We felt going to this place is a must in San Diego given the reviews. Food was simple and good, not extraordinary. Tortilla was really good. I wish they had more options for vegetarians and also more salsas to add flavor to the food.

A rustic but wonderful old little place, apparently loved by many, as evidenced by the long lines! Cash only. They make their own tortillas, and you can watch the process while sitting down and eating! The building could use some renovations but that may take away from the feel of the place. I felt like I was in a small town in Mexico!

We try to go here every time we come to visit San Diego. Most genuine Mexican food in what many people would call a hole in the wall. They have been in business for 90 years. First time that I came here in 1968 just before I was being discharged from the Navy. Remaind a frequent customer since then . Always a line and a good reason why.

For people who haven’t tried authentic Mexican food this is the place to go. The menus simple but everything’s delicious. Try the rice and beans with chorizo and hand made tortillas . Just come early and you won’t have to deal with the line. By 9:30 there’s already a line.

This is one of the top places in San Diego for Mexican food. Very authentic! They have the best floor tortillas. Just plan on buying a dozen to take home. It is a really hard choice whether to eat the rolled tacos or the chicken tacos. We plan on going anytime we are in the area.

Aight listen the wait is terrible. I don’t know why people put up with this. Yeah, normally 1.5 hours is bad but what makes it hurt extra is that there are always empty seats inside. it’s just a scaling issue at the counter. I don’t get why they keep volume low like that 😩 But it’s their business, not mine so I digress. Obviously the food is fantastic. 5/5. It’s made with love. I would come here every day if I could. But I literally am unable to. So I just have a complicated relationship with this fantastic restaurant. But I recommend trying it at least once and get one of everything when you do.

Amazing food, great prices, line wasn’t too long around 9/10am, as a San Diego native I’m so glad to have finally tried this restaurant. we got the beef tacos, beans and rice and tamale (add cilantro and onion and lime 😋), chicken burrito that had potatoes and cheese so yummy! Dozen tortillas to take home amazing! 10/10 would recommend!

I’ll summarize this one with a simple quote: “In life there many places, but few places can be a home”, this was one of those places that felt like a home. From the warm ladies at the front serving the regulars and the tourists with a smile and helpfully telling you were the nearest ATM is(down the street). To the tortillas being produced in the back, the simple set up, the family style communal eating. The people who come in also tell that story, you can’t help but want to interact or at least people watch with those enjoying the meal with you. As for the food: I had the chicken taco, tamale and beans with rice, the rolled chicken tacos and of course the hand made tortillas. The flour tortillas are soooo good, it’s addiction in flour form, and I would just go back to buy a 100ct of them. I will be back for more, but this is an institution, make the trip down, it’s almost required if you are an San Diego food adventure❤️
