El Texate - Santa Monica - Photo album

Great hole-in-the-wall find with unique "Special of the Day!" The staff was super nice and accommodating. Drinks and food did not disappoint! The place was clean with fun vibes. We'll be back when visiting.
Came around 11am on Sunday and got the eggs with chicken (not on the menu, but our server told us about it). I absolutely loved it!! Guacamole was good, chips were warm they were so fresh. Lots of space, no one else was really around that early. Friendly service.
Flavor was excellent! A great find! Friendly staff. It was very late when I went and this not crowded. I'd give a 4.5 if possible or a 5 if the chicken was a bit higher quality. However it was done to perfection and tasted great (it had some gristle).
Really enjoyed my visit to El Texate - this venue is so welcoming, you will feel like one of the family! Michael (the owner) is a true connoisseur when it comes to tequila! Also, you will find a large variety of other spirits there too. If your in the area, check it out! PS - sorry we didn't pop
I was greeted by the owner himself who gave me the Down Low on the history of the place and recommendations, I opted for the Caldo de Rez which turned to be the most flavorful with the most tender meat ever!...my mouth still waters when I think of it...yum!!
Food was delicious despite watching my to-go order sit there while the bartender went to go take another order. Not sure what that was about. None the less the food was amazing and have a good tequila selection.
The ABSOLUTE best Mexican on the Westside. Stellar drink specials starting at $5. Where can you even get a beer for that much on this side of town? I get the mezcal margaritas & mojitos depending on my mood. The fajita plate is impressive if you're on a date and like showmanship. I usually do the bu
This spot is cozy the food and service is good there is a really spicy red sauce, guacamole the homemade food & tortillas are bomb 👍
Fantastic food and great service. The mole (I had carnitas with mole Amarillo) was absolutely delicious, with four different kinds on the menu. I’ll definitely be back!
A nice place. The atmosphere is great. Its a nice place for a family meal. They serve drinks at reasonable prices. The staff is there to get their jobs done and they do a good job, though not particularly friendly. I had a pretty decent carne fajita for a good price.
Fantastic family owned establishment! They have seven different types of mole and even though I haven't tried all of them, everything I've had is delicious. Couldn't resist going tonight even though it was Cinco De Mayo & I still had the best service even though they were packed. My favorite Mexican
Great place with really good food! Not far off the beach and worth the walk!
I am a cheap person. I don't like to pay more than $5 for a 1lb burrito. The steak burrito here was a good 1lb, was $15, and was so amazing I felt like I was ripping them off. The salsa is also so amazingly good. I could drink it from a bottle. My wife felt the same way. If you are looking for Mexic
Dog friendly...is a plus....also there food is awsome dressed perfectly upon the hot plate. ...it was enough for two lovers except the dog ...but yes for Charlie and I it was a great day with charming settings and great food. 5 star for small places.
I have to give it a rare 5-star. This is a family Mexican restaurant, where they care about food and also tradition. It is best known for their moles (and I recommend the South Mex version of taking it as a stew). They have great seafood selection too. But for me, their fresh tilapia, both grilled
Delicious cuisine that is only topped by the freshly made juice. Friendly service and authentic decor
