Sorrentino's Pizza

They were not joking! The Big lunch combo is big. The two slices of pizza were huge and delicious. Plus it came fresh out of the oven! The restaurant looks just like it did when I first started going there more than 5 years ago. With all of the stuff that's changed in the shopping center, I'm glad that it's still there. I'm glad that I decided to go back and try again after I had left because I had waited at the counter for maybe two minutes for a cashier. I recommend they get a bell.

This place has been in the neighborhood for over 20yrs. They got real good sandwiches the All Pro sandwich hot is the best hands down. They got a slice special two slices an a soda for a couple bucks. The meat lovers pizza OMG they hook up the meat on this pie. The guy at the counter skinny with glasses is super cool. The fat cook can use some customer services classes! At times he can be a lil rude but hey fight fire with fire when anybody acts rude.

I've been coming here since the 1980s back when they were over by the closed PO Box room and next to a pet store, same lot different building. Later fond memories of their sit-down restaurant which is now the cell phone store next door, I believe a daughter or wife ran that area. Often talked to Mr Sorrentino and his family, complained direct to the old man when they changed the pizza crust way back when to it's current form, used to be closer to Filippi's crust which is San Diego famous but he had a good reason for the change (oven blowers clogged with flour). Nowadays the food can be somewhat inconsistent due to different employee owner operators or whatever's going on, still good and still five stars. Used to be the absolute best Italian food anywhere so far as I'm concerned, had Italian all over the world and Sorrentino's New York immigrant neighborhood style is still the best and most authentic (which might be considered bland in certain cases) that you're going to get in Clairemont.

Been looking for a great mom and pop pizza joint in the local area for years. Decided to give Sorrentinos a shot tonight and I am not disappointed. They make the best pizza in Clairemont! Great crust. Great sauce. Fresh toppings (plentiful as well). The dough was cooked perfectly. Not thick and doughy or too thin and soggy. Will definitely hit them up again.
