I had the pleasure of dining at Bayseas Catfish House located on O'Connor Road, and it becomes clear why this eatery is often buzzing with energy. The southern charm of this restaurant is appealing right off the bat. The rustic decor pays homage to traditional catfish houses in the South, and there's a comfort and familiarity in the atmosphere that's welcoming, warm, and unpretentious. Now onto the serious matter: the food. Bayseas Catfish House serves up Southern cuisine at its best. The catfish, undoubtedly their star attraction, was cooked to perfection. It was crispy on the outside, soft and succulent on the inside. The seasoning was spot-on, capturing the essence of southern flavors without overpowering the natural taste of the catfish. The sides and appetizers were no less enjoyable. Soul Food Kitchen cmon.! You have to love the hard chairs and sparse tabletops in the dining area.. past that. It's a genuine pleasure to eat there. You always get more pieces than you pay for. The Cole slaw is delicious homemade. The breading on the fish is crispy but melts in your mouth. Still $4 for a slice of any cake or pie. Try the meatloaf or baked chicken with dressing for a change up. Go..just go.

Such an inviting experience while eating here. The food is fantastic and the friendliness of the staff makes it even more inviting. We will definitely be here again.

Plenty of parking. Clean and welcome environment. The waiters are so friendly and customer service oriented. I need to recognize two ladies. The African American lady is so great, so helpful and professional . The other person us the lady that clean the tables. She was so happy to work there, so friendly. The trout there is 5 stars. Is so fresh and tasty. Great fries. Good portions. Clean restrooms. I think prices are very good. The best fried pickles.

The Great Customer service and food at this location left us speechless... The Bayseas here on Nacodoges Rd is sooo much better than the Bayseas off of FM78. It all started with the customer service. My wife and I were greeted promptly upon entrance and they allowed us to pick our own table. Both waitresses were very respectful, polite and extremely competent with their jobs. We ordered the Catfish and shrimp Combo, the Tilapia and shrimp Combo, Small bowl of Gumbo, meatloaf and two boudin sausages.The fish and shrimp combos came with fries, mine came with hush puppies and coleslaw. The meatloaf with brown gravy and small gumbo arrived first and served as our appetizers. Only took about 8 minutes from order till both were on our table. The flavors of each left us blown away. The gumbo was packed with shredded chicken, sausage and shrimp. Also had okra, and the flavor was robust and hearty, while packing a nice, subtle, spicy burn that was left over after each bite. The meatloaf and gravy was delicious. Had diced onions, and celery in it and the consistency of it was perfect. We tried slowing ourselves from eating too fast and too much because we wanted to wait on our main dishes but it was not an easy task. The main courses of our fried Fish and boudin sausages arrived about 15 minutes after our gumbo and meatloaf, which seemed to be perfect timing for us. Each plate was piping hot and we were impressed with both the large serving size on our plates and how consistent everything was in their temperatures and deliciousness. The fish was cooked to perfection so crispy, flakey, and buttery, we couldn't help buy stare at eachother in silence and disbelief as we chewed each bite. The hush puppies were crisp on the outside, but so soft and flavorful on the inside. The shrimp and fries matched the perfection of our fish and hush puppies and we couldn't stop eating. The Boudin sausages were so good we ate both of them. When all was said and done we each had 2 pieces of left over fish and fries we couldn't finish so we took them home to the kids. We have pictures of our food on our Facebook page. We'd like to thank the staff here and we highly recommend this Restaurant to anyone who loves fried fish and great service. This was the best fried fish we've had. One of the very best restaurants we've visited and reviewed together! This review is also posted on Google reviews! This place hit the spot for me. I wanted some fish fried like we do in the south and I received that and more. First we were greeted by the most pleasant lady at the front as soon we opened the door. You seat yourself so I sat where I could see an entire view of the restaurant and watch the service. It was an experience. The staff were punctual, friendly, and the service was fast. My food was so fresh and served within what seemed like minutes of me placing my order. I loved my experience at Bayseas and I would definitely return on my next visit to San Antonio. Oh I forgot to mention the door never stopped turning while we were eating and they were getting the to go orders in and out along with servicing the dine in area with the same efforts. Great service wins every time for me.

Excellent service! My two servers were amazing! Meme and Patricia were our waiters and they were so patient and kind. We were a huge party of 8, and it was my Great Grand mother birthday! I had the oxtails- it was AMAZING! See pic below ❤️

Their fried catfish was really good! The fried shrimp and oysters were good as well. The seasoning they use to fry their seafood is pretty tasty. Gumbo wasn’t that great, but it was definitely flavorful. The smothered pork chop was really good also, but the gravy was slightly too salty (same with the gravy on the mashed potatoes). Overall, great place with good service and friendly staff!

Great seafood! Love the shrimp plate and the place was packed when I went (Friday -Lent). They got me seated right away and service was fantastic! Lots of variety so stop by! Several Locations in SA. Nothing fancy just good food, service and clean.

Clam Chowder and fried shrimp with hush puppies just out of the ordinary, a real collection of flavors on a just one line of the panoramic menu. A good choice for the sea food lovers.

Delicious! We ordered several portions of catfish and shrimp and received more pieces than what was offered. Bonus! We also got a shrimp po-boy. The staff is very welcoming and professional. My family and I will definitely be re-visiting this restaurant in the future.

A must ! Amazing customer service (I was greeted with a smile) and melt in your mouth southern food. Seasoned well and the fried okra was cooked to perfection. - Portion size was just right - I should’ve tried their sweet tea, as Bush’s has been the only sweet tea I can find in SA. Guess I’ll be back to try it

Quality food!! You know there’s passion when they plate their food well. Prices are outstanding too, we thought 1 filet would literally mean 1 filet, but noooo it comes in so many pieces. We ordered 1 catfish, 1 trout and 1 cod. That whole basket was what we got. Fish breading was well seasoned, tasted fresh and crisp. Gumbo was delicious on top of the cutest presentation. Fried mushrooms had great seasoned breading. We will definitely be back to try the whole menu. Friendly server(s)also mentioned that the fish were fresh and not frozen. In my opinion I think most of the fish wasn’t frozen, except MAYBE the cod. But that’s just my opinion. Overall one of the best restaurants we’ve had, with really affordable prices to add on.d mushroo

Deeeeeelicious! Very generous portions for great prices. Catfish, shrimp, and hush puppies are my favorite! My husband loves the gumbo and our kids pretty much love everything on the menu. Go hungry and believe me you will not be disappointed. 10/10

By far some of the Best Southern and Soul Food. I have ever had. Huge Portions and the sweet tea is next to none. Plus the cups are massive. Service was Amazing as well they brought out samples as I was new and everything was Fantastic. Yes the Catfish is literally The Best in San Antonio plus add there homemade Tarter Sauce and your living your best life. Thank you.

First time eating at this Bayseas location and I am very impressed. There customer service and food service are very professional and respectful. I ordered the catfish and shrimp plate. Waited maybe 6 mins and the food was so hot and delicious. Very fresh and clean taste. Highly recommend if your in the area and you want some bomb seafood.

Bayseas is now our favorite place to eat...best catfish I ever ate! Actually everything we ate was amazingly great...the staff are wonderful and accommodating...our server named BB was one of the best servers I've ever had the pleasure to meet..his work ethics and care of patrons in the hospitality industry is outstanding! I am so glad I read all the reviews online about this place and decided to try it. It was amazing! The entire place was so clean! You can tell that they take pride in everything they do. We told them it was our first time there and they brought us samples of their fried catfish and gumbo. Wow!!! Delicious! We ordered the catfish lunch specials, cornbread, and gumbo. It was all so incredible! The owner and staff were so kind and attentive. We will definitely be back and we already referred our family to come try it before we had even left.

The gumbo is the best in San Antonio. The Soul Food Sunday menu fairly new and offers a variety of choices.

I visited this place on April 11 and to my friend and I surprise it was soooo good. The wait staff was very helpful, friendly and recommended different things for us. The price was very reasonable and the bathroom was very clean. I would highly recommend this place to sit down and eat. When I visit San Antonio again I will be back

Stopped in here for the first time on Wednesday and then came back only 4 days later with more family and friends so they can see what a great place it is. The food is wonderful and the staff are as well. Definitely my new to go spot for seafood.

Great food and great service! Had the catfish and two sides dinner. Mash potatoes with brown gravy was awesome! The black eye peas had so much flavor! A terrific dinner with my niece Lorraine.

We had our very first visit this evening. Everything, and I do mean, EVERYTHING, was amazing. From walking into the building, our waitress opened the door FOR US. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding! I’m very happy we decided on this place

Me and the wife decided to try the Sunday menu. We got a little bit of everything and the hardest part was picking a favorite. Fantastic food and the service was top notch as well.

Small place but man I'm glad I stopped in. Had the 3 piece catfish and I can say there was more than enough food. The fish was perfectly battered and fried. Moist meat and the onion rings were off the chain!! I will be back
