I enjoyed our Chimney Sandwiches with their high quality ingredients and the obvious care that goes into each item they offer. We got there right before they closed in the afternoon but the one employee still there was able to accommodate us before she closed up shop. My only issue was that we went there late and I’m not sure if the bread was as fresh tasting as I expected. Will be back earlier for another try!

Hungarian chimney sandwich satisfies hunger it’s as simple as that! Cheddar bread with Eddie’s chicken salad is best to be found. Hubby’s Turkey on everything chimney bread was delicious. Prices extremely competitive and fair. Vegetarian options and salads with kale. Staff are all friendly and want each patron to enjoy this great eating experience. Easy to find on main st, cheery decor, in or out seating choices, clean and shiny. We will be back for ice cream in a chimney cone!!

What a wonderful little bakery right in the heart of downtown Sarasota! I had never heard of a Chimney Cake until I tried one here. Searching Google for bakeries near me with my boyfriend one Saturday afternoon, this lovely little shop popped up. Everything about this place is superb. The adorably sweet girl behind the counter, Aurora, was not only attentive, but she was incredibly knowledgeable. From the history of the Chimney Cakes and how the bakery came to Sarasota, to how they are made. Fresh Fresh Fresh seems to be the motto here. The crisp, clean simple decor with lovely furnishing were so inviting. They even have a liquor license, which I think would make this a great spot for happy hour! Sweet, Savory or Spicy, Dessert or Sandwich, there is a chimney cake for everyone. We decided on sweet, and both of us chose a cinnamon chimney cake filled with ice cream. They had me at cinnamon. Throw a marshmallow in the bottom (as it’s a hollow tube of scrumptious cinnamon covered dough), fill it with locally made soft serve vanilla ice cream and I’m in heaven. I can’t wait to try a sandwich from them, especially because I am not big on the bread overpowering my sandwich. I’m thinking the savory Everything Bagel Chimney Cake filled with Homemade Chicken Salad is in my near future! Follow me on @packedandwandering to see my latest travels.

We ordered the Hungarian, the Italian, the weekly special (brie, jam, apple, ham) chimney subs and a Chimney dog. All were so very good. Then we ordered a New York and Orlando ice cream chimney cones, plus the caramelized sugar, sprinkles and cinnamon sugar chimney cakes. Absolutely delicious. Would definitely come back. Super cute restaurant on top of great food.

Food is amazing! But the inside smells horrific. They need to figure out how to get rid of the dirty mop water smell that is a punch in the face every time someone walks in the door. Or get more outside tables.

I love chimney cake, and in this store you can pick from sweet and savory also. I’m very “Hungarian” so I had the cheese chimney with teli salami ,hard boiled eggs and pickles ! My favorite! I was full all day long! The hot dog chimney also crazy delicious and of course for the sweet tooth we grab a regular chimney cake..they can filled with ice cream if you like. They are the absolutely best chimney in US. Anytime we are in Sarasota, we gonna stop by! Adorable place to eat in or pick up something for to go!

Delish! Kirtos offers fresh sandwiches, pastries and breakfast. The sandwiches are very unique using an airy bagel-type bread. The ingredients are so fresh! My favorite is the salmon on an everything roll. It comes with cucumbers, lettuce, tomato and onions. We also tried the Chimney Panini and the Sweet Smash Panini. Everything was SO GOOD (yes, I’m yelling!) This is a must try in Sarasota.

Simply delicious! Service was great too. I ended up making my own sandwich because the only vegetarian option didn't appeal to me. The woman behind the counter told me the owner is Hungarian and so is the shop. I joked that I totally Americanized my sandwich, opting for all basic veggies and cheese. But it was great this way and the bread is what made it stand out. It's how bread should be!

My family was downtown Sarasota and looking for a quick bite to eat. We popped into Kurtos and were blown away. The owners were friendly, greeted us instantly, and gave us the rundown of what they have to offer as a Hungarian bakery. All 3 of us got sandwiches and we all agreed they were hands down the best sandwiches we’d ever had. The bread is UNREAL. They bake it fresh in a tube shape, so it’s thin and crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside, and they cut it in half and you eat it like a 6 inch sub. All sandwiches should be on their bread - it was perfect, and left lots of room for a generous portion of delicious and fresh sandwich filling inside. Although we were too stuffed to try it, they make sweet versions of this bread as well, and fill it with ice cream. I can’t wait to try that next time! It’s clear the owners take a lot of pride in what they do and they should be proud, what a gem of a business they’ve created.
