Smokey Mo's Bbq

Ordered two, 2 meat plates— one with turkey, brisket, Mac & cheese, and coleslaw. The other chicken, pork ribs, green beans, and Mac & cheese. It was enough food to feed 2 adults and 2 children (age 3.5), and it tastes good. Meats were moist. Good neighborhood establishment. Clean inside. I’ll go back again. Note: I have celiac disease and was able to get the Mac and cheese in a separate bowl for my kids to avoid gluten touching the meat. Meats, sauce, and Cole slaw are gluten free. I was able to eat here and not get sick.

The atmosphere was great, love the aroma of a BBQ restaurant, the service was just below 5* come to find out the girl that waited on us was just about to end her shift. The food though, and I LOVE BBQ, was a not just a little greasy, it was super greasy. The smoke flavor was near non-existent in my opinion, the sauce was mild and watery... I don't live in San Antonio anyway so I can honestly say I will most likely not be back...

Ordered online the small family pack for take out and it was just being packaged as I arrived. Nice and quick service. My spouse and I were hankering for some brisket and we were pleased with Smokey Mo's brisket and the other fixings. First time we ever ate Smokey Mo's the tater salad was reminiscent of my mom's recipe. Since then, the recipe appears to have been sweetened up some, but still delish! (I miss momma's potato salad.) The green beans were so good. We will definitely be back for more delicious brisket and other yummy sides!

I had the two meat plate with two sides. I ordered brisket and sausage along with potato salad and green beans. I'm only giving them four stars because they could definitely improve on their brisket and sausage. The brisket was small thin slices as well was the sausage. Neither was very juicy and neither was smoked long enough. The potato salad was okay but, I mean, that's not going to give them high marks. The green beans were obviously out of a can. Now don't get me wrong, I will probably go back to this place mainly because it's the closest barbecue joint to my house. One thing I would like to try is their breakfasts. They have advertised breakfast tacos and breakfast bowls so I will probably add to this review once I try those.
