I really liked Künstler! Beautiful building, nicely decorated with tremendous beer and a nice German-inspired menu. Reasonable prices for all items. The parking was scarce but this was due to the odd location on a residential street but in a way it added to the charm; like finding a hidden treasure! Please go and find it yourself!
Beautiful place, great beer and chill atmosphere! If I was a resident of San Antonio, this would be my go to spot, no doubt!
I love the ambience of this brewery, the bar tenders are good at explaining their menu and quickly got us flights to try all their in house brewed beers. The flights are in cute little glasses and a rustic looking wood box. If you go I highly suggest trying their Hawaiian Fog and Ghost tracks. I was able to meet Vera their brewmaster and got a little tour. They also have a good mixed variety so there is every style to try for everyone who likes one styled beer. Definitely coming back again, as they also have a mug club memebership! 🙌🏾
Great beer, clean, fresh, and wonderful owners. There is a nice indoor area for food and brews, plus a patio and garage area with televisions that is well behaved pets friendly. The beer menu is bountiful and changes, so go more than once to try different brews.
This place is fantastic, the beer is amazing and the kraut salad is a must! Great to see this type of place in San Antonio.
Great, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Place is spacious and very welcoming. Pretzels is a must have. Their charcuterie amazing. Can’t pass up on their IPA.
Great place to relax and have some great beer!! Oh their Preztel is the best in San Antonio
Delicious! That bratwurst was the best meal I’ve had in awhile. No wheat beer option but JoJo’s was a really good alternative. Also really enjoyed the Edelweiss and Booberry. Service was friendly and helpful. Will go back!
Vera and Brent do an amazing job and have gone out of their way to help us find a place to watch Bayern Munich. The beer and service are excellent and the facility itself is wonderfully done.
Kunstler is exactly what San Antonio needed: a great local brewery with a relaxed atmosphere, good food and fun place to hang with family & friends. Today was my first visit but I will be back. Prost🍺
Great place in a very unique area. Beers are top notch and great friendly staff. Get you some!
Very awesome atmopshere here , great brews ,i had the ghost tracks, boobberry, mesa ,illegal red all very good tasting brews , my wife and daughter had a like a brownie of some sort with marshmellow on top ,and that was good...overall a great place to to chill and jus hang on weekend ,great job guys at kunstler
Great neighborhood brewery. Solid craft beers on tap and nice open seating. Great place for a quick drink or to hang out at for a few hours.
San Antonio and craft beer lovers. This place is a must see. Great tasting beer. Recommend the Hawaiian Fog or the Ghost Tracks. Definitely be back.
Nice, busy spot.
I didn’t stay here long. It was my first walking stop out of three for the night to get a few passport stamps. I got a Duck Lips pale ale which was good. The place was busy and the kitchen looked busy too.
Staff was friendly and service was quick. Lots of outdoor seating. Would be a good place to watch sports.
A perfect beer hall with delicious beers, awesome German food favorites, and a great atmosphere all served up by very friendly people. You've definitely got to make this a stop when you come to San Antonio.
Food and beer were both absolutely amazing. Great service and a wonderful atmosphere. I would gladly recommend this to anyone.
Künstler Brewing is an awesome little beer hall with lots of good beer and absolutely delicious food! Totally recommend the spaetzle mac and cheese! We were licking the bowl clean 🤤
Kunstler brewing is the best brewery in town. Hands down. Are there other breweries that I love; well hell yeah. Kunstler is all around. Best food, easiest parking, great beers, AMAZING service and really cool outdoor seating. They rotate their beers well and keep the good’ns. Do not wait, go now.
Really great beers and food and the veg options were greatly appreciated. I will say, the only downside was that we hadn't had so much as a glass of water dropped off after sitting for 15 minutes. I ended up having to go to the bar to ask for a waiter. Things were smooth sailing after that, though! The only other thing I will mention is that I noticed an odd trend of the owner gaslighting negative reviews on here, like suggesting people (who clearly have photos of the restaurant in their review) visited a different restaurant. It was really off-putting and I hope they find someone more professional to handle their online presence.
A bit of a hidden gem. Tucked away in a humble community. This place is well worth the search and drive if you are staying downtown.
Family friendly. The staff are incredible and accommodating. The food is excellent to say the least. My son said the Sausage and Bacon Potato soup is the best soup he has ever eaten. And he would know, he used to eat soup exclusively for breakfast and lunch! He loved it so much he begged to order a second bowl and then wished we would let him order a growler to go.
The beer was great too. If you are from San Antonio and like beer or food you’d be crazy not to become a regular. If you are visiting I would put this on your must go list.
Excellent spot nestled away in a more residential street. Branding, ambience, food, and drinks are all on point. Seating is available indoors and outdoors. Dog-friendly, vegan-friendly, and delicious!
My only negatives would be that the price points are bit a higher than your average brewery and the residential street has eyesores like trashed furniture. Other than that, it really is a nice and pleasant environment inside. Oh, and did I mention it was nearly packed on a Monday afternoon!
I would definitely return to bring visitors from out of town.
Excellent beers. I’ll have to come back outside of brunch hours to try more than just the German potato pancakes with house made apple sauce and caper cream cheese that were delicious. Also had a brat with mustard and sourdough toast with a generous amount of butter. Zero complaints.
UPDATE: Haven't been here in a couple years..life...but stopped by when I was downtown. Beer is still the draw (very Czech, almost ethnic), but they've upped their game on food! Still love the off-street, neighborhood vibe.
Great little microbrewery. Wide selection of interesting beers with true German influence. Nicely air conditioned tap room, but we had our dog with us so we sat in the game room where there was 3 TV's, a water bowl for Margo, and plenty of fans. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the crowd a bit yuppie.
Wow!! Such a fabulous brewery. Künstler means artist and this brewery lives up to it's name. Everything from the brews, food, decor and merchandise is so beautifully and artistically curated. A great fusion of Texas and German cultures. Also fun to see the painting by my friend and local artist Abraham Mojica hanging above the bar.
German beer and food!
Small hidden bar with an amazing selection of German brews and food. Resembling a German beer hall, with personalized steins hanging from the wall, you will feel like your transported to Munich. The schnitzel was probably the best schnitzel I've ever had outside of Germany. They have outdoor (dog friendly) covered-patio seating, indoor seating and bar. Plus they have a "party" room, available for rent, with TV and dart machine.
Came here for a casual dinner on a Saturday night. It was about 75% full, but there were a few tables in the back dining area. Waiter was very prompt with water and taking any initial orders. While debating over the main meal, ordered the Kunstler Pimento and Fried Brussel Sprouts. They came out within 10 minutes and both were good. I was unsure about the the Pimento spread served with Fritos and Saltines, but they actually went well with the cheese spread. Brussel Sprouts were very good as they had a nice char to them and were topped with bacon, nuts and an aioli sauce.
For the meals, ordered the Warm Pastrami sandwich, Fried Bologna sandwich, the Schweinbraten sandwich. I'll admit, I was extremely skeptical on ordering a bologna sandwich at a restaurant as could only remember how they tasted as a kid. However, I couldn't have been more wrong. This bologna sandwich was amazing. The bologna was very good quality and the honey mustard, lettuce, and pickles went well with it. The other sandwiches were also good as had generous amount of good quality meat with complementary toppings.
Overall, good food and service. I'd recommend the Fried Bologna sandwich, but everything was good.
Came for the beers....not disappointed. Loretta was exceptional. She knew her beers. She described the Cashmere as a beer that was cozy, one that you could cuddle up and watch a movie with. She was right! I wanna go back soon!
Highly recommend checking this place out, great atmosphere and nice selection of beers. We got a pretzel with spicy mustard and pimento cheese which was delicious! Definitely will be back!
Did a little research about San Antonio before my trip here and this place kept coming up.
Holy SH!T this place rocked. Lived up to the hype and then some. The beer is incredible and the Tuesday Night burger night could be DOUBLE the price they are offering it at and I’d still come back.
If I lived in San Antonio I’d try every night’s special.
The Smoked Wolfie had great drink-ability and delicious flavor. I also LOVED the Puro Southtown, I would KILL for this to be the base of a Michelada.
If you live in San Antonio and haven’t been here, what are you doing? If you’re visiting, make this your first stop.
This is another brewery that I'd have no idea existed if one of my friends hadn't been here already. It took us a minute to actually arrive, because about a quarter of a mile up the road, Google started acting all crazy with the instructions. Although there was a parking lot and a row in front of the door, you can almost forget about parking close by when you do arrive. I believe we had to park over a hundred yards up the street. Don't get discouraged, though; it's worth it for some good craft brews. The place was packed and I'm very surprised we even got a table - the last one in the entire place. It may have had something to do with the Christmas in July event going on. Staff was friendly, and allowed us to sample some drinks before making a choice. There was a larger menu, but we were told to use the print-out since it better reflected what was stocked. I enjoyed what we ordered, but some drinks were better than others. We were given a food menu, and meant to eat, but I don't even recall looking at it. Lots of merch for sale, including the usual barstuffs - shirts, glassware and growlers. While the place seems dog-friendly (water bowl outside, animal raffle for a local shelter going on inside), I don't recall seeing any dogs. Reasonably priced; we probably had 5-6 drinks on the tab, but it didn't feel like it. While it's a bit more cramped than some other places, it was quite cozy, and I'm sure we'll be back again.
