Max's Opera Cafe - San Francisco - Photo album

We had a small wedding ceremony at City Hall and after we walked over to Max's. Their manager, Sara was so accommodating - we were blown away by the excellent service, reasonable prices and the beautiful space they set for our reception. Thank you, Max's!!!
I love Max’s. I’ve been going for years. Went last night and had a great dinner with the lovely piano man playing the piano. Not something you see a lot of in San Francisco. They currently have a great Passover menu and a special menu highlighting artichoke and asparagus season. The must haves from
What an amazing discovery! We had dinner here before going to a show (we’re from out of town). My ruben sandwich was a true experience. It had LOTS of pastrami AND corned beef on fresh grilled rye. My wife’s french dip was also substantial and tasty. There was no room for dessert, so we came back a
Great food, nice atmosphere. It was a bit crowded at 6:30 PM, the service at beginning was a bit slow. I am sad this time the staff did not sing with the piano.
A charming and casual dining spot. I recently came here for lunch and noticed right away a certain nostalgic vibe about this place. The decor has a throwback feel about it but in a good way. There are a ton of windows that let in great natural light and makes the place feel much larger. The full bar
Loved the crab cakes here! They are thick and flavorful. Comes with cabbage and jicama which is refreshing to have after a bite. Also loved the roasted beets salad, it has corn, feta, avocado and candied walnuts. I got it with skirt steak. Wish I had asked for dressing on the side but next time! Ove
Great place to have drinks before going to the Opera. We really appreciate the great staff and excellent food. Rose the bartender was fun and knowledgeable. They had a huge selection of sandwiches and lots of excellent made desserts. What really sets this place apart is the live music played on a ba
Solidly good with many nice touches — like a piano player, great ice cream and attentive staff. We arrived at 5:30 pm on a Friday and within 40 minutes it was very busy. Popular.
Excellent Service, nice environment, live music (piano) The food was great.
The food was delicious! I ordered a Lamb burger with tzaktiki sauce on the side with potato salad. I over heard that some days they have live piano music 🎹 🎶. Definitely want to come back to see & hear that. Great service on a busy day too.
Very busy Bar & Delicatessen near the Fine Arts District of San Francisco. The bar area was Lively and fun, and we really appreciate that they had live music.
Very friendly staff and fast service. Big portions but tasty, this generally not the case in my experience at restaurants. In general i find that restaurants which offer big portions lack quality and flavor. We had two appetizers two soups and a dessert but still had to take home bunch of food.
This place is a Midwestern diner straight out of 1997. The food is exactly what one would expect with a san Francisco twist. It's not overpriced, the crowd knows what they're getting into. Overall it's pretty good. I'd go back when I'm in the neighborhood
Spanish Piella was more like jambalaya and it lacked spices but I am from Baton Rouge. Key lime pie was most disappointing.
Great atmosphere. Amazing food. Perfect meal spot before going to a concert.
