So I want to start off with that I'm 99% sure that this restaurant has officially renamed itself Dockside 1953 recently. It was just called Cafe Bahia when I was there two months ago. Anywho, this was my last full day of vacation in San Diego. I was preparing to go to Sea World, so I stopped by this place for an allegedly amazing breakfast.
The atmosphere was nice. Faux swank that you'd find in a restaurant nestled inside of a hotel you would never pay that much money to stay at. It's a simple menu, but everything on it sounds really good. The friendly serving staff was quick to make recommendations, which I always like.
I ended up ordering the Chilaquiles (Fried Corn Tortillas, Ancho Chile Tomato Sauce, Refried Beans, Cilantro, Pickled Onion, Avocado, Queso Fresco, Two Eggs Any Style). I ordered my eggs scrambled. And oh my goodness this was a good dish. The corn chips were so thick and crispy and not oily at all. They held up nicely to the rest of the gooey stuff on the plate.
Between the well-queso'd beans and the well-scrambled eggs and the whole half of an avocado, these breakfast nachos were very satisfying. I also ordered side of the crispy potatoes. They were good. Nothing mind blowing, but they did the job I wanted them to.
I also got the chance to taste their giant French toast, which was absolutely fine. For how big and fluffy the pieces of bread were, they needed moisture, and while there was syrup available, I really would have preferred more of the strawberry variety they drizzled on the plate.
Overall, I was not disappointed. If you end up coming here, you will also not be disappointed. Especially if you're going to Sea World right afterwards. It was so close. Such a short drive.

I had the crispy wings the first time. One wing was not completely cooked. I let the manager David know and he was so kind to give me another order that was cooked perfectly. I appreciate his kindness. I also had the shrimp pasta and it was very good. Excellent wine selections. Enjoyed the beach, the sand and the water. My stay at the Bahia Resort was really nice

Amazing place. We'll worth the stay. From the front staff to waitresses just wonderful. It is pricy, but we'll worth it. Pictured is the sea bass and shrimp.

This is nice restaurant located on the resort property with an adjoining stylish bar. It features both indoor and outdoor seating with fire pits and fire places to add to the ambulance. The food is standard southern California fare.

Lovely place. Lovely food. And our server Jean was the best. She was really sweet and made our dining experience very unique and cozy. I would visit this place again just for the service.

We had a great time at this resort. We could have walked to Mission beach, but with little kids it was easier to drive for 2 minutes. Very friendly staff, good breakfast at Cafe Bahia, kids liked the rescue seals, nice private beach area on the bay with cabanas/chairs, grounds were really nice AND free parking! Which was a big factor for us since everywhere else in San Diego charges. The only 2 things I have to complain about is the rooms could use a tiny update, but even then they were still nice (huge tv) and some less expensive food options would be great. Wow the list of good is long! We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for the night. Best hotel room I’ve ever stayed in! On top of that the breakfast here was amazing. I definitely recommend the stuffed French toast. Wasn’t too sweet, it was perfect.

We came for San Diego Restaurant Week, so we had a somewhat unique dining experience. We ate outside in the evening, so it was a bit cold, but both of us were seated directly under heaters so we were very comfortable. Kona, our server, was amazing! Even though we were a bit out of the way compared with the rest of her tables, she made sure to check in on us and provide exceptional customer service. The clam chowder was excellent, as was the Mediterranean salmon and the beef short rib. For dessert, we had the creme brule, which was also amazing. Right next to the outdoor dining area, there is an enclosure with two rescued seals - be sure to stop by and check them out and say hello. Overall this was a great experience, and we will definitely be returning!
