The Barrel Room - San Francisco - Photo album

Come for the unique wine tasting experience, stay for the delicious and well prepared food! What a novel concept! A restaurant with a rotating wine list and menu, featuring the wines and accompanying cuisine of a different region of the world four times a year. We heard The Barrel Room was known for
Barrel room has a bit of secrecy going on. At first sight, you barely see any dining tables and it feels like a wine bar. It made me think perhaps there is another restaurant with the same name. But don't be fooled. Walk through the bar and there is about 10~15 tables in a cozy alcove. Barrel room
Went here for a business dinner. The food was excellent. I had a beef short ribs dish, which was served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The wine selection was small and exclusively all Italian wines. Not knowing what to order I chose a 2016 red, can’t remember the name but it was excellent.
Came here for restaurant week. The food was really good. The flourless chocolate cake was delicious. The server was really nice as well. It was fun to come on Halloween weekend as they were in costume. We will be back.
Lovely venue, perfect mood lighting in the Financial District, food was on point and the staff was incredibly kind. Peak for me was the fernet cocktail they paired with their dessert, but my understanding is the menu is frequently rotating so you're likely to find a new discovery on a good cadence.
In town for a visit and found this place around the corner from my hotel. My server, Nicki (I hope I spelled it correctly), was fabulous - attendant, but not overly so - and very helpful describing some of the items on the menu and helping me with an after dinner amaro. I went light with a bowl of
Group of four of us had a nice time. The menu was featuring southern Italy. We tried a bunch of wines and one of the cocktails, all of the small plates, and some of the desserts. Two of us showed up early, but we were taken to our table. Our server was very accommodating and patient. He also h
This place is fantastic! I visited for Restaurant Week 2017, and I will definitely want to return. This place is first and foremost a wine place. Their selection of wine is quite large, and a portion of their space is dedicated to simply tasting and lounging. That being said however, their food is b
Barrel Room is one of my favorite places to take friends, whether for happy hour or a business meal. The rotating menu is always delicious, and don’t even get me started on the wine list. Top marks.
The best food in SF for at home delivery during covid. We've been ordering from and dining with The Barrel Room since April and really enjoy all of their dishes — especially the Tuna Salad and Pork Sugo. The team is so friendly and really accommodating. Everything is fresh and they have a great sele
So glad they’re open again. Their wine knowledge and blend of menu is amazing.
Went here for date night during restaurant week so they have pre-fixed menus. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our server made some great recommendations and served with a smile. We started with the coquilles st. jacques (sea scallops) and comte potat
Went there when the seasonal menu was around Portuguese cuisine. They recommended this typical Portuguese sandwich which was very good. I’ve tried the pasteis de nata / Portuguese famous dessert. It was ok, not as good as in Portugal. The service is great, the place also. Can be a little bit noisy f
Google currently says they are closed but they have actually reopened. Enjoyed a really nice meal here for restaurant week.
Got baited by the $8 cocktail. Well, it wasn't. The barman is very friendly and nice guy. Everything else is incredible overpriced. Not a bad place but not worth it.
Charming Speakeasy ambiance without too much kisch or trying to compete in a "how dark can we make this place" contest. Hosts were all knowledgeable, friendly, and informative as we learned about the house cocktails and history of the establishment. We ordered appetizers rather than a meal to get
I was excited by the unexpected wines offered here, so it's worth a look. We got flights so we could try several. The pours were awkwardly leveled and small. I'm not sure why he didn't have a measuring shot like he used to make other drinks. The wine was interesting and tasty. He took the food menu
Have only been here for wine, but there's also beer and cocktail options. Open kitchen, friendly bar service, good location for a casual happy hour. Reasonably priced menu, broad selection of wines from France.
