Haven’t been to sushi in a while noticed they had outdoor going the other day. Popped in this evening and couldn’t have been more delighted. The hostess was polite and emanated is inside immediately. Great menu with plenty of sake options as well. We had a ton of appetizers and they were all great. The special Salmon skin salad was noteworthy, very crispy and tender meat on a bed of spinach with a balsamic type sauce. Could have easily ordered another. The quality was exceptional. If you are looking for some great sushi this place is great.
Phenomenal! One of the top 5 best meals I've eaten. Splurge to sit at the sushi bar. Chef Billy taught me so much while I savored each bite. The service was impeccable, led by manager Jack. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
One of the best Omakase experiences we've had outside of Japan. They source most of the produce from around Japan and the preparation lets the flavors shine. The service is friendly and welcoming -- great experience.
We had the Omakase menu at chefs table and will definitely be back for the a la carte option as well. 👌
This is my first time experience at a Michelin star restaurant and I really enjoyed it! I booked the reservation around a month earlier to make sure I can pick the date and time I want. They called me to confirm my reservation two days ahead of time and really made sure asking me if I have anything I don’t eat. The food is very fresh and the service is very great. The menu is fixed and actually was not as expensive as I thought (80 usd per person before tax and service fee) - 10 courses! The one thing I didn’t like was it is a little bit noisy when everyone is seated. It’s probably due to small space with a lot of tables very close to each other. Other than that, everything is great!
I really enjoyed the experience here. The staff was extremely friendly and the sushi was fantastic. I've never liked every piece of nigiri were we served at a restaurant so much. We thought it was great value relative to the other top-end places in town. Don't be too snobby for the hot sake. It's good!
Amazing set menu dinner! Each dish was very well done!
Highlights:
- Monkfish liver, which had a fois gras quality to it, soft, rich, buttery
- Akami (tuna) nigiri, dry aged for a few days and marinated in soy, resulting in a very concentrated, umami tuna flavor.
- Tamago, one of the best I’ve had, it had a different, softer texture due to the yam and shrimp in it
- Grilled yellowtail, excellent flavors all around
The most reasonably priced, Michelin starred Japanese restaurant in San Francisco. The chef Billy recently received an advance Kaiseki training in Kyoto and Kanazawa, invited by Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Japan, and his technique got even higher. You can also have upgraded course at the counter.
The meal was thoughtfully prepared, the service was superb! Loved our conversation at the table with the chef. Definitely worth checking out. I miss this meal already!
