Troy's Family Restaurant

I went on a Tuesday and ordered one of the specials, the meatloaf and mashed potatoes with gravy. The meal also came with a tomato based beef and barley soup. I would describe the meal as prototypical comfort food. I had some food to take home as the portions were large. Service was fantastic. Fyi, the clientele here tend to be on the experienced side of life.

Family owned. The food is ok, the staff is good, the booths are old and the prices are decent. It's nothing to write your mother about, however it is a place that you want to bring her. We keep coming back. I love the good old fashioned patty melt. My wife's favorite is the Slovakia. Most of the customers are older generations (my wife and I are in our 50s) however there are younger people also. Usually I end up talking or joking with other patrons. Rarely disappointed.

I have been coming to the wonderful restaurant since 1979. The food is fabulous. And the most wonderful part of this treasure, the food always tastes the same. They never change the recipe, the same flavor over the years. Incredible I'd say. And you must try their Blue Cheese dressing on one of their fabulous Hamburgers. You'll never go anywhere else.

Troy's is a favorite of Clairemont/Bay Ho and University City residents. It's a veritible landmark and has been there for at least the 33 years I've lived in the area and likely much longer. The servers are very polite and make the customers feel like VIPs. The meal choices are good. Breakfast there is very cordial, and if I must say so it's like breakfasts I enjoyed as a kid over 65 years ago. The cooks are fantastic and fast! The owner "Georgia" is there almost every day. Troy's provides no competition with Denny's as it's a fantastic cafe serving 3 meals a day

Good food every time I have been. Servers are always very cordial, and food is served fast. Nothing fancy, just a good basic breakfast place. If you are desiring something fancy, then you better direct your compass to La Jolla or Del Mar. If you are an average Joe like me, then this place will most likely do just fine.
