The sushi was really good, and they have good Eel sauce. Anything fried in theor tempura is A+. Only one star removed because of their Udon. Bland broth and no fishcake or mushroom. The staff was great tho. They listened to our concerns and offered solutions.

Went around lunch time with my grandmother. We were the only people dining in. When we enter Tokyo cafe the floor was SOO STICKY!! Every little step our shoes made a sticky sound 😬. The booth we were sat at was occupied by flies. The flies would not leave us alone. We mentioned that to our waitress multiple times but she did not suggest to move us or offer to help. *I recommend bringing your own fly swatter while you eat* we didn't wait long for our meal, we got started off with miso soup and vegetables tempura and our food came shortly after. It was really hard to enjoy our meal because of the non-stop constant bugs of the flies trying to land on our food and it was just tiring swatting them. I don't know what the hype is about the dishes I've saw on Google about this restaurant... We had a total different experience.. Our lunch was bland. Usually don't see any salt or peppers at any japanese restaurant because flavors is on point but I felt like a lot of the components in our main dish didn't have taste. Maybe we didn't came on their good days? I would like to retry this restaurant at a different time when it's most busy. Hopefully by then, my posted review will change but for now it is what it is.

I’ve lived in Santa Fe 10 years, been to every restaurant. And I must say, not only does Tokyo Cafe always have quality sushi, but I want to mention they make the best calamari I’ve ever had. Some calamari has too much breading and almost no meat, but at Tokyo cafe they serve meaty fried calamari with the perfect amount of breading. This is the best sushi place in Santa Fe

The restaurant was cute, not overly busy on Thursday night, and the food was good! I was happy that they were able to make fried rice with GF soy sauce, and the rice was not overly salted so it was actually enjoyable to eat. The sushi rolls we had were delicious. My husband got the teriyaki beef bento box and the beef was cooked to a perfect medium. Pictured is the Tokyo seaweed salad.

Amazing food and excellent wait staff. Started with an incredible spicy tuna poke salad and vegetable tempura which were both the best I have ever had!!! Kept up their good works with a yellowtail jalapeño sashimi dish which was unique and tasty. The gyoza was also REALLY good. And the variety of rolls almost made it impossible to chose.
Definitely something for everyone on their lengthy menu- including the non sushi eaters!

This place is actually beyond my expectation. All dishes we ordered are tasty, and the crazy Cajun sushi is awesome!

Affordable, great service, I've never seen it busy, great food and that wasabi is spicy! 🔥
Try puting one part wasabi and two parts in a dish and stir it together. SUPER GOOD.

Not the greatest sushi I’ve ever had but the restaurant is clean and food is good. If need Japanese this is a fine stop. First Sushi I’ve had in Santa Fe so I don’t have a local comparison. Seattle/Tacoma would be better for sushi.
