Bagel's & Bakes

As a bagel lover I have had bagels all over the world. Does anyone know the origin of bagels? I don't but I believe they originated at Bagels and Bakes in the humble hamlet of Rotterdam. The bagels are superb, the bakes are exquisite. The cream is so good I take credit for making it at my book of the month club gathering. This place gets the "Mikey Likey Award"

Ordered an English muffin with sunny side up egg and avocado slices (like the picture on the website), and was told they aren't able to make sunny side up eggs for some reason......and wasn't given a reason. Instead, I was given an unseasoned HARD chunk of avocado that was absolutely unripe and inedible and not even sliced. On the website, there's a picture of toast with almond butter and banana slices. Tried to order that, and they said they don't have that and have never had that, and didn't have any explanation for why it was on the website Called to speak with someone about this and the person who took the phone call didn't seem the least bit concerned. She said, "we get what we get from the supplier; it's not our fault." Smh and sigh. Absolutely would not recommend. *************** After I typed this review, the owner, ToniAnne (sp?) contacted me and I couldn't have been more pleased with her response and insistence upon fixing the problem. She explained that the customer pictures that are up may not properly represent the current menu, and she also explained (at length) the avocado issue. She then insisted that my husband and I come in and have lunch on her, and I found that to be classy and excellent customer service. The next time we find ourselves in the area, we will make it a point to visit here for sure. There's nothing better than a top-notch customer service from a business owner who genuinely cares.

Such a great place and so glad to have them in Rotterdam! Bagels are delicious. Cream cheese is as well. So many flavor options. High quality. Baked goods (cookies, muffins, turnovers) all delicious. I haven't tried the sandwiches or other menu options. But I would assume they are excellent as well. You can tell they try very hard to provide a quality product. And in my option, they do just that! Highly recommend!
