If you want a nice harbor view dinner in San Diego, this is it. This was a "client" dinner, so yeah, company picked up the tab. I didn't have the Lobster, but those with me did, and they were huge! I had the Alaskan Halibut, made with miso (i guess that's the trend) yum!!! Right next to the USS Midway, so that's cool too. Walking distance to the Gas Lamp district and San Diego Convention center.
Great experience! We had the halibut and swordfish and it was delicious! Great view during sunset as well! Our server did an excellent job, very nice and communicated the small delay w our food. Highly recommend!
Excellent restaurant with a classic and old fashioned style. This is such a sweet place. The waiter was very friendly and nice. We ordered their famous crab chiopino and kid’s menu. All delicious.
Had a great experience dinning in. Went on a Saturday at 7 and was told all the tables were booked and I would have to sit at the bar. I thought it might worsen the experience, but I had a great time. Yvonne the bartender was very welcoming and helpful.
The food was great. Got the Tuna crudo, the halibut and the almond cake. All of them top notch with complex flavors and perfectly prepared.
Wine list is also very complete.
Recommended for sure.
This is one of our favorite fine dining experiences. The food was so flavorful and absolutely delicious. Everything we tried impressed us. There was no weak link. We had an appetizer but i came remember what it was. So I know is it was good! My husband had the octopus. It wasn't an entrée option but they indulged and created a plate for him. I had the salmon. We finished dinner of with a dessert platter. The view was gorgeous. It's a nice location on top of a market situated right on the bay. The huge windows just added to the feel as we ate and watched the sun set. The drinks were a little strong for my taste but I know that's a plus for others.
I just washed the dishes. The food is excellent the atmosphere very pleasant and the service is as good as it gets. The place is kept spotless as well. Be prepared to pay for it however. Everything is made from scratch everyday plus the seafood is fresh everyday. Nothing is frozen or comes out of a box. Excellent view if you choose to dine on the outside deck.
Lovely spot with a great heated outdoor area with views of the bay and the USS Midway. Jonas was a fantastic server who made the experience enjoyable! All of the food and cocktails we had were delicious! The sticky toffee pudding, scallops, and oysters were particularly great.
Watched the parade of lights here in December. It was such a great spot for it. This restaurant probably has the best view in downtown area with plenty of window seating and an outdoor patio. We had the 3 course meal and the food was good. The server was either inexperienced or was just really busy. The ambience was amazing. It definitely feels a bit touristy but it's still a great experience. Parking is horrible though just like place in that area.
Had to pleasure of eating last night at Top of the Market, there was three of us, we was seated right away with a great view of bay, right across from two aircraft carriers in bay!
Two of us had shrimp cocktail n I had clam chowder! All was excellent, main courses was one halibut, one scallops and one Oregon crab broth.
Excellent meal and service!
Will come back!
Spectacular! Very busy but with no reservations, a party of 6, we waited about 30 minutes. Not bad at all. The clam chowder was on point. The server brought us hot water bc it was definitely chilly. We had the shrimp linguini, sea bass, and fish and chips. All excellent!
Always great to get out of town and enjoy one of our favorite places in San Diego. We had not been there since March and we walked up to the bar to wait for our reservation. The bartender immediately recognized me and the way I liked my martini and made it. Of all the people he serves, somehow I stood out enough for him to remember my order. That customer service is top notch. Also thanks to Hurrican Hilary the summer was breath taking during our dinner.
Just after sunset bay view on the patio, French rosé, well made halibut and cioppino! What else do you need :). Liked the zucchini on top of the halibut. Waiter was attentive and music and atmosphere was very relaxing. Topped it off with chocolate pot de creme and almond cake with gelato. Very nice experience.
I really wanted to give a 5-star review because my previous experiences were excellent; however, yesterday’s lunch was just good. The clams were excellent and my garlic shrimp were perfectly cooked and was terrifically seasoned. That said my linguine pasta was stracotto (over cooked) and the server mistakenly brought out steamed clams instead of mussels- but offered to remedy the situation.
We visited for a 60th birthday dinner, but ended up ordering several appetizers from the Happy Hour menu and it filled us up. Everything was DIVINE; the food was delicious and beautifully presented, the view spectacular, and the service was impeccable. THANK YOU so much for creating the perfect evening for our special occasion.
We got the place booked for my birthday lunch ! I do not have enough words to praise them. Like most people our main reason to book them was obviously the view which is phenomenal . We picked the outdoor seating which is absolutely breathtaking . You are literally on top of the sea , the best time is to book an hour before the sunset and you will have the best views while you enjoy your meal .
Now for the main part , everything from the basic bread basket to the food and dessert was beyond amazing ! We ordered the sea bass and the fried snapper , great portions , just felt the snapper was a bit too bland for our taste but not bad however sea bass was definitely a 10/10 , hard to find seafood with so much flavor and it really surpassed all my expectations.
Now onto the customer service . Extremely friendly and professional servers , they really know their job. Explained ya every dish in detail , were also very particular about not having alcohol on our food which the server made sure to ask the chef and confirm for us , we really appreciate the gesture , not only that if there was anything which did have alcohol he gladly gave us options to remove that particular sauce or item.
Overall we were very happy with the experience , their delicious s'mores dessert was the perfect way to end our lunch.
Came here tonight with my husband. The hostess who greeted us was super nice, which was a good start. We had the beets and heirloom tomatoes and prawns cocktail for appetizer. The prawns were so big and juicy. Loved them. The service was good the whole night. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, which is appreciated. For entrees, I had the Alaskan halibut and my husband had the swordfish. Both were good, but not “knock my socks off great.” Dessert was pretty, and yummy. Overall, the place is very good, but it wasn’t the most memorable dinner I’ve had.
One note: if you’re looking for a quiet place to take your date, this probably isn’t the place. The ambiance can get pretty loud, especially near the kitchen area.
We had a great dinner here while on vacation. Outside seating facing the Uss Midway was lovely, atmosphere and service was fantastic. Food was delicious. This restaurant breaks the inverse relationship between food portions and price that we're used to. Highly recommended.
