Have spent the last 3 years with this being our go-to spot for celebrations. Omakase is pricey (in general), so I would hardly call us regulars, but the staff always makes us FEEL like regulars despite the fact that we visit the restaurant only a couple times per year. They’re amazing at remembering our names, previous conversations, and making us feel like we’re part of the family (especially Jenny, she’s worked there for 5+ years and has been incredible every single time we’ve been in) The FOOD speaks for itself. Perfectly curated bites that will leave you dreaming of the next time you get to go back. The fish is always incredibly fresh and the flavors are unlike any other. We’ve had the pleasure of sitting with Head Chef, John, who is of course amazing; but also chefs Sam and Peter who truly make incredible sushi and are a pleasure to chat with. We have also recently been served by Michael and Jiro; who are both top notch: great service, funny, kind, and just feel like you want to be their friends! Truly could not recommend this restaurant more

Succulent sushi, with impeccable service. The omakase menu included 18 pieces of nigiri. The last bite with yellowtail, uni and truffle was out of this world and so buttery.....

Best sushi in San Diego. Price is a bit high for the relative lack of complexity/diversity. For someone interested in an omakase experience who doesn’t travel this is a great option. Addition of 3-4 hot dishes (which I understand they do the first Sat/Sun of the month) would significantly improve the value proposition/experience. If you do not have a broad palate or are picky avoid this and all omakase experiences.

Hidden Fish in San Diego offers an exceptional dining experience. The food is simply awesome, with a wide variety of sushi and other Japanese dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. The freshness and quality of the ingredients shine through in every bite. The ambiance at Hidden Fish Sushi is a perfect fusion of modern sophistication and traditional elegance. The minimalist decor, intimate seating, and soft, warm lighting create a serene atmosphere that is ideal for savoring every bite of the carefully crafted sushi. It's a dining space that immerses you in the essence of Japanese dining. The service at Hidden Fish Sushi is a testament to their commitment to excellence. The staff is attentive , very knowledgable and extremely friendly making you feel special at the table. They take the time to explain the sourcing of ingredients and the chef's philosophy, making you feel like you're part of a culinary journey. Hidden Fish Sushi offers a sushi experience that is nothing short of extraordinary. We ended up ordering the Omakase tasting menu and it definitely was well worth it. The fish is exceptionally fresh and expertly prepared. Each piece of sushi was a work of art, a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that showcased the chef's mastery of his craft. We loved the hamachi, oyster, chawanmushi (loved it absolutely) and as well toro that was so rich in taste. An absolute must do if you happen to be around !! Cheers!!!

One of the best meals I’ve had. Went here on a date and loved how small and intimate it was. Our chef was amazing. We are still dreaming of the tuna.

Rice was a bit bad. Rice was cooked too soft a while ago so was too broken. A little too much vinegar. Fish was fantastic, flavor combos were solid.

My first Omakase and oh my goodness it was a great experience. They encourage you to eat with your hands so I didn’t take very many photos.. when you first walk in, it’s a little chilly but that’s because they meet to maintain the temperature inside for the fish. The first dish is a snow crab with a pea cream and roe on top. The snow crab was perfectly cooked, the pea cream was so soft, and surprisingly delicious! I also got a picture of the Uni+ikura was so creamy, I had never had uni before but I loved it! And the toro tartar was the last bit we got and I thought it was okay.. I really enjoyed the Golden Red Snapper, Albacore, Bluefin Tuna and the O Taro. As the chef creates the next roll the consist of more and more juicy and fatty pieces and by the end of the night, the second to last bit (O Toro) basically melted in your mouth… I almost ordered it again but I was so full by the end of the meal. The chef doesn’t talk too much but will answer questions you have and also tell you what he is serving you and where it is from. The bathroom was super clean. And price wise, with a drink you’re looking at about $180 with tip per person. This was a great experience and I highly recommend trying omakasa at least once.

My wife and I came here with a reservation for the omakase. The experience was really great and fun. The staff was friendly and informative with the menu and ingredients. Our chef was Steven, and our server was Joshua. We ordered a bottle of sake to drink during the omakase, which went great with everything. Each course the chef served was amazing and delicious. There was not one that we did not like. Even the fish-to-rice ratio was spot on. We even ordered extra at the end of the course. The omakase is pricey, but definitely worth it. We have done quality sushi at the fish markets in Japan, and this was at Japan's quality level. We would definitely come back and do an omakase again.

This was my first Omakase experience and it was amazing! Every piece was created with a carefully crafted palette in mind. The executive chef really dedicates his time to his work and you can tell by the menu list, quality of food, and the team he brought together. Everything was delicious and the wine/beer/sake list paired well with the meal. I would eat here again! (I included just a few picutres of the items we had).

Amazing omakse! Found this place on a website suggesting omakase restaurants around San Diego while planning a trip. They had 3 different seating times to choose from. Serving staff was very attentive and friendly. Restaurant was really clean and they were sanitizing between seating for a covid precaution. The price was on the higher end, but definitely worth it. After you finish the 18 course omakase, you can order additional pieces. They also offer several sakes and a sake tasting.
