This is a great little bbq place. My wife and I went twice on our weekend in San Diego. The service was prompt, and the bbq is good. They lean really heavily into the top gun appearance - lots of cool movie paraphernalia! I highly recommend their bbq beans and burnt ends. Very tasty.

Wonderful service by Marcie. She was the only waitress and it was pretty busy. There were a few items that were given to us by mistake, but to be fair, there were 14 of us, but it was taken care of right away. Food was great and so many iconic "Top Gun" paraphernalia like the famous piano from the sleazy bar scene to check out.

A great place to visit if you’re in town. They have a ton of Top Gun memorabilia. Definitely worth stopping in. I’m from Kansas City, and I appreciated that they had local beers from the KC area. The bar tender was very friendly, and it felt like he was putting on a show. This is probably the cheapest place to drink in the area.

I have been by here in the past but I hadn’t had the opportunity to try it out. This is where the bar scene of Top Gun (the first one) was filmed. They play it up, so you should not be surprised. We arrived when they opened at 11am which allowed us to beat the conference crowds. We enjoyed the BBQ chicken and pulled pork plate. The onion rings were good and moist. The chicken fell off the bone and was juicy. The BBQ sauce is very sweet, it was good even though I prefer a little more heat in my BBQ sauces. I will definitely be back

Context: Just looking for somewhere for quick dinner super close to hotel while feeling tired and anti-social at a conference. I stumbled across this place and only when in there did I realise the Top Gun connections. For some people, I suspect this could be a pilgrimage place. Positives: Friendly, quickly, massive food portions. I have the brisket with beans and fries. Pretty good. Negatives: None Summary: Worth going for the food

I love the Kansa City BBQ so much where the original Top Gun was filmed at. The movie was released on May 16th, 1986, and the scenes that were filmed include Great Balls of Fire and the finale when Maverick and Charlie were dancing to You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling by the Righteous Brothers. I knew that was my dream of coming to the BBQ place and my family and I enjoyed our dinner meal so much. We had brisket, pulled pork, ribs, cheesy corn, and potato salad. Thank you for having us and we love the Tom Cruise movie the best!

Very cool to see the memorabilia and eat in a location where a scene from Top Gun was filmed! The wait staff were incredibly friendly. The food was good, but not great. The brisket I had was a little dry, but the sauce helped.

The bar was packed with memerobilia. Do you want to see hats from every single USS navy ship hanging from the ceiling? Do you want to see random license plates from every state and province? Do you want to see a ceiling fan covered in bras of all sizes? This place has atmosphere. The service was great and friendly. The meat was good but a little on the dry side. If you dipped it in the sauce then it was great. Onion rings were really good too.

Kansas City Barbeque is no Michelin 5-star establishment. Just a fun, gaudy, greasy spoon eatery made famous by an iconic movie about elite Navy pilots. Located near Seaport Village and about 1/2 mile from the San Diego Convention Center, a fun place to get some bbq, put on your aviator sunglasses and pretend you're Maverick or Goose.

If you're a fan of Top Gun you have to go and visit this place. All the memorabilia from the bar scene in the first Top Gun is right at this location. The barbecue was good... The beer was cold... It's definitely a place you got to stop if you get a chance...
