Review Familia Diaz - Santa Paula

Greg
Very good food, the Chapala fajitas were excellent, well cooked chicken and steak, and the shrimp were tasty - both of them. The house margarita and the chill atmosphere were perfect. But the server was rushed and made me nervous just watching him and we didn't dare ask a question and slow down our order. One server is not enough for 20+ tables. Unfortunately no outside seating but inside is fairly spacious and elegant.

I went here once in person and remember it being really good. We ordered takeout and when I went to pick it up one item was wrong- just the wrong kind of enchilada. The girl at the front was really sweet and had the kitchen remake it. I got home to find that instead of the cheese enchiladas with red sauce I ordered being included, there was an additional chicken with green sauce enchilada order. It wouldn’t have been a big deal, but they also forgot the Chile relleno and flan I ordered and paid for, and the chimichangas were so soggy you couldn’t even pick it up and they were wet to the touch. I paid for three items I never received and what we got was so bad we didn’t even finish it.

I didn’t know what to expect when I was going in there for the first time. But I was blown away. The food and service here is amazing. It is fresh and good quality. They have a wide variety of options and delicious food. The chips and salsa are also very good. One of my favorite places to eat in Santa Paula, especially if you want Mexican food. Highly recommend it

I was passing through town and stopped in to Chapala with my family… Wow! What a great decision that turned out to be, while Santa Paula has quite a few Mexican food dining options, I highly doubt there are many can compare to Chapala. The food was excellent! The flavors were spot on authentic and genuine, the execution of the dishes was top notch and service went hand in hand with it. I walked out extremely satisfied and all I can think about now is when to eat those leftovers. I will definitely be back. 5 well deserved stars.

Bad experience got my food cold as ice they obviously heat it up in the oven or microwave but the meat was so cold. My wife enjoyed her food but for me it was a bad experience. The server was nice i still left her a tip. She deserved it it wasn't her fault the kitchen messed up.

I recommend mole enchiladas. The best in town. I have had the same dish for over 3 years at Chapalas and every time, the flavor, presentation and texture is the same. CONSISTENCY seems to be the norm when it comes to enchiladas de mole. The service isn't the greatest, but the food males up for lack of service. The facility is clean, bathrooms are always clean.

I've given this restaurant 3 chances cause I believe in 2nd and 3rd chances, but I'm done with this restaurant. 1st time I was there we waited about 40 minutes then my food arrived dry and cold like it was sitting there and mind you there was only a handful of customers. 2nd time my hard shell taco was not hard shell, but slighty toasted so I sent it back and received it back so oily as if they took everything out of the tortilla and tried to refry it doing a horrible job at it, cause when I received it not only did they put the original insides back in it, but the bottom of my plate was covered in oil and the shell was still barely even hard again. I told them I didn't want my food and to credit my bill reluctantly they did, but not before they asked me 6x two times from my waitress twice from another waiter and even the manager asked twice if I was sure I didn't want them to remake it. I finally told the manager Meriam my concern and how I felt about how they remade my taco and all she said was ok and walked away. So here I am a 3rd time and this time I place a phone order and I asked if they had posole before I continued to place my order I was assured there was plenty left so I continued to place my order and I was told it would be ready in 15-20 so when I arrived 25 minutes later I was told it wasn't ready and it would be ready shortly so she took my payment and as I waited another 20 minutes I was told there was no more posole and if I wanted menudo instead I informed her no and the whole purpose of my call was to make sure they had what I wanted so I wouldn't have to make the drive for nothing, but clearly that wasn't the case! Again I spoke to Meriam the manager and she had the same dry persona she had the 1st time. As the saying goes 3rd times a charm well not in this case they failed all 3 times I've given them a chance. So clearly I will never give this so called restaurant another chance.

Zero stars. Unfortunate since this used to be a decent place. My mom was a regular here for a long while. Got there early to avoid a crowd since it's Cinco de Mayo and have a 1 year old. Waited 15 minutes before a server took our order. Another 15 minutes for the server (who in her defense was new) had to confirm the order. Another 15 minutes and we ask the status of our drinks, to which we were told that there were other drinks ahead of us - by the people who sat down after us and we're already getting drinks. The manager argued with us about something that since the ticket was punched in late - they couldn't verify how long we were waiting (ignoring the fact that our server told her that we had been waiting a long time). The manager then said "well, you can just cancel your order "Just redicululous, we got up and walked out. Never coming back.
