I really liked the food plus the sauce they used was out of this world but I never experienced of italian restaurant that we had to pay the food, wine and dessert first, then they'll sit you to eat. all was good. I thought the restaurant was a bit small compare to other Italian restaurant, parking was hard too.
Dinner was great. Salad was fresh, chicken piccata was awesome. Service was on point. The young lady that was our waitress was friendly and attentive. Can't wait to return for another meal. So glad I wandered past some of the really fancy and expensive Italian place and decided on this family owned restaurant. Best decision ever.
Excellent food! But more, excellent service by our waiter. Wished I remembered his name but I believe he was the only blond waiter on the floor. He's an excellent asset to your restaurant!!! We will be back. Hope he'll be there then!
There's a reason there is always a line - good thing they have a crack team at churning out those lovely subs at a high rate!
Plus - great Italian grocery and amazing authentic wine selection.
I have been going to Mona Lisa for 40 yrs and this is by far the best place ever, nothing compares to the excellent service they give and also the great food, the environment is amazing people laughing talking families getting together or just people having a nice dinner, we come here about 2 to 3 times a month and yes also for just about every birthday, dinner is celebrated here, I love there spaghetti and I love there pizza no doubt you will have no regrets!
We've been going to Mona Lisa for years, since I was little, and every time the food had been amazing! Their spaghetti with meat sauce is incredible! My mom and I came here Thursday, and, as always the meal was delicious! We each had spaghetti with meat sauce, salad and garlic bread. My only complaint is that we asked for the pasta to be well-drained (minimizes the water on the plate to water down the sauce) and it clearly was not. Regardless, it was delicious!
We were pleasantly surprised with Mona Lisa's! We were wandering around, looking for a place to eat and everything was too expensive for lunch. Mona Lisa was inexpensive and the food was excellent!
Absolutely delicious food served by incredibly friendly staff. By far our favourite restaurant we have experienced in San Diego
In heaven. Fast service, excellent food! Reminds me of my childhood. Plan on being a regular!!!
We enjoyed the cheese ravioli! Traveled from Oklahoma, was happy to find a great local Italian place!
To be fair, I'm severely biased. I have no cognitive memory where this place hasn't existed in my life. My family has been coming here since before I was born. This pizza is my favorite, it's good any time of the day! The pasta is solid, good Italian/American comfort food. The sandwiches in the deli are absolutely perfect! Ask for extra Italian dressing.
Randomly stopped by as we were driving by, trying to decide what to have for lunch. We walked in and we were a little confused about where to go until someone called us over. it was lunch time on a Monday, and they had hot food displayed and were serving cafeteria style. The full menu was available to chose from as well but what really catches your eyes are the delicious hot foods in front of you. We ended up ordering from the menu and tried:
- pastrami sandwich 10/10
- pepperoni sausage pizza
- cheesy garlic bread
- half order of spaghetti
Everything was brought out quickly and very hot and fresh. The cheesy garlic bread, sandwich and pizza was really good and I would definitely order it again.
This is a restaurant I was lucky enough to find during my trip to San Diego. It tasted different from what I was used to at regular Italian restaurants, and tasted like eating at an Italian home. It was a precious restaurant I found on the first day of my trip. If I go to San Diego again, this is a restaurant I definitely want to go back to.
Always a great dinner stop! The gulf shrimp were delicious! The veal was tasty and filling. The service started slow but got better real fast! Love the attached shop with all the Italian goods you could imagine! Parking right in front, didn't wait long for someone to leave.
After a morning of walking we found this spot in little italy. The pizza is so fresh with its toppings and the crust is legit . Family fun with Chianti and beer . We finished the meal off with tiramisu , spamoni and cheesecake…. We ordered more than our stomachs could handle but loved it .
Thank you to all the staff there . They were on it from start to espresso !
Not a fancy place. BUT if you want the old-fashioned real American Italian food experience, this is the place. The red sauce isn't just tomato sauce, it is a pomodoro sauce. The marinara is full of flavor. The meat sauce is a little skimpy on meat but you can sure taste that it is there. The deli meat and cheese platter was plentiful.
After dropping a friend off at the airport thought I would check out the grocery / deli at Mona's. Always interesting and unusual culinary delights. The restaurant is great as well. Nice but nothing fancy, just good, honest Italian food.
I came over here for lunch, the lady was rude and I felt rushed and I hate feeling rush when I’m trying to read the menu on what I want. Anyways, the food is ok. The lasagna taste like a can of chef Boyardee, not that it’s bad. The salad was fresh. The Italian sausage was alright.
Lunch was great. We had the light lunch combo. I had the 1/2 lasagna with a salad. My son had a caprese sandwich with a salad. We enjoyed both. Looking forward to our next visit.
The market has a small urban feel to it, like any typical Italian market in a city. Tight quarters especially near lunchtime. The deli counter is very popular.
A decent variety of Italian products, in small quantities, but at least it has things to choose from.
In the San Diego area, this seems to be the best option.
I love this place. The lasagna is one of the best I've had in a while. Service is great.
