Delicious! Beautiful presentation of the food. Encouraged to eat with fork or hands--the traditional way. Many Vegetarian options available. Dishes come with traditional Ethiopian crepe-like bread to scoop up the food. Ethiopian beers available as well. Very flavorful food.
I am in love with Ethiopian food. Everything about it - eating with your hands, sharing from the same dish, the amazing flavours...
Cafe Ethiopia had a nice vibe, friendly service and DELICIOUS food. I'll definitely be back.
I'll always remember Cafe Ethiopia for turning me on to Ethiopian food. Quite possibly my second favorite cuisine ever. Brilliance. Now I wish to find an Ethiopian restaurant in India sometime soon.
Birthday Dinner done right. Had a wonderful Birthday dinner here with some friends and it was delicious. Introduced one pal to Etheopian food that night and he was pleasantly surprised. Food was awesome and the Honey Wine was great. Fun night and I will be back.
The fish tibsi was jaw droppingly good! well spiced, deep flavor, tender and envigorating. also had the whole lentils, house made cottage cheese, beef, and lamb. The place was quiet, and the one guy was serving all the tables, but the vibes were right. I'm coming back for the fish!
Warm, no frills, delicious Ethiopian food! Service was just one guy, so a little slow to take our order, but food came out quick. Some of the best Ethiopian in SF! I got a honey wine / mead to go with the dinner. Been going here for the last 10 years, and will be back again soon!
The main dish for the dinner was amazing. Kudos to the generous quantity as well.
Taste: 5/5. Quantity: 5/5. Freshness: 3/5, Value: 4/5 , Wait time: 4/5.
I felt the injera bread was not that fresh. It wasn't served hot. However it goes very well with the main dish. We ordered a mushroom and alooo peas main dish. It was really flavourful!
Great food at a good price. We were a group of five so they offered to serve us family style. The injera was more flavorful than I've had at other Ethiopian restaurants, and all of the vegetarian dishes were very tasty.
Tried Ethiopian food for the first time and loved it. Had a 3 person shared meal and qty was descent with multiple lentil portions.
First time having Ethiopian food and really enjoyed the experience. Good to try different dishes with friends.
Yummy! Delicious and authentic Ethiopian food in the heart of the Mission. We opted for the Vegetarian platter for 2 and enjoyed everything very much. Prices are reasonable, they have beer and wine (both Ethiopian and American), friendly staff, and the food is great.
Vegetarian platter is delicious! Highly recommend. Restaurant has a nice, cozy vibe. A welcome respite from the trendy spots on Valencia.
Definitely recommend stopping by!
The wait staff was super nice and quick with service. The food was excellent, we ordered family style and I can't for the life of me remember what we ordered but it was all delicious. It was definitely what you'd expect of an Ethiopian restaurant where the 'bread' has the unique spongy texture of typical Ethiopian bread with some flavor but not enough to over power the main dish. I would definitely recommend it. It was definitely good value for money.
Great vegetarian food. We had the platter for 4 and everything was really good, especially the mushrooms. There service was a bit slow and I was surprised they charged extra for more injera.
Excellent Ethiopian food, and decent prices. The Injera was soft and sour, and the food was well spiced. We will definitely return next time we are in town!
I really like Ethiopian food, as it is quite close to indian food, they also uses same kind of spices in their veggies like indian food. We went for lunch. Place was ok, ambiance was quite normal nothing special. It was my second time I tried ethiopian food! I was not much impressed with the food here. It was good but not great. They should work in their food. But you’ll get the place in the busy afternoon here.
Always a great bet with a mixed group omnivores and vegetarians. I went with an Indian friend that never had Ethiopian food and he was pleasantly surprised! We went with the vegetable platter for two and weren’t able to finish. Thank you for the great evening Cafe Ethiopia!
Delicious, fresh, authentic Ethiopian food. The injeera is to-die-for. Really nice vegetarian and vegan options available, generous portions, great service.
Got two orders of the veggie combo so I could try most of the vegetarian dishes (6 total). It was the first time I genuinely enjoyed every. single. one. There's usually one or two lentil dishes at other Ethiopian places that I don't like - but these were all delicious! Super impressed. Highlights were the split lentils & chard dishes.
I had an amazing dinner. Omg everything was beautiful. I really didn't know what to order, the waitress help me out so much. I was getting impatient but she stayed so helpful. Thanks so much.
Organized a group dinner for my company here. Everything was delicious (especially veggie platter, beef, and chicken) and everyone had a great time! A wonderful, truly locally owned spot with very yummy food and a great atmosphere!
The food is pretty amazing here and the service is one of a kind. They have an awesome menu selection and the service staff are the best.
