This team is clever and polished. The service & cocktails, were sensational . The food was outstanding- well executed, interesting flavours and superb presentation. We could have stayed all night and eaten our way through the whole menu. By far the best meal we have dined on in the USA. Delicious I would give 6 stars if I could. World class
Dinner was excellent and tasty. We had the tranquility cocktails and Mister Jiu's taster menu. The whole table must order it. It was a great way to taste the different flavors. We also half order of the duck. Delicious and very flavorful. We were not rushed and service was great. Kept checking in with our table.
Delicious, tasteful, and refined. Loved our experience and it was the perfect final final before baby arrives. Anna was a wonderful touch on the floor and Tim took care of
our every need. He even helped us order the right amount of food vs. pushing unneeded items. We were satiated and pleased with everything, and ordered two desserts to top the evening. I highly recommend!
"Hamilton" was our destination for the night after months of waiting so Mr Jius was recommended and it did not disappoint or make our evening any less spectacular. Actually added to oyrnight
Great meal of a modern twist on Chinese cuisine. Everything was delicious. A MUST for anyone seeking good food. It's a bit noisy because of all the hard surfaces but we made do and we are 64+
Worth it!
Modern, elevated Chinese food. Seriously can't go wrong with this place! Everything from the ambiance to the cocktails are on point. Highly recommended.
Great service from start to finish! My husband and I sat at the bar, ate amazing Dutch crunch BBQ pork buns, yellow peach salad and Liberty Farm roast duck. The duck was beyond delicious! Such a fantastic and memorable meal!!
First impressions. Attention to service excellent. Waiters and their Assistant very good. Food was great for what we ordered. We will go again to expand on extensive menu. It was new to see the food actually being prepared to a degree. Kitchen views was impressive. Like the final inspection of most dishes to be served. Dinning area spacious and decor very tasteful with natural lighting via floor to ceiling window doors.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion. Make sure you make a reservation.
Aaaaahhhhhhhhhmazzzzzzzzing!
Delish! Do not pass this place by!!!
Service was excellent, our server was very knowledgable and helpful. Good portions and interesting twists on classic Chinese dishes. Would definitely come back next time we are in California.
Probably close to a Michelein rated restaurant...Chef totally is.
Noise level ASL...but you're so busy enjoying the food who needs to talk?
Am I returning? Only IF I can get a reservation! Reserve now if you can.
Overall experience as amazing. We had !r Jiu Classic menu, it as delicious. 5/5.
The food was amazing as well as the service, we found this on yelp & i wrote a longer review.
Appetizers are amazing with a fine line of fusion. Entrees (we ordered a whole fish and chicken) are quite disappointing, definitely not worth the price. The fish can be served in any restaurant in China for $20. Next time I will just go to the bar and order appetizers. The other restaurant Empress By Boon has much better entrees.
The dessert is on another level though, refreshing, innovating and not too sweet :)
Brought the family here to celebrate a birthday. It is based in an historic Chinatown building. The service was fun and ambiance lively. They even gave us a little card for the birthday. We loved the modern cantonese cuisine with some western touches. Cocktails were balanced and tasty. The halibut “yusheng” was light and balanced by crunchy seeds. Among my favorites was the giant scallop and pork belly dumpling. The soup inside was delicious. Beef was well prepared and tender. We had the bass and duck for mains. These were executed well and came with elevated sides. Duck was served with pate and chewy pancakes. It was among the more meaty preparations we’ve had and had salty, smoky skin. Dessert was tasty as well.
This is now one of my new favorite restaurants! Everything was superb, from the food to the service to the stunning decor (even the bathroom was gorgeous). My husband and I went for our 1 year wedding anniversary and the staff wrote us a very cute card as a thank you for celebrating with them. Can't wait to come back to try the next seasonal menu and check out the cocktail bar upstairs!
These boys can cook. Big fear amongst Asians is paying top dollar from something their mama can make, but the flavors on some of these dishes were outstanding .
Got the harmony and the tequila drink , tasted like a peanut milk drink, very peanutty kind sweet The spicy tequila drink was balanced and fruity.
Rice rolls with mushrooms, outstanding.
Ma Pao tofu- sensory experience, mouth numbing but flavorful
Chicken friend rice with gravy - 10/10 best FR ever
Pass on the pear salad
Dessert was an ice milk- too light for my gluttonous tongue
$2 for side sauces (kinda penny pinching ) but they were both good especially their in house sriracha
Would definitely bcome back with a bigger group to try the large main shareable dishes
So much food! There is a tasting before the main dish, started with a bite, then a calamari salad (delish), lobster soup dumpling, charred eel with crispy rice, lamb (I believe it was unnecessary) and the the beef noodles (I wish I had an empty stomach or more capacity to eat) we got the leftovers and we were so so so full and very happy. Overall nice and quick service, we didn’t feel rushed or too slow. Recommended 10/10
Came here for my bday and wow what an experience!
Good:
- Loved how there was such a nice ambiance, the place is beautiful
- Each dish was so unique and tasty and good
- Service was good - they checked in on us a lot
- we got the set menu which was awesome - the char Sui dish was great
- Duck and fish were so good as add ons
- Dessert was so yummy and they even had a candle for my birthday
Bad:
- Took too long between courses - it took like 3 hours for the whole meal to be done.
Overall really enjoyed having the experience and meeting people and getting to try this famous place after so long!
My old pal Harley Krakenbacker just moved back from Saigon and wanted to go get dinner with me, so I thought I'd take him to Mister Jiu's. I picked him up at his house out on Broadway and said we'll go to Mister Jiu's for Chinese food, he said no way! I've had nothing but Asian food for 2 years, I want a cheeseburger and fries ...So I dropped him off at the Hippo and I went to Jiu's for Chinese.
Could not get a reservation so we did à la carte menu for walk-in diners at the bar. Supplemented the baby bok choy and fried rice with the signature, family-style roast duck with burnished skin. AMAZING and way too much for 2 people.
We got the tasting menu and the Peking duck. GET THE PEKING DUCK IT IS SO GOOD and authentic.
Overall the food is decent, but a little on the salty side for every dish. So if u can, definitely get something sweet for drinks.
Had a superb experience late Saturday night. We had three people, one with a wine pairing and one with a non-alcoholic pairing with the duck to cap it off. Absolutely incredible service, with perfect pacing and constant attention. Food was top-notch, with exquisite flavors that brought traditional Chinese and San Francisco classics together in a unique and tasty combo. Dessert was a delicious finish that was rich and delightful without being too sweet.
Really good cuisine deep in the heart of Chinatown. Fantastic Chinese food in a great looking dining room equals a great experience. The clay baked fish was amazing, especially they way it was dressed. The squid ink dumplings were super succulent. Amazing friend rice and book choy. And the rice rolls my favorite were awesome. They had a nice drink selection as well as some inventive cocktails. The service was fast and super friendly. It was definitely worth the experience and a must try for all foodies.
Dos dumplings up 🥟🥟
We ate as bar walk-ins. The Happiness cocktail (gin, mandarin honey and alpine bitters) was great with shrimp chips flavored with salt and vinegar, yellowtail yuzu and the wonderful puffed sourdough scallion pancakes with soubise and caviar. We also had a chicken cabbage salad and beef chow fun, both of which could have been less drenched in their respective tasty sauces. The Old Fashioned was superior to any other version of the classic drink.
I like their twist on Chinese food but I wouldn’t pay for it again. The snow peas are good so maybe the snow peas.
Securing a dinner reservation for three, we headed to San Francisco for the weekend. Every item on the tasting menu impressed us, and the addition of duck was a good decision.
My ultimate favorite was the day boat scallop and pork belly dumpling—their in-house xo sauce was exceptional, and I wish I could purchase a bottle! Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I look forward to returning for the next tasting menu.
The food was delicious as always! We especially loved the silken tofu (with the tomatoes it kind of tasted like burrata salad!) and the eggplant. We also tried the noodle with mushroom instead of meat (the noodle was a fun texture), the scallion pancake (not bad but it’s plainer than the other dishes and very fried), and the smashed cucumber salad (which was refreshing). The service was very good.
I just wish they had more vegetarian protein options on the menu.
Magnificent food! I would recommend the quail, the cabbage, the prawn crackers and the pancake. If you are ordering from the bar menu, trust the staff… who are amazing. Thank you so much, it made our night magical 🧪🥄🤜🏻♥️
