Cute small place for small tummies. Maybe good for vegans but not for others. Food was ok and not enough even for my kids so I ordered more. Some plates like filet a la plancha better than others. I personally didn’t like my enchilada but it was ok. The staff are very friendly though. I would not recommend if you are looking for a nice restaurant with big i door dining room

Great vegan Mexican food! We got the birria tacos which were the highlight - awesome flavor and the wife who hasn't liked jackfruit in the past loved them. Vegan ceviche was a good vegan twist on the dish and the fajitas were fine. Really kind staff and helpful with good suggestions. Looking forward to their vegan tamales next time we go!

I did a takeout for pozole and I asked if it was spicy and young man who took order said I could order it non spicy. I told him that my stomach could not handle too spicy but when I opened to eat it was spicy. I tried to eat a bit of it but after 2 bites I closed it up. The taste for someone who loves spicy was probably delicious but I was so hungry and had to settle for Ramen elsewhere. If it’s spicy, say so, if not say so. Hope my mom loves spicy but if not a waste because I’ll throw it out, waste of my money too

The best VEGAN menu! This place will not disappoint. Just remember all food is made to order so you will have a little longer wait then normal, but you will be happy you waited. Hey! call in your order as well for pick up. Between AV and the SC Valley this is the best hidden gem for all you plant based/flexatarian foodies. The Vegan pozole and cauliflower ceviche is a 10+, my daughter loves their flautas..yup plant based too. They also offer a non plant based menu which my husband LOVES. Check them out and support a local mom and pop restaurant! You're welcome!

La Charrita is a great Mexican place for adult vegetarians, vegans and omnivores--but not for vegetarian kids. We stopped by for dinner with high expectations to a have a solid vegetarian dinner, with some ambiance, and, for the most part, our expectations were met. I ordered the enchiladas de mole' vegano, which consisted of 2 corn tortillas filled with organic jackfruit and covered in a delightful mole', served with vegetarian rice and creamy pinto bean sides. It was truly delicious. My wife ordered the las fajitas veganas, which was made with sauteed non-GMO soy chick'n, bell peppers, onions and a squeeze of orange juice. It came with 4 tortillas (corn, flour, or a combination). This was also very delicious, even after experiencing paper plates, plastic silverware and parking lot seating. The positives: 1) finding healthy, hearty, authentic and tasty vegan/vegetarian Mexican fare (that's a rarity!) 2) friendly and attentive service The disappointments: 1) outdoor seating consisted of 2-person tables next to parked cars; 2) paper plates and plastic silverware to eat $15 dinner entrees; 3) we promised our vegetarian 4-year-old he'd have a quesadilla at an authentic Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, they could not accommodate this simplest of requests. After we finished our meal we were forced to go to a 2nd Mexican restaurant a half mile away that had a kids menu to fulfill our promise to him. I believe I was generous with my 4-star rating, only because, to me, the quality of the food reigns supreme, especially for a vegetarian looking for good Mexican food. The rest of the experience is important, but recovering from a pandemic, and wanting to sit outdoors to keep our unvaccinated child as safe as possible, I can overlook the rest. Without the pandemic, i may have given 3 stars. Overall, I recommend La Charrita for an authentic Mexican meal, especially a healthy and hearty vegan one. The ambiance may leave a bit to be desired, but the experience with still be positive.
