even after going to Thailand many times, I prefer the Thai food here at Takeda.

Every bite was a delight to my culinary senses!! Truly one of the BEST restaurants I've EVER eaten at in llife!! Every dish was masterfully crafted with exquisite, fresh flavor. Even the fried rice was out of this world, and the char-grilled veggies and edamame were perfectly seasoned. Don't miss the coconut ice cream, mango sticky rice and Pad Thai either! Actually, just order one of everything :-) There was not one dish that was "subpar" as other reviews indicated. This place should be over 5 stars if it were possible!!! Thank you, Moulay - you are a very gifted restaurant engineer!! Hope to see you in Colorado soon :-)

I dont even know how to express how amazing this place was!!! If I could give this place more then 5 stars I would! Everything was just DELIGHTFUL!!!! We were waited, served, and cooked for by the owner of the place! And he was just delightful!! He had was so friendly and very funny! But now let's get to the food! Where to begin.... everything was just delicious! The food had amazing flavors, and everything was perfectly seasoned even down to the last edamame! And the fried rice was just AMAZING!! Definitely the best fried rice I've ever had! I cant say enough! Will DEFINITELY be back!!!

This little restaurant could be overlooked as it sits slightly hidden in a strip mall, but don't be fooled!! The food is outstanding and it is decorated so cute both in the main area, bar and the small patio by the herb garden. The patio is where we chose to dine and it was so nice and relaxing! We had attentive but not overbearing service and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the owner(s) Ms. Sarah Takeda and also really enjoyed our chat with Moulay himself! But of course we were there for food!😋 Sarahs recommendations were on point! We really enjoyed the Coconut soup (cant remember the official name) and my husband was delighted that he got to have sweet and sour chicken! A rare treat when you are gluten free, the chicken isn't breaded and the sauce isnt overly sweet=PERFECT! We also enjoyed a dish of homemade coconut ice cream and oh.....I almost forgot the Thai tea with RUM!! YUM!!!

Great food and service! I've only been here once, but it was terrific! I had the Green Papaya Salad and the Eden Veggies, they were both so good! I've already decided what I'm going to try the next time I go there.

Takeda Thai is THE Thai spot in Scottsdale. The food is of course excellent - beyond that, the atmosphere is great for chatting with friends and enjoying a drink. Moulay takes his place in the community very seriously, and we’re lucky to have him! Noodle dishes are my go-to here, but you MUST try the pad prik king. Enjoy!

Visiting from out off town and found this restaurant to have the highest reviews. I went and was concerned they were closed as there were only a couple of people there. BUT LET ME TELL YOU! Absolutely everything was SO FREAKING GOOD! I eat a lot of Thai and the 2 places I've had the best were in actual Thailand and this little hole in the wall in Myrtle beach. This is now officially up there. He even made edamame good with his preparation. (I've always detested edamame) If I lived here I would be there at least weekly. Diet or not. Lol

Very nice ambiance, but the portions (for lunch at least) are nearly half of other locations. I always love having some left overs, but the portion size for a $9 red curry was barely enough to even fill me up!

Avoid Takeda Thai by Moulay at all costs! My boyfriend and I came here last night and had a terrible experience. I rarely complain about food or service but tonight there was chicken bone in our lettuce wraps and I bit on a piece and it hurt my tooth really badly. THEN when I got my Mango Curry, the chicken was still raw on the inside! Completely unacceptable. Besides the food, the service was terrible, we waited over half an hour just for one appetizer, and another 20 minutes for the second one. Our curries took over an hour to get to us. Not to mention the manager was completely rude. At one point she reached over for my fork and took it off the plate that I was still using and placed it on the table, but didn't pick up the plate. It's like, why did you just touch my fork in the first place?! For the prices you pay, the food is subpar and portions are extremely small. $10.95 for five crab rangoons that are extremely small? Not to mention a $15.95 curry that comes in a small bowl with an even smaller bowl of rice? I can justify paying those prices for portions that keep up with cost. Come on. The manager didn't even want to apologize for the service we received and for the bone in the lettuce wrap or for the raw chicken in my curry. We offered to pay for what we did drink and eat but she said we didn't have to pay. Instead of apologizing, all she did was ask if we had been there before and after I said no, she looked at me and said "No, I'm pretty sure I've seen you before." I kept telling her no, that I haven't been here. They treat new customers like trash and praise returning customers from what it seems like. Avoid this place like the plague. There are much better Thai places out there.

Takeda Thai is hands down the best in the valley. This restaurant is small and easy to miss but the food is absolutely dynamite. I have eaten here for lunch at least once a week for five years and dinner as often as possible. I have tried everything on the menu and my wife and I have never found anything we didn't love. Very special thanks to Moulay for making me dishes with no sugar as I am diabetic.
