We sat on the small patio, which was lovely. Ordered off the happy hour menu, the prices are pretty good. Service was good. Sliders were pink in the middle, which most people like. Kids love the sweet potato fries. Two small fries us about the same price as a large and its easier to eat them hot rather than having one large basket that gets cold before you are done. MaiTais, mules and margaritas were good.

We came here at night. It wasn't very busy. The food was good, burger was nothing to take home about. The French fries was good, not sure if it is bottomless like I remembered. Service was a bit slow in attending to us. No one really stopped by to ask if everything was ok. We ordered a smoothie at the end and it was waaayyy too sweet. Couldn't finish it. Other than that, it is a decent place for a meal. Just wished that the service can improve.

Came for dinner around 18:45, returning after being away for almost 8 years. This was a favorite back then. The atmosphere and environment hasn't changed. It's the same look and and showings on the TVs (sports game, and surfing/snowboarding/ skiing clips). Their beer is new to me, so I got their flight. The Wheat Wave ended up being my favorite out of their three brews. The food hasn't changed much. I ordered the Malibu with truffle fries. My wife ordered the Kilauea with sweet potato fries. Our fries came out hot and fresh about 20 minutes after ordering. Our burgers about 50 minutes, which we ended up taking to-go because of the long wait for it. Eating the burger at home, it still had the good flavor, which I remember from the past. The service was below average. We had to ask for things for our fries more than once, and never got topped off on our waters while waiting. Never got up real updates on our burgers after getting our fries other than that they are coming. I'll come back for the food, but not likely dine-in; just do take-away.

We went to Islands a lot before pandemic. And this time, I found they changed their menu so we went back to give a try. Their foods are kind of typical bar foods, but their burgers are super delicious. Their cocktails are tasty as well. They are definitely better than regular bar foods. We both ordered burger. But they didn't cook the burger patty right, since we orders medium or medium rare, but they cooked both very well done. I still loved the flavor but my husband sent the burger back. The staffs were really helpful and returned a perfect medium rare burger back very quickly, and my husband loved it. We will go back for sure for some casual dinners.

Always a pleasure eating and relaxing at islands. The atmosphere is perfect for solo or group dining. Service can be sparse or slow at busy times which is kind of always, but always super friendly and accommodating. One tiny complaint I have here is that the ranch has gotten super watery, it's always been thin but it's so good. This last time it was like it had been mixed or thinned out with milk which was kind of disappointing. All around recommend but if you feel the ranch is watery let the server know so they hear it from customers and maybe fix it!

Mandy our server was beyond awesome. She was quick with the orders yet patient with everyone in the group while making lunch choices. She was friendly and checked frequently but not obsessively intrusive making sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant was neat and clean and all the employees were customer friendly and focused on service.

I’ve been to Islands several times, but the service on this visit was exceptional. Our food was cooked well and tasted fresh. The atmosphere was clean and organized. We ordered the Shorebird, Hawaiian, quesadilla, and the fries. Our server was Caitlin. She checked back with us often and answered all of our questions. She helped made our visit smooth and enjoyable. Thank you again for your great customer service!

Amazing dining experience, sports bar feeling, great ambience, good food, good service. We ordered heat wave chicken burgers, onion rings, fries, tortilla chicken soup. Everything was delicious. The fires and onion rings were really crispy great combination with beer. I added mashrooma nd pineapple on my burger and it added extra taste. Our next go to restaurant after 9 pm.

Out for a happening yet not-so-noisy place? Choose Islands on Mira Mesa.
It has the perfect ambience to give you enough privacy and a good feel that you're not the only folks dining.
One should specially try their Chocolate shake! It's the richest one I've tasted here in San Diego.
Other parts of the menu like Sandwiches and Tacos are amazing as well!
Servants are very friendly- James, our servant always used to knee down so he could hear the seated customers better and also to not let our necks strain from looking up constantly.
Overall, I don't have any complains about this place and I shall keep coming back!

My favorite is the root beer that they brew in-house and use in their floats. I have wonderful memories of having floats with my Dad before he passed. Service is always fast and friendly. Food is delicious and hot.

The bartenders here are extremely personable and friendly and OMG the tortilla soup is to die for!!! I love coming here and just sitting at the bar and eating, having some wine and talking to other customers and the bartenders!!

This restaurant has delicious fish or chicken tacos. And one time I ordered their cheese cassidias appetizer for a meal along with the rest of our parties meals and it came too our table barely warm cause it was not served first like appetizers are suppose to be cause I wanted it to come with everyone elses meal and they explained that, apologized, scratched it from our bill and surprised us with a 10.00 Islands gift card. It pays to be a regular there!!
