One of my favorite spot! My 3 year old son is a picky eater - won't eat meat, but loves the food here. We come here often for our mommy son brunch dates. The staff is super friendly as well.
Me and my cousin love this place. They have a special Mezbaan sauce and love the prawn mezbaan dish. A very big menu and perhaps one of the best Indian restaurant in the Santa Clara area.
Have been to the lunch buffet at this restaurant every time I visit some dear friends who live in the Santa Clara Area. It is their favorite Indian restaurant as well, and I think they frequently order takeout from here as well. It’s conveniently located in the large Rivermark Plaza in the center of many shopping and service options. I’ve really liked the food whenever I’ve lunched from their large buffet; the quality has stayed consistent. Variety of vegetarian options, and pretty authentic tastes for everything. As more than one reviewer has pointed out here on Yelp, the proprietor is a humble and attentive person who checks on his customers at least once during their meals to make sure they have everything they need. Service can be just a little bit slow on weekend afternoons when it comes to servers bringing you fresh naans from the kitchen, but we hardly cared because we were busy chatting among our group of friends. It can also be a bit noisy during those peak hours (and I’m sure our chatter added to the noise level, haha!). I think the price is pretty reasonable for the spread. You need to bring big appetites with you to properly do justice to this buffet though; maybe skip breakfast? Otherwise you’ll still find the food to be tasty, but will feel a little sluggish, even drowsy afterwards. Overall, an enjoyable experience. Hope to visit this restaurant again when I’m in the Bay Area next.
If you're looking for a good Indian restaurant to initiate someone to Indian food, I would definitely recommend Mezbaan. They have quite a wide selection of items across Indian regional cuisines. They also have a fairly good ambiance compared to the other Indian restaurants in the Bay.
I wouldn't say they are the best in the Bay by any measure, but the food is certainly tasty and the prices are reasonable.
It is definitely the best Indian restaurant on this side of the bay. Their lunch buffet menu is very good and tasty. I was there yesterday for lunch with colleagues from work, all of us had very good time. Chaat was very very good, tandoori chicken was tender and fresh but looked a bit messy, curries: lamb curry, chicken masala and butter chicken were deliciously and had the right masala portions, paneer masala was good but a bit heavy with butter, naan was fluffy and fresh. They had jamun for desert and it was good too. Food was definitely scrumptious, but service is a bit slow and place is a bit crowded and noisy.
Btw, parking was a big pain and there were not enough spots.
Mezbaan literally translates to "Host". So, were they good "mezbaans"?
We decided to walk into Mezbaan on a sunny Saturday afternoon for lunch. Looking at the buffet spread and its pricing, we thought buffet was the better option than going a la carte. The buffet spread was decent, with equal varieties in veg as well as non-veg ranging from Dal Tadka, Punjabi Kadi, Bhindi Masala, Paneer Lahori, Palak Paneer, Veg Sabji, Mutton Curry, Chicken Lahori, Butter Chicken, Veg and Chicken Biryani, Gulab Jamun, Kheer, Fruits, Mango Ice-cream and maybe some more that I may have missed. Oh yes, the Hot and Sour Veg soup and some appetizers as well.
While the spread looked delicious, the taste was ok-ish. I liked each of the gravies and the Naans were crisp and soft at the same time. The Biryani was pretty dry and average at best. The Kheer was awesome though.
At the end of our meal, the bill arrived in the form of a sheet that did not even have the Restaurant's name on it. I had to pay by credit card to get a receipt with the restaurant's name. But overall, a decent experience.
Very food and tasty food. T.... Very food and tasty food.
The owner and the staff were very kind and suggested me great choices.
The food was really good.
Wonderful. On the off-chance I called in for lunch, which was a buffet. The staff were really friendly, including the manager who thanked me and shook my hand as I left. It was one of the best Indian buffets I have had. The flavors were amazing and really varied. Lots of choice, and lots of vegetarian options too. Appetizers, entrees, and desserts. And all for around $15. I will definitely be heading back there next time I am in the area.
Superb food and service, but a bit pricey. The waiter honored my restaurant.com voucher, but informed me that I would have to order rice separately, which normally comes with meals. They offered a great selection of vegetarian dishes, with a few specialty dishes featuring the restaurant's own special sauce. The waiter was very helpful and attentive, and made excellent suggestions.
The curries we ordered were very flavorful, unique, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The Lahknavi Kofta (vegetable balls in cashew nut gravy) had a slightly sweet, nutty flavored sauce. The Bengan Bharva Masala (stuffed baby eggplant) were generously stuffed with spiced vegetables. Paneer-E-Mezbaan (cheese and onions in special spicy sauce), one of the restaurant's specialties, was served on a sizzling iron platter with a thick tomato-based sauce. Their Kashmiri naan, filled with minced nuts, raisins, and cherries provided a bit of sweetness that complimented the curries. I would have to say this is some of the best Indian food I've ever had.
The meal was delicious, if a little pricey. Dinner for two was $75 (including tax and tip), making this a good place to splurge on a special occasion. Thankfully for my restaurant.com voucher, it didn't break the bank. Also, the portions are a very good size, there were enough leftovers for another meal for two.
This place was fantastic!!! Went there with family during Xmas and for the first time, every single plate was wiped clean!!! The best part, there was NO typical pool of oil at the bottom of each plate! Food was delicious, lassi's were refreshing, dessert was yummy! So glad there's an Indian restaurant of this caliber in the area!
Mezbaan Bar & Indian Restaurant was so delicious. The food was so tasty. We got the normal Chicken Masala good, Lamb Pasanda not a lamb fan but the lamb taste really good not gamey. What was delicious was their Mezbaan sause that was suggested by the owner (cool guy) and the Naan. Normally the naan you have to eat fast because for me that's normally when it's good but their Naan was delicious even when it was cold it was soft and yummy. Everyone was nice and friendly. 3💜
If you are looking for good Indian buffet places (Lunch only), Mezbaan has a lot to offer. With bollywood songs in the background, you can enjoy the deliciously finger licking Indian food items. Friendly staff and yes, they have a bar too 🍺
I don't know why I haven't tried this place before. Food is great and service is excellent! The papads are a tasty appetizer followed by veggie platter. When we ordered a side dish, we didn't realize it came with rice and so we also ordered naan. Pretty filling and tasty overall. The ambience is great too!
Nice ambience with old bollywood songs in background. The food was good. I ordered Paneer ae mezbaan. My friend loved it butbI found it a bit sour due to uncooked tomato puree. Otherwise it eas amazing. Would love to hear some upbeat/romantic old bollywood songs instead of sad ones.
The restaurant serves North Indian cuisine. I loved the food here. Their menu has more variety than the regular Indian buffets that are present around in Santa Clara. I particularly like the vegan appetizers here because you almost never find those items, being served on a buffet, anywhere else. Their non veg menu is not entirely about chicken which is a good thing. They have delicious lamb dishes on the menu.
Ambience is average, the staff is very polite and the service is usually fast.
My wife, son and I visited for the first time. The dining room was clean and bright. The setup of the buffet is good. I was able to walk around the entire island setup of the many meat and vegetarian options, unlike some other buffet restaurants where everyone bunch up against a wall to reach the buffet. The food was delicious overall, but most curries, including the butter chicken, were not creamy like I have had many times before. Instead, the butter chicken had pools of oil or ghee on top. We were pleasantly surprised a server offered a refill of fresh naan at our table. The self-service mango soft serve was nicely creamy and not icy.
My family and I were here at noon on the last Saturday of July 2019. The restaurant never had more than 3 tables or parties of customers. The price of the buffet is a little higher than a few other Indian buffets we have had in the area.
