Dudley's Bakery

Always loved their breads and usually their fruit bars. However, in this visit I noticed a big change in their Date Ginger Bars; not as good as before. I did enjoy their Apple Bars...Please do not change this recipe! The Date Bars had a similar texture, but as I said not my last purchase. Staff was pleasant.

As a part owner of a health food distributorship - we just happened to be fortunate enough to pick up Dudley's Bakery as an account. You cannot even imagine what it was like to drive down the mountain with hundreds of loaves of their beautiful , still warm , breads AND 100 + dozen of their mouth-watering bran muffins ! I've never been so "regular" in my life. Great place !!!!

Both the bakery and the deli are fantastic, we love stopping in whenever we passing through, or in some cases it is our destination. We have been going here for 40 years. 90 minute drive for bread = good bread. They are handling social distancing well; no more indoor dining, but now there's plenty of room for the always long but fast moving line. Clear signage, plenty of space, the line weaves you past all the product to the deli counter and registers. Plenty of space to wait while your sandwiches are made. Note: they don't bake on Tuesdays, so they start running low around noon; if you've got your heart set on some Danish apple, sheepherder's, date nut raisin, or a dozen bags of fruit bars, come early on a Tuesday.

Going to Dudley's is like visiting an old friend and smelling something wonderful baking in the oven. Especially during these difficult times it was nice to take the short scenic drive to Santa Ysabel to take in the chilly fall weather and buy a few loaves of fresh baked bread. Even now there was a steady stream of people coming in to pick up some fresh baked goodness! The line was properly marked with socially distanced floor markings and everyone was wearing masks. All in all a great experience as usual and the freshest best tasting bread in San Diego! Nice getaway!

This is one of my favorite stops when I drive this way. Great bread and fantastic pie. The people are really friendly and there is easy parking. They always have a short line that moves very quickly. Some of the other places close by are almost as good but have huge lines and hard to get through in a decent amount of time. There are several breads I like. I always grab two of the walnut raisin bread. It makes really great French toast. I also use it for hot turkey 🦃.. sandwich . I also looked to make bread pudding with this one. I also love the jalapeno cheese bread.. Enjoy
