Review Camila's Mexican Restaurant - San Antonio

Immortal Senpai (Andrew)
This place is ok, they have good breakfast tacos, and ok menudo. We were not impressed with the migas plate it was texmex, and it was just cheese on top of eggs with nacho chips, which was weird. Our table was never cleaned, so I cleaned it myself. And the waitress was bothered that we didn't speak Spanish to her. That is one of my restaurant pet peves tbh. Like I said, if you want some quock food with ok taste or some breakfast tacos, this place will be acceptable. Most likely, won't come again, though. Also the mimosas were not mixed properly. 😬

Food and service was good. The restaurant is a little tight and so is the parking. Not suitable for large groups. A little pricey also, but worth a visit with your best friend in a small car.

I really like this restaurant. As probably all Mexican restaurants it's simple. The food is really cheap, but very good. They cook tortillas and chips by theirselves and salsa too I suppose. Their red salsa is incredibly good! They have got some updates recently and now they have some alcohol in the menu. We often get tacos from this place by drive-thru or we dine in, and it feels like when you eat inside the food tastes better☺️And yes, the service is very hearty ❤️

Our go to is the barbacoa family meal. You get a pound of the slow cooked meat plus sides of diced onion and cilantro, fried potatoes and refried beans. With an added side of scrambled cheesy eggs, pico de gallo and extra tortillas it's the perfect breakfast spread for our family of three. Sometimes we add pancakes and they're yummy, too. We've done lunch and dinner here as well and the fajitas and enchiladas are good but breakfast is where this place shines. It's a small spot and always busy but we usually don't wait long for a table, or we can get takeout pretty quickly instead. Never a bad experience in the last few years so we keep coming back!

Our first visit to Camila's Mexican Restaurant. The menu has a great variety of items, which made if hard to decide what to order. Everything sounds and looks soooo gooood. What I like is that everything on the menu is served for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. We guess we need to return very soon. Today, we had the Machacado with eggs, refried beans, potatoes plate and Chilaquiles with eggs, refried beans, potatoes plate with flour tortillas. The servings were humongous and very good. The restaurant was very clean and our waitress was great. Definitely will return very soon.

I stopped in for my usual load of breakfast tacos and Camila's didn't let me down. These little pockets of joy are always overloaded with filling and their salsas are good add-ons.

Very delicious torta. You can choose which meat to put inside and I chose Al Pastor. Ordered fries on the side. A perfect lunch.

The whole family loves it!!! Visiting from Houston and we now have our spot when we are in town. Fast and kind service and great food! Everything we order tasted great! We all had to try eachothers order. We got the enchiladas, fajitas, chorizo con papas. Definitely would recommend to everyone.

What is with this place.. 3 times we have pulled up to order for take out. We have sat there and waited 10-15 min each time and never been acknowledged. Would not recommend.

A solid Mexican food joint that I visit every week! Great for breakfast and lunch, very quick service, and with a drive-up order lane for when you're in a hurry. Haven't been there for dinner yet, but I recommend going anytime.

Will not be going back. Just purchased beans, only beans mind you and they charged $12. They can keep it. Prices keep going up and they will run themselves out of business... can't wait! I won't be back.

Beware: Addictive salsa and chips! Food served fast and hot and stayed hot. Delicious enchiladas and tacos. First time visiting but will be back! Regret not getting some salsa to go. P.S. This is not a chain restaurant thus no over-hyped atmosphere. Check it out if you want great Mexican food served hot and fast.

Three of us decided to visit this wee place off the busy Henderson Pass/Thousand Oaks intersection after Church. We had heard good things about it and found it with no problem. It's an old storefront, very clean inside with about 20 tables and waitstaff bustling everywhere. The sign said "Please Seat Yourself" so we found one unoccupied table and sat down. A minute or so passed and we were given menus and gave the smiling lady our drink orders.

For a tiny place the menu is extensive with breakfast items, tacos, combo plates, nachos, menudo, barbacoa and other favorites. We ordered a ham and cheese omelette, migas with chorizo and a Mexican omelette with pico de gallo and cheese. All plates for breakfast are served with refried beans, fried potatoes and piping hot homemade tortillas.

The food is simple, seasoned well and served fresh with generous portions. The migas were terrific with crispy tortilla chips, eggs, cheese and a nice spicy chorizo. The omelettes were both huge and very filling, filled with lots of ham and cheese; the refried beans creamy and the potatoes ordinary but okay. Flour tortillas were puffy and delicious.

Service is friendly and bilingual; prices are reasonable and the casual atmosphere reminds us of many such cafes in Mexico run by local families. Total for three breakfast plates, three coffees and one soda was $29.54 before tip. Que rico!

Good little eating hole. Breakfast is allways good , service is great, at lunch time you can expect to have a little wait since they tend to get filled up quite fast, other then not that great parking, I give it a 7 out of 10 on food , 10 out of 10 on service and 2 out of 10 on parking

Camila's doesn't care about customers. Aside from the food being just ok. The staff handled a situation very unprofessionally and was very rude. The only reason I didn't persue the issue is because I was the only person there acting like an adult. We only went to the restaurant out of convineince but now we will convineintly take our buisness elsewhere. We being the 50+ regular customers you had.

Dried out old meat. If you want food that you can actually eat...go elsewhere! This place once had good fresh tasting food, now they give you dried out day old beef particles and try to pass it off as a beef fajita taco!! Don't waste your time....horrible food!

Horrible service. Phoned in order at 7:25 am and when I got there at 735 to the drive thru, after 6 minutes I had to walk in because no one came out. still wasn't ready. Waited 15 more minutes and still nothing. All I ordered were 6 bean tacos :/ ended up walking out because school was about to start. My kids had NO breakfast

Worst quality I have ever eaten. Pooling grease and fake cheese. Went for lunch. Never have had urban spoon mislead us on a recommendation but this is a clear miss. Taco Cabana has better quality and that's being nice. Taco meat is pure grease and that's all you taste. Hard to soak a crispy taco shell all the way through to break. This is how greasy it was. Pass on this placd

Good Solid N. Side Mexican. I have been here now a few different times for breakfast, during the week and on the weekends. Love the drive thru and the food. Thick tortillas are excellent. Great breakfast. Wish they were open more days for dinner. Only thing thats hit or miss is the service, can be slow sometimes, but always friendly and they always thank us for coming. Great choice for mexican food on the north side.

Something good on this side of town!. Went at 8am this morning and was amazed at there serves right off. Most Mex places have most of everything from the menu ready by opening but they dont work that way BUT when i asked for the ench plate they were MORE than happy to make it for me. Then when I asked for a lemonaid she siad sure and made it fresh not like lots of other places that give you the "its not ready, sorry" speech. So that made me happy, I came first and they were not lazy.
When I got home with the plate and breakfast tacos for my husband I was very satified. The tortillas were fresh and the amount of potato n egg in the tacos were awesome!!...
I plan on going back and making this place my neighborhood Mex spot... it beats going across town and I get the same good stuff (not fastfood) :)

BEST EMPANADAS EVER.. SERIOUSLY.
No really, if you come here (for lunch) choose to do the buffet, then do yourself a favour & pick up an empanada! I am in love with this place for sure :)

Sorry but missed on all levels for us. Reheated tortillas and down from there. In all fairness we had dinner there and most reviews rave about breakfast.

Weekend Breakfast. This Tex-Mex breakfast buffet was pretty good & you can tell the owner & staff are making sure you enjoy your dining experience. They offer all the right things you want on a weekend buffet-bacon, sausages, potato 'n egg, pork rancheros, they have fresh corn & flour torts, pancakes & eggs to order. Oh my! Even menudo-a weekend staple. Plus when we didn't see any barbacoa they brought me a taco. It was pretty good too. They do offer a dessert table w some sopapillas, cakes 'n cookies but I wish they would just buy some Mexican pan dulce from a local panderia. Buffets are'nt my favorite way to dine but I did enjoy this breakfast buffet because it wasn't crowded, the food was fresh & as warm as it could be on a buffet steam table & service was great.

New in the neighborhood thought we'd give it a try. Very good, fresh & tasty. I had the mini taco plate w/boracho beans. Mr had the pork chop plate. Both plates were good with just right portions. Service was very good & attentive. We'll go again.

Restaurant. Great place to eat at a really good price!

Delicious!. I love having a homemade breakfast, it's hard to find the perfect combination of fresh tortillas and great pancakes, this place makes great everything, Breakfast buffet is the best in town eggs to your order and menudo to your surprise. Fresh coffee fantastic service and a pleasing taste to the pallet.

This place is AMAZING! Restaurant was really clean and the service was great! My husband and I are very picky when it comes to eating out, and this place definitely impressed us both! I highly recommend it:)

Good food.. Second visit to Camila's. Went during the lunch hour and found lots of ppl there partaking of their buffet. We on the other hand ordered off the menu. I tried a lighter lunch w/ enchilada, chalupa, and puffy taco. It was very good. My mother had the carne guisada and also enjoyed her plate. That experience was good athough they appeared overwhelmed and service was a bit slow and dysfunctional. The entry sign said seat yourself but it seems ball was dropped a bit on who is watching the store. So I think they need work on that. Other than that our experience was good.

NewCustomer4Ever. We decided to try the new restaurant for dinner and came back for their breakfast buffet. We were both so impressed with the freshly handmade tortillas they brought to our table when ever we asked and the food was great. Miss the old place but this restaurant makes up for that. New owners are going places with their restaurant/buffet set up.
