I came across this hidden gem on my way to Canada. A cozy Moroccan cuisine with big flavor. The eggplant appetizer dip and chicken vegetable are absolutely delicious. The vegetable is cooked to perfection, fresh, sweet and subtly tangy. Their pita is thicker than store bought pita, which gave a dense texture.

There is nothing negative to say about this restaurant. I came from out of town, was greeted with a warm ambiance and amazing smells in a family run setting. I was given thorough information about each dish I inquired about. The food itself was perfectly cooked and well seasoned and I was provided with generous portions of the wine, lamb meatballs, and spicy fig tagine I ordered. The restaurant owner was training a new chef in the kitchen. She was patient, thorough, and consistent which I am certain translates to quality and consistency of each prepared dish. The food heightened my overall experience of Schenectady and I encourage those who are able to try it to do so.

Excellent dinner! The food was delicious, so many new flavors, and in addition to their extensive food menu they also had a nice list of Moroccan wines. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating, especially since we had a baby with us which can be a challenge when dining out. This was our first visit but we'll definitely be back!

The food and service at Tara Kitchen is second to none. You'll discover incredible flavors and unique dishes that never disappoint. I love ordering a variety of their appetizers and turning that into my meal. It's always the first place I think of when out of towners ask for recommendations.

A delightful place with indoor and outdoor seating. Reservations are not accepted. The food is hot and fresh. I had the opportunity to taste all of the appetizers and they were excellent. The portions are generous. The service was quick and everyone was friendly and polite.

The restaurant, the jarred sauces, & the cooking classes are all worth it. Fresh beautiful Moroccan food served in traditional tagines. If you enjoy hot spice definitely get a jar of Tara's harissa.

There are some good ethnic restaurants in the capital region, but Tara Kitchen is by far my favorite. The food is authentic, flavorful, delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the staff is always welcoming and eager to please. Every meal I've eaten at Tara Kitchen has been terrific. I will keep coming back again and again.

I have been here so many time over the years, and tell people it's my favorite place when I'm in town, but I'm not sure I can say that any longer. I've been there for a cooking class in the past, I tell people it was out of this world because it was!
So what happened last night?? Never have I had a worse experience at a restaurant, I actually left it was so bad. The place just couldn't get it together, 45 min waiting and no one had anything but water, the ENTIRE restaurant. When we got our appetizer, we still hadn't even received napkins or drinks ordered. Or, the delightful tea you get (normally). And, our app was not the right one, and also very unappetizing. I really hope something changes! What a great place gone wrong. But why?

The chef is an absolute master of seasoning and flavor. Since I can't have capsaicin, I have often found that many cooks substitute spicy heat for flavor. Tara Kitchen concocts marvelous, delightful meals with such superb seasoning, I eat them as slowly as possible to savor each mouthful. My favorite dish is the eggplant with chickpeas, prunes, and honey, but I have never been disappointed with any other item I've eaten here. Also, I always get the potato patty appetizer--it helps fill the time it takes for a good tagine to cook, and it's also a delicious experience of flavors and textures.

I was there for the first time last night with my daughter. The waiter first served hot green tea with honey and mint that was so deliciously refreshing we asked for more . For appetizers, we ate our way through parsley chermoulade, olive tapenade, and eggplant with sundried tomatoes and garlic, all served with warm pita bread. We each ordered lamb tagines for entrees, with different savory and sweet ingredients. They were brought to the table bubbling hot and our mouths were watering from the aroma! There was an abundance of large and small chunks of lamb that was so tender no knife was needed. The combination of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seasonings made these dishes delightful! Served with a side of Moroccan rice pilaf, and plenty of warm pita bread to dip in the sumptuous broth put it right over the top! We brought the leftovers home to continue our feast today. The slice of baklava I brought home was flaky, delicate, and sitting in honey, and possibly the best I've ever tasted! The staff were always smiling, friendly, and very accommodating, quickly responding to all of our requests. I can't wait to return to try more of their menu fare! Thank you, Tara Kitchen, for such a wonderful dining experience!

Just Delicious! I am biased to any place that gives me complementary tea! The service and the food was fantastic. I wish they served a different fish that I could eat, because I would love to have some at this wonderful place. They were awesome with my 19 mo. old daughter too which really helped me to relax and just enjoy the dinner. Warning: if you take a spicy meal home, it simply gets hotter by the time you eat it again. Justin, I stand corrected. My mouth is currently on fire and I would happily do it again.

The food here is simply amazing. So many flavors, perfectly blended together. I went milder, while my husband went for the harissa. We were both in Heaven.
Neither of us finished, so next time I will not forgo one of the appetizers -- just more for a yummy lunch the next day! Not 5 star because the service was a tad spotty and there is no wine or beer.
