Review Bread & Cie - San Diego

Micah Weesner
Bread and Cie was such a great lunch spot. It’s a little French bakery with a very deli-like experience. The service was great and they got the food out to us quickly despite the higher volume. The sandwiches were so good and the bread itself was clearly made fresh that same day. This is a great little sandwich spot!

My favorite go to casual breakfast place with European vibes! I love everything about this place- the food, the parking, location, and especially the top notch service! Do try their salmon benedict basket, french toast panini and their orange juice is to die for!

Excellent Baked Bread and pastries! I wish I could grab bread off their racks daily! Parking is non-existent so go with a friend or pray to the parking gods for mercy. I want to order everything when I am there but I usually walk with an Olive loaf and sweet pastry when I go. So far MY baked best in San Diego.

I love this place. I have been going there for years every time I am in San Diego. The pastries are out of this world and their latte is divine!

Excellent food and deserts. They offer a wide variety of bread for purchase to go. The seating area is limited inside but they do have patio seating available.

It's very busy, but there are multiple employees taking orders, so it's pretty quick. The spinach quiche and the almond pear tart are delish. I also got a yogurt cup with peach compote. I prefer a smooth yogurt, this one not so smooth, the compote was good, not too sweet, i think it's made in-house, My friend had the smoked salmon plate & pistachio croissant, she said both were good. The coffee was good & strong too. The dessert case had so many choices, they were all so pretty. Service was good, polite employees. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The parking was limited, there's a parking lot in the back and street parking (good luck).

I do not like sourdough. For those that do, you have plenty of options here. For the rest of us on the west coast that haven’t quite adapted to hoppy bread, this place is great. The croissants are made so well that you can frame them. But that’s not all. There is fennel in the seed mix of the seeded breads. The right dose of fennel in seed mix is so decadent that it is bijoux bread at its best.

Husband, daughter (baby 2 months) and I, came to this place on Columbus Day. We had no idea that they would be closing early due to holiday (Columbus Day). They were close and all register shut down. However, manager and cashier immediately attended us besides the fact, and offer loaf of bread on the house. We ended up just taking 2 slices of cheese Danish, and my goodness they were Amazing!!! Not too sweet and now too soft, just perfect! but what impress us the most, was the customer service. Arriving when they were technically closed, and still listening to us, attending us, and offering to help, and even giving us free bread without charging us is beyond impressing and amazing and kind, especially in these difficult times we live in. I will definitely be coming back to get their famous chocolate croissant and for their amazing customer service. 100% recommend!!!!

My latte was very good and the pastries even better. I got the Chocolate almond Croissant and the Pistachio Croissant and shared them with my Mom. Delicious!! Will definitely be going back for another visit. Their bread looked and smelled amazing.

Found this “pit stop” on our way to the 6th bridge (Vermont St) of our urban hike. It was refreshing! Lots of choices in the menu. Food tastes good and service was friendly and quick. This was on 2/14/22 around 1pm and there were several tables available, some with partitions for social distancing.

Bread & Cie is my favorite place to go to in Hillcrest. The owner is very sweet and the food is amazing. I occasionally go there to do some work and treat myself to either an almond croissant or their mushroom panini and it makes me feel so happy each time. I honestly believe you could get anything off their menu and it'd be good.

Received many recommendations to try this bakery. Indeed atmosphere and service are excellent - came around opening time on a week day to avoid the crowds. i’ve been on a hunt for a good quiche like the ones i can find in bakeries in France. Something about the flakiness of a crust and the variety of ingredient choice is hard to find in the states. indeed 4 stars because while the atmosphere and service were great, the food didn’t meet the hype. i will still be on lookout for a quiche like the ones in Europe.

Very busy at 9am on a Wednesday morning. But the line up moved fast. Pastry products look/taste amazing, most importantly very fresh.

Bread and Cie is a good bakery. It's very busy inside so try getting things to go. Order the sampler which allows you three different types of bread and some spread. I weirdly liked the onion bread the most. I didn't try anything but bread, but it alone has me interested in trying more items!

We had bad service down the street at better buzz & ended up here, and thank God! Wonderful service, fresh bread & quiche was the best I have ever tasted!

Bread & Cie Bakery & Café What can I say about Bread & Cie Café? This place has been around for years and is one of the top bakery’s in San Diego. We come here for the amazing baked goods that are stand-alone delicious. The cinnamon rolls, the muffins, fruit pastries, the various quiche they have. The breads are out of this world great! I miss this bakery and it is a must go when I visit San Diego. We have nothing that is as good as this amazing place here in Seattle. At least I have not found it to date. HappuccinoLife.com

Still addicted to Bread & Cie! Tried their Cheese top muffin with soft boiled egg inside. So beeautiful & tasty! Another morning I had a sweet tooth & had the Mocha layered pastry. OMG Out of this world. Their COFFEE is sooo flavorful, I drink it with only raw sugar. I'll be back!

I have loved this place for years, but yesterday we picked up pies for Thanksgiving. My god! The best pies we have ever had! The chocolate creme pie was delicious, and the pumpkin/cranberry was amazing! Combining Layers of cranberry gelee with pumpkin lent an extra tang to the pie which was a welcome change! Bravo!

A yummy bakery that offers a selection of breads and desserts options as well as a menu that caters to breakfast, lunch, and brunch. The lot parking can get a bit tight.
