My favorite coffee shop in San Diego. It really feels like locals come here and the prices are so reasonable and the quality is still strong. I usually get the matcha smoothie or PB&J smoothie. The pastries are hard to resist and I usually cave and order something sweet here.

Friendly staff, cute and varied pastries, and the hot food (crepes, paninis, etc. ) is all high quality. Sometimes there's a short wait for the hot food, but not so much that you can't get your food on an hour lunch break and take it back with you. They also have smoothies and coffee.

Small little bakery with a nice selection of pastries; guava/cheese turnover was especially delicious. Nice little on-the-go spot.

The cold brew coffee was great, and a much welcomed alternative to Starbucks down the street. No major line to wait in. I will say that the atmosphere was a bit blah. Environmentally could be a bit more intentional with the design. Food wise it was great though and worth the walk.

I frequent this cute café for lunch during the workweek. Cute, cozy, nice views of the ballpark, and kind staff. I've tried many of the salads, sandwiches, paninis, and croissants. Everything is tasty with fresh ingredients. Definitely recommend supporting this small business!

Cafe de l'Opera has quickly become my go-to spot for delicious baked goods. With a heart full of satisfaction, I can confidently rate them 5 stars. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance of a small neighborhood cafe. The interior creates an atmosphere that is relaxing. Whether you're seeking a tranquil moment alone or a friendly catch-up with loved ones, Cafe de l'Opera caters to all your needs from breakfast to baked goods to take home or to the office. Now, let's talk about the real star of the show – the pastries! I must say, whoever is in charge of their baking is a true culinary genius. Their lineup from cinnamon rolls to croissants are a feast for the senses, perfectly balancing flavors and textures. Every bite feels like a symphony of taste, leaving you craving for more. The selection of pastries is extensive and varied, ensuring there's something to please every palate. The croissants are an absolute masterpiece; their flaky and buttery layers melt in your mouth, transporting you to pastry paradise. And let's not forget about the delectable macarons and cupcakes, each a work of edible art. From rich chocolate indulgences to tangy fruit sensations, the flavors are spot-on and the presentation is impeccable. Moreover, the staff at Cafe de l'Opera is friendly, attentive, and passionate about their craft. They take the time to explain the different pastries on offer, making helpful recommendations based on your preferences. Their genuine enthusiasm for the culinary creations only adds to the overall experience. The cafe itself is clean and well-maintained, reflecting a commitment to quality. Whether you choose to enjoy your treats in the cozy indoor seating area or opt for one of the outdoor seats, you'll find yourself in a welcoming environment that makes you want to linger with your laptop. To top it all off, Cafe de l'Opera offers a "decent" latte to complement your baked goods. In summary, Cafe de l'Opera is a haven for baked goods enthusiasts. With their exceptional pastries, delightful atmosphere, and friendly service, this cafe is a hidden gem in East Village. If you're searching for a place to satisfy your sweet tooth and experience culinary bliss, look no further. Highly recommended!

Chose this after reading previous reviews and what a gem of a find. Really wanted an almond croissant with my coffee and how lovely this was to find one. Great service as I wanted a decaffeinated coffee and the owner really went out of her way to make the style of my choice. Beautiful cups and plates really added to the French vibe. We visit France regularly and this little cafe definitely gave an authentic French feel. Enjoyed it so much we'll return again today on our last morning in San Diego.
