There is always a line here but if I can get to the window in 30 minutes or less I'm pretty happy. Delicious buttered mochi. Service is always quick and attentive, they didn't have shirts in my size so I got a sticker instead. This place is a gem with in the gem that is j town. If you're in the area it is worth checking out.

Stuff runs out so get there early if you want all the flavors. It’s really good, the texture is soft and pillowy. It’s sweet but not too sweet, so you can eat three of these with ease. The Lima bean is really good to try, but all of their choices from the peanut butter to the unfilled ones are delicious.

There is usually a line. I finally bought a box of eight to share with my friends, and they all adore it. So many flavors to pick from, and the outside is wonderfully soft, freshly chewy. A top-notch choice for gifting or treating yourself in the area! Manju in the picture from left to right: Kinako (Lima bean, soy bean powder) Green trea (azuki bean) Peanut butter (Lima bean and peanut butter) Chichi dango: raspberry and melona (without beans)

This place is the last of a dying trade in the area. I went to a similar one in SF Japantown 2 years ago right before the owners retired there. Handmade manju is different than machine made not only in taste, but the amount of love one puts in for one's craft. I didn't make it here 2 years ago, but on my next trip back I decided that no matter what I would definitely make it. I emailed months in advance to make sure that I would arrive at a time when it was open and confirmed dates etc... This place does not disappoint. The texture and flavor are excellent. My expectations were high, but it exceeded them. It was truly worth the wait for me.

If you enjoy Manju/Mochi. This shop should be your one stop in the Bay Area. Be ready for a little bit of wait if you decide to stop by on weekends. Highly recommended the Peanut Butter Mochi or Butter Mochi. Enjoy!

I always pre-order. They usually post their flavors on their FB page. There is usually a line and they sold out early during the weekends. If you have not tried freshly made Manju, then you are missing out. This maybe the last fresh Manju shop in the Bay Area. The other famous Manju shop in Japantown in SF closed already. It’s always a great way to end a meal or a mid afternoon snack. They are naturally VEGAN except for the butter Mochi of course.

Came around 1 PM on a Saturday. Some of the flavors were out of stock but there was still a decent selection to choose from. Little to no wait. Butter mochi is quite good. They also sell a few prepackaged snacks and t shirts.

I absolutely love this manju (mochi) shop in Japantown SJ and our family has been coming here for decades. During the Obon festival they have shaved ice which is very popular! There are huge lines! Very reasonable pricing for the portion. The manju is thee best/most authentic that one can find in the Bay Area. Sadly they were not selling any manju today. Another gem. Please stop by and support this local small business- you won’t be disappointed!

Been coming here nearly weekly for the past couple of months. Worked our way through the entire selection of mochi and manju. The favorites are butter mochi and peanut butter mochi. Still working through all the flavors of chi chi dango (different flavors most days check their Instagram). Preordering via email is possible the night before and recommended if you want to avoid the lines in the morning and ensure you get you choice. If you're new to mochi I highly recommend the peanut butter and chi chi dango. And butter mochi is a must try but a slightly different animal. If you don't feel like dragging yourself to San Jose takahashi market in San Mateo carries a limited selection (which is where we first discovered them).

Came here on a Friday around 12:45 and sadly most of their items were sold out. You can order via email or over the phone though so I will do that next time. There was a line and I had to wait about 10 minutes. I was able to try the yomogi, pineapple chi chi dango, and butter mochi. They were all so delicious! My favorite was the yomogi which had azuki filling inside. This is one of the last few fresh mochi places in the Bay Area so make sure you continue to support this local business!
