I have t been back for 6 years apparently! Well things are a lot different now since the pandemic. They pivoted to a marketplace, deli, and restaurant. You can still order things that they can heat up for you if you’re eating there and they have a lot of ready to eat stuff that you can take to go. I bought some truffle egg salad, salmon, crudite, rosemary potatoes to eat for lunch and they were amazing. Great high quality ingredients. I love their outdoor alcove. Still cute.

Lovely 😊 patio at this San Marino cafe and shop. Coffees ☕️ and wines🍷 and more! Heated covered patio, so much to see inside! They decorate and sell holiday decor, Christmas 🎄 and Valentine’s ❤️ Day! Near the Huntington and would be a great stop after :)

I have occasionally eaten at Julienne's prior to Covid19. This quaint locale is very popular for French cuisine. It is hardly a quick bite. There is always an expected wait for a table because it is a popular local favorite. Since Covid-19, they closed the restaurant dining area [it is now utilized as storage]. Although the Marketplace still exists, this quaint restaurant has been converted to an open Cafe. Unfortunately, with the changes, the Cafe seemed discombobulated. The wait is longer and the menu limited. Short staffed, you have baristas who also take your orders for dine-in. I waited 35 minutes for my Latte, which tasted good. I waited an additional 30 minutes for my Quiche. While my quiche was delicious, the Almond Croissant tasted and felt more like a scone [heavy, neither soft or flakey]. Although I was informed that the "croissant" was baked fresh that morning, it hardly seemed fresh [i.e. The Provisional is a prime example of croissants]. Due to the long wait, suggestion: call ahead and order for take-out or visit the Marketplace for some tasty items. Like myself, several people were unaware of the changes and were disappointed as I was.

The Cafe was so cute and inviting that I stayed there much longer than I planned from the menu to the pastries. It was all very pleasant.

Let's call it what it is... an overpriced snack bar. I had scheduled a business breakfast here based on my fond memories of pre-covid Julienne's.
I arrived early, worried about finding a table, and much to my surprise I found nothing but empty tables and a sign to find my own table and order at the counter.
I sat down to work while I waited and signed onto Julienne Guest WIFI. It requested a password so I went inside to ask for the password. I was told they have NO guest network. I mentioned I was on the guest network and they responded that they would not give me the password.
My guests showed up and we ordered at the counter I asked for my breakfast burrito to be served in a bowl instead of a tortilla and was told there are no substitutions because everything is premade and simply rewarmed.
I felt so bad about the state of this once great restaurant that I left a generous tip.
We received our food on disposable plates with plastic utensils.
The server then stated, "after you are done eating you will need to throw away your own trash and clear the table".
OK, shame on me for NOT realizing Julienne's had changed to this degree. I also know how hard it was to survive Covid as a small business, but if you are going to offer counter service for snack bar food served on disposable plates and ask your customers to clean up after they finish THEN TAKE THE OPTION TO TIP OFF THE RECEIPT.

To be honest, the food was a little bland. The service was good. The wait was a little on the long side. The sandwiches were fresh, but a tad boring. The french toast was really good, but be forewarned, it has the consistency of bread pudding. The strawberry and chocolate waffles were good. If you eat in the patio, it's charming, but slanted and can be a little tight depending on where you're at on the patio. The rosemary bread they serve is marvelous!
It is charming and the store is nice. It was nice enough, but I probably wouldn't go out of the way for it again. However if I found myself in the area, I'd definitely go back and try something else. I like to give a place two shots before I decide it's not for me.

I truly felt as if I was in a cafe in countryside France. The atmosphere and food were wonderful! My wife had the seafood pasta and it was good, her only comment was that the sauce was not as thick as she would have expected from a creme sauce. But it was tasty.
I had the beef sandwich. It was really great! The beef was tender and the juices soaked into the bread; Along with the blue cheese, it was unbelievably delicious. The best thing was the French Fries. They were the best we have ever had!
Definitely on my favorites list now!
