Torchys Tacos

I hate to do this, because my boyfriend and I love this location. However, we love this location because we usually receive better service than what we encountered today. We arrived and at this location, sat down at the bar and prepared to order food and drinks like we usually do. From the outside bar, we spotted the person who delivers food, go outside to a car and begin to pet a beautiful dog (pit bull) in the backseat of a gray SUV. After petting said dog, he walked back inside and out of concern we watched him walk from the car back into the kitchen. He walked straight in and grabbed the food for a group and brought it out to them. Wonderfully quick service, but at NO POINT DID HE WASH HIS HANDS! At that point our bartender walked up and asked what we were ordering & we conveyed what we just saw to him, and let him know our concerns (bc we had planned on ordering food). He seemed taken aback by what we were saying and proceeded to tell us that the hand washing station was right behind the kitchen door to the left…. Little did he know, we already ascertained this information while observing the employee. We tried to be positive and just agreed, however instead of ordering food and drinks we just ordered our drinks and left it at that. I saw the worker go back to that vehicle to play with the dog at least 3 separate times, and what’s worse is our bartenders behavior and attitude immediately changed towards us after we asked about the hand washing habits of the staff. I can understand the feelings he may have felt while being asked about his coworker, but as a person who has previously worked in the food industry… I know that the expectation is that employees wash their hands for at least 30 seconds before handling a customers food. Considering we are in the midst of a pandemic, I don’t think it’s too much for a customer to ask about how their food is handled. Really disappointed in this location.

Ordered 3 tacos, no drinks, about $23.00 Green Chile pork - pretty good. Chicken fajita - not so good, leathery corn tortillas, flavor was soso. Mr Orange - again very tuff, leathery corn tortillas, flavor was just average. Ordered chips and guacamole - pretty good. Maybe if I had went earlier in the day versus a couple of hours before closing?? Headed to Santis Tacos tomorrow. Hopefully that will be a better experience.
