Hands down the best Italian restaurant in San Diego. It is actually the best Italian food I have ever had (but I am not Italian and haven't been to Italy) so I can't speak for everyone. Let's start with the food which matters the most here. The menu has a great selection for anyone coming here. From offering pizza, pasta, chicken, seafood and meats. The following is what we ordered Bruschetta: AMAZING - thick fluffy warm bread with heaping amounts of bruschetta and thick creamy chunks of cheese. Fusilli Pasta with Italian Sausage in spicy red sauce: I couldnt decide between sausage and meatballs so I asked if they could do half and half and they congratulated me on the idea because they "love experimenting" The dish I was served was beyond delicious and would recommend it for everyone to try (also the portion could easily serve 3). Lasagna: This wasn't your typical lasagna this was much better served drenched in the most tasty cheesy sauce that youd lick the bowl for before you left a drip behind. Now for the service, we came in and were greeted and seated right away to whatever table we chose - we ended up choosing the bar for happy hour specials. The waiter and bartender waiting on us were beyond welcoming, friendly and insightful to the menu. I was unable to make up my mind on what to order so they allowed me to make substitutes to the Fusilli pasta I ordered with out even having to check with the chef. Throughout our meal they both constantly checked on us to see how things were and if we needed anything else. The bartender Kyle was even pretty new there and you wouldn't even realize. I was unable to get the servers name. Happy Hour is everyday from 5- 7PM where they have some great drink specials and even better specials on their appetizers. Don't feel as if you need to be here in time for happy hour though their prices are very reasonable and portion sizes huge.

I don't understand the reviews here at all. The food my family and had was absolutely disgusting and appeared to have been made by extremely incompetent chefs. We received overcooked rubbery scallops and what appeared to be trader Joe's mushroom ravioli. I ordered a cheese and assorted meat platter as my meal which any good Italian restaurant would easily create. The "meat and cheese" platter included Canadian bacon, wine flavored cheese, spam, and a big pile of rasins and walnuts. I expected fine Italian meats, or at least salami from the meat platter at Costco. Worst of all, each plate was at least $15, some of them even $20. From looking at other reviews, it appears that we had a bad experience, which makes me even angrier. The meat platter shown in other reviews doesn't match what I was given. It's sad to believe they don't treat all their customers the same.

This was my boyfriend and I's first visit to San Diego together. When searching for an Italian restaurant to have dinner at, we found this great place with mostly positive reviews so we decided to try it out. One of the great features is it's located downtown with tons of other unique restaurants and bars. So after having a meal you're able to walk just across the street or so to have a few drinks. Once inside Postino's the atmosphere is very calm and inviting, we were seated almost instantly and the waiters were very attentive. They helped us choose the perfect wines for the plates we were interested in and the food was AMAZING. I had the bow tie pasta with salmon chunks in a light but sweet red sauce. My boyfriend had the shell shaped (round finger pressed) pasta with sausage meatballs and spinach. Both of us were completely satisfied with our choices and even had leftovers to take home because the servings were rather large but no complaints about that. We would defiantly recommend!

Food is amazing there! I had the black linguine with shrimp and vegetables in a cream sauce. It was so delicious. The shrimp was cooked on point and the black linguine was just right! Comes with complimentary bread, but make sure you don't fill up on the water and bread before your meal. They do a decent portion size for pasta! Definitely glad I was recommended to come to my friend's favourite Italian spot. It's worth the value and one of the best Italian places I've been to! Service was decent. The waiter was attentive to our water levels, food pace and checked in with us for take-away containers. Menu was easy to comprehend and great recommendation/explanation from our waiter for any questions we had. Location was decent, parking was tough, but the restaurant has parking in the back. Make sure you don't get confused with the parking for the La Boheme condominiums and follow the retail signs on the parking garages on Ohio Street in the back! Parking is complimentary to the restaurants in the front. Park there, and ask the restaurant for the parking sign! No need for parking frustrations on the street!

Great traditional Italian food! The restaurant has a relaxed, but nice vibe as well as lots of space for groups. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Their happy hour is wonderful, with cheap appetizers and drinks.

Something weird at this place. The first time we went, we sat at the bar for happy hour. The bartender said she did not get her wine shipment in so she did not have much wine to choose from. We went a couple of weeks later and my husband ordered a Manhattan and the bartender said she did not have any sweet vermouth. Very weird. There was not one person seated in the dining room. One other man came into the bar. So total, there were 3 of us in the restaurant. The food is ok but nothing spectacular. I think they might be going out of business. Oh, and they do not seem to have a web site.???

Food was awesome. Plates are very generous, both of us didn't finish our plate. Service was great too. Wine bottles were really really cheap compared to what we usually see (lots of bottles under 25$).
