Came here for Sunday Brunch and it didn't disappoint. Very good menu selections, good drinks and a gorgeous outdoor patio. The indoor bar is pretty cool also. Good pricing, good service. The bar service was very slow today. I think because of staffing challenges per our waitress. Will come back. This is easily one of the better places in downtown San Marcos.

Came out for the Tuesday FISH-FRY special .. terrific, super crunchy and fresh. Seemed plenty for me but the hub said could've had seconds. Even the adverised beer was yum. Definitely will return. Great service too!

Makayla was a great server. Good recommendations on their menu selections. Food was great. Service also great. Manager stopped by to check on our table to see if we enjoyed our meal. Of course we did. This is the best restaurant in San Marcos hands down!

I'm not sure where to start here; based on other reviews you'd think we were at completely different restaurants. I'll begin with the conclusion: both my partner and I were in gastronomical distress when we got home.
When we arrived (party of 4), we waited 45 minutes for a table even though we had called ahead (we learned reservations and call aheads are not the same here). However, we were told we could order something at the bar and sit outside while we waited which was nice. It was at this point that we realized they must be extremely short staffed, getting 2 drinks took about 25 minutes.
After we were finally seated, the service was really slow. I don't think it was Clay's fault, I think they were just spread thin across too many tables. It took about 15 minutes to get my drink and about 20 to get our water refilled. They were 'out' of chicken fried steak (which I found odd; what could they be out of? It is made of very simple ingredients...) so 3/4 of the party had to order something else.
I had the Stringtown Chicken and my partner had the Ribeye. For the sides, we both had the mashed potatoes and she had a salad and I had green beans.
My chicken had a good flavor combination but the crust was entirely sogged out, and it was not cooked evenly across the cutlet. My green beans were undercooked and the mashed potatoes were underseasoned. Portion was a bit small (common across the dishes but such is 'fine' dining).
My partner's ribeye was the real issue. Even after sending it back (for having dark red interior, she asked for it medium) it returned very chewy, no change to the exterior browning, and cold inside. The bar manager swears it was not microwaved when sent back but I'm skeptical. Furthermore it was gravely underseasoned; it was clear it wasn't appropriately salted before it was cooked. It was inedible to the point of having to take her somewhere else for dinner after we left.
There's more to be said but really it doesn't affect the conclusion. Maybe we caught an extremely off night but there is simply no excuse for an error this massive at a restaurant in such a high price bracket and status.
Now for the good things: One of the drinks was good, the patio & decor was nice, and the side salads were fine. The bar manager took the inedible ribeye off the tab and said she'd talk to the kitchen staff with the feedback.
We will certainly not be coming back.

Makayla gave the absolute best customer service ever. I ordered the Stringtown Chicken and it was super yummy! We came to have dinner but the restaurant would look really nice as well during the day for lunch. Would definitely recommend!

We love coming to this restaurant whenever we are in the area. The outdoor seating is amazing. Service and food is always top notch.

We don’t go out much, but when we get a babysitter, this is where we like to eat. The food has never disappointed. We almost always get the special. They have full service in the bar and a good happy hour that includes discounted appetizers. The drinks are all very good and the staff always listens and makes ours the way we like. The building and courtyard are all really pretty.
We were here last night and had the fried tomato salad and it was the best salad I’ve ever eaten. That followed but the tenderloin made for an awesome meal. Also, our server makayla was great, and the manager and owner came by our table to check on us. Great date night.

We regularly host private events with Palmer’s and they don’t disappoint. Their staff is super kind and helpful and their event coordinator (Kira) works diligently to make sure our events run smoothly. Misty G now works at the bar but she has waited on our party many times and has amazing customer service. We have personally dined with Palmer’s for brunch many times and the food is always tasty….especially the gluten free pancakes. I want to give props to Sydney and Noah for great service as well! We will be coming back.
