Sammy's Woodfired Pizza & Grill - Del Mar

We had dinner at Sammy’s in One Paseo and had the best experience thanks to our waitress Heilna. I am on a very strict diet and Heilna ran back and forth asking the kitchen to accommodate my requests. She was friendly, helpful and hard working. She made our experience extremely enjoyable. Thank you to Heilna and the kitchen for accommodating my requests.

Sammy's was our favorite place to dine and celebrate birthdays for many years in the past but we didn't come here for several years. Today we went and I felt kind of nostalgic. They are probably one of the long standing businesses on Del Mar Highlands Plaza, so many others gone, like Casa Sol y Mar, that was leveled and replaced with a parking lot, or Sushia and IHop. Anyway, this place is still running and still have my favorite Mini Duck Tacos and Mini Wagyu Beef Hamburgers. And they have Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina too!

We hosted a casual dinner for about 25 friends and family members at Sammy’s Del Mar. Justin and Javier were very helpful in planning the seating arrangements and the menu’s. They were very accommodating to our large group. Heather, our server, was extremely attentive and provided us with great service. The food was delicious, as always! I would definitely recommend Sammy’s to anyone who hasn’t been- the food is yummy and the atmosphere is always fun!

Quality: I give a good rating. Reminds me of California pizza kitchen for some reason. May be because of non traditional pizza toppings. The Asian bbq salad is delicious. The kids meal are okay. I tried the kids meal myself. The portions are adequate for kids. The original score is 4 out of 5. This is the first visit for me. So I can’t comment on reliability. However, I probably wouldn’t come back if I were to visit SD again, because I’m not pizza crazy.
