Review Nosh - San Antonio

Wonderfully presented, carefully prepared dishes, and cheerfully served by experienced staff with an Incredible ambience would enlighten any conversation! I came back in today (a monthly later) with my family, again the superb services with discreetness. The porto list completed night, perfectly! Most recommended for anyone to give a go!

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening! The food, the service, and the ambiance were phenomenal.

Great experience with five a course meal with wine pairings. Appetizers, Lobster, duck. Lamb and dessert with a wine for each. Chef was given wines and selected foods to pair. Chef did a great job. Pours were ample recommend Uber or taxi.

This is a 5 star dining experience in my opinion. Everything was top notch to the service, the food and the ambiance. I had the herb roasted 1/2 chicken over butter garlic mashed potatoes and the au jus was out of this world. My husband had the beef tenderloin over butter garlic mashed potatoes with smoked broccolini. For dessert we had the coconut pie with a shortbread crust and raspberry coulis. I highly recommend everyone try this restaurant, it's the most delicious food we've ever had.

Sorry for the half eaten food photos, but the food looked so good and smelled so good we didn't wait to take photos. We haven't been to the silo since it reopened, but we were extremely surprised at how good everything was.

I didn't realize that the original @siloelevated is the Alamo Heights location. It's all of our first time to visit for dinner tonight. It's a touch different than the other locations. Dad had the Limeade, I had Malbec, and my husband had the Spellbound Pinot Noir. Dad and I shared the Chicken Orzo Soup. My husband had the Baby Wedge. The 2 Way Foie Gras was so delectable! The braised version was fantastic. Just wish there were more toast. Dad and I shared the Pan Roasted Red Snapper. My husband had the Center Cut Ribeye. Everything was so good. We left so full! Tonight, they were having a promotion. If you spend $100, then they give you a $50 gift card to use on your next visit. What a deal!

We totally love Silo... Always have. This was our first time patronizing this location though. Just as the other Silo's we've tried, this one DID NOT disappoint. Elegant, Opulently arranged, Decadent, Tasty to be sure, Quality Food, Brilliant Presentation and Superb Service.

Fantastic meal and wonderful staff! The kitchen made the most delicious plates! Scallops were melt in your mouth and the tenderloin was perfection! Also, it was our anniversary and the staff gave us some beautiful flowers! Thank you for making our dinner special!

Attended this lofted restaurant from out of town, and read the reviews before ultimately becoming compelled to taste it for ourselves. We enjoyed the unique offerings of duck and crab-accompanied salmon! Their wine selection was great as well! Our server, Joseph, was very friendly and attentive, as was the Silo Director of Operations, Patrick, who stopped by our table for an engaging chat. I love that type of attitude from the management because it displays their desire to serve even though they are above the position of a "server." We will likely be back, and we'll hopefully have the steaks next time!

The food was great! I’m usually not a fan of fried oysters, but my friend ordered them and I’m was happily surprised. The Cesar salad is good, as well as the chocolate torte, but the Chilean sea bass took the show for me. Highly recommend for a date or girls night.

A fine dining experience. The food is amazing, the service is top notch and the wine selection is on point. As many times as I dine in San Antonio, I cannot think of a better dining experience yet.

I've been wanting to try Silo for a while now, and decided to celebrate a special occasion there. It was amazing! Our server was on point! He took excellent care of us, provided descriptions on dishes, and cleared our plates soon after we were through with each course. Each person loved their dish, its freshness, taste and plating was really nice! The water tasted great, too. I know that may seem a strange point, but I don't like when water tastes like it came from the kitchen sink. This was filtered, and fresh citrus of our choice was added upon request. The lamb over garlic potatoes was excellent! The fish was fresh and well seasoned over delicious risotto... and the tomato basil soup was the best I've had. What a wonderful night of good company and food!

Had a wonderful dinner experience at Silo. The scallops and duck were cooked to perfection and the coconut cream pie was excellent. Our waiter, "The Boss", was awesome. We'll be back.

Amazing restaurant! Amazing staff! Outstanding food! I totally forgot to take pics of the wonderful entrees, so I leave you with this key lime dessert. So yummy!!!! 🥰

This is their Valentine’s Day dinner for two set meal. You have three choices of appetizer, entrée, and dessert. They are delicious!!! The place is a bit dark but food and service are super!

Started at the lounge for Happy hour drinks where 5$ can't beat the price pretty good drink choices I had the deep Eddy's and lemonade .👍 Then we went up stairs for a anniversary dinner... The price for the food is not worth the what you get. I had gotten the ribeye steak a 14oz steak they could definitely serve 8 or 10 oz steak for a another less expensive option. Service was very good and she took care of well .

The manager there helped me pick out my favorite type of wine. It was Valentine's Day. I had a great experience with my husband. The food was absolutely amazing; worth every penny.

Had an excellent dinner last night! We enjoyed the happy hour downstairs with some live music and then headed upstairs for our 8:15 dinner reservations. We were actually celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary with our friends. We ordered jumbo crab cake, beet salad & fried oysters for appetizers & let me just say that it was all delicious! We were also brought a assortment of bread and softened butter. The guys did go back downstairs to get another drink at the "happy hour" price & brought it back up to the table. As soon as they say we were asked if we were ready for our entrees & they were brought out all at the same time. We had the pork Shank, two 14oz. Ribeyes & a Seabass & scallops dish for our group of 4. We will definitely be coming back for a special dinner in the near future.

Amazing service, atmosphere and food! Our server Jorge was super friendly, helpful and just the right amount of attentiveness (if you're a server or have been you know.) Thank you for a wonderful anniversary dinner!

Small & cozy and the food is always great! A wonderful neighborhood place to relax & unwind. There's a good selection of wines, beers and cocktails, too. And if you want an upscale experience, dine upstairs at Silo!

Excellent food! Excellent service! The chef greeted us with a warm hello walked us to our seats and went over the menu with us, wow! What chef does that? He explain that everything is made fresh daily including the pasta made from scratch. Everything here is a WIN! A really Big Win. Very small restaurant owned by Silos. I'm not sure if the menu changes daily, I got the feeling is it is Italian food regularly.

Simple, Fresh, Yummy.

Really enjoyed my visit and meal! The pizza was delicious as well as the other interesting and delicious options that were shared between my friend and I! Small and intimate environment, very nice and relaxing. I'll go back!

Tried Nosh on a Friday night. Arrived to a half a empty restaurant and immediately wondered if I made a mistake driving so far. The food and service proved me wrong. The waitress was speedy and pleasant. We ordered the Burrata, a pizza and the fries. We thought we were going to have to order more, but for two of us the amount of food was sufficient. Everything was delicious. The menu looked awesome and now I want to go try all the other plates.

Our first visit was a disappointment. The lobster ravioli was very undercooked , sent back, and reserved still too chewy. The pork belly pizza was ok but lacked the depth of flavor of the pork belly that was to be the star. We would expect that with this short of menu the execution should be better. Not a full house on our Saturday night visit, hopefully they improve.

Nosh B'Gosh. Every dish here is a wonder and a delight. Favorites are Parmesan truffle fries that arrive piping hot in a bucket, mussels in a spicy broth that demands a spoon (with accompanying truffle fries), shrimp salad, pizzas that rival and melt-in-your-mouth salmon tartare. This is a favorite neighborhood spot with a casual, sophisticated ambiance, good cocktails, beer and wine offerings and a friendly, attentive staff. Service can miss a step on 2-4-1 Thursdays when the wait staff and bar (shared with sister restaurant Silo) are taxed.

Ate there with my 3 kiddos and the staff was just so friendly and helpful... I have pretty well behaved kids but the staff made a point to be super helpful and that is really appreciated!

Words can't describe how yummy it is. Salivating while typing. Please bring it back to the menu!!

If you want to eat somewhere that you wouldn't bust your diet or healthy lifestyle. This is definitely the place. The salads are very excellent and healthy. One of my favorite places.
Carolina
Was there yesterday , the menu was completely new.The food was ok . Not as good as it had been in the past . They definitely need to reconsider the menu all over again . I used to crave going to nosh . Not so sure I will return. Unless some old items are brought back

Loved it! Food was great, service excellent. The nutella crepe for dessert was out of this world!

Great for Lunch. We stopped in for lunch and were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The fried risotto/mushroom balls were really flavorful and the shrimp salad was filling. We also had the cheese plate served on a nice wooden cutting board. It is small, quaint, clean and inviting for a quick lunch. Most plates are tapas and the price is on the high side, but the food is also exquisite. We expected this since it is attached to Silo. Great place for a special lunch date.

Good food!. Funny how alot of folks, including myself, can judge a restaurant on quantity and not quality. Nosh serves small plates and great flavors. The menu is simple but nice. My wife and I shared rizotto balls, truffle fries, and a pizza. All were delicious and a fresh change from typical menu food. I'm a newbie to this place and I've heard they change up their menu often, so I'm excited to go back for more cuisine type foods at a decent price.

Pizza pleaser. I'm always pleased with what I order & try to take a bite out of my lunch partner's dish if they"ll let me. The Pizza anything is always a good choice.

Pax de Deux. I decided to have a "la-di-da" lunch today. An occasion that one usually reserves for a familial rendezvous with one's grammy and having lunch somewhere frou frou like Nordstrom with tea and finger sandwiches - i.e., tiny chef prepared food, large prices . . .. Nosh was having a two for one "Snack" special so, since I had never been there, I thought this semi-posh son of Silo would probably fit the bill.

Ordered a pair of snacks; Argentinian sausage about the diameter of your index finger, grilled and served in a small, but expressive coil en brochette - accompanied by mild chimichurri with more of a velvet hammer versus the usual garlic wallop and a little more acid (vinegar?) than I like; Italian roast (porchetta) that was sliced delightfully thin and captured between toasted rustic bread halves with a smooth aioli and sauteed mushrooms that became part of the buttery avocado layer with a texture very satisfying on the tongue.

Yep. You could say I liked it. Not just because of where I was or who prepared it. I liked it because it was good. Did it speak to my soul or grab me way down deep inside by the pyloric sphincter? No and yes respectively . . . . just kidding. But was it "full price" good? H-m-m-m???

I am definitely not one of those that favors chef inspired dishes with exorbitant prices nor am I of a mentality that says if the food is good I don't mind paying a lot. Hogwash!!. I have had very, very well prepared food and it does not have to be expensive (pet peeve if you couldn't tell, and I will stop my rant here). Since my opinion usually favors frugality, the aforementioned question is one that you will just have to answer for yourself.

Fantastic! Absolutely~. Meatloaf and zucchini
Mussels in a curry sauce
New York Sour: Whiskey, sweet & sour, Melbec
Tiramisu
Fried Gnoccho w/ caramel & nutella dipping sauces

Very good! I had the Wednesday special which was braised short rib and risotto. I really liked it. Portion was just enough. Waiter was very very attentive and nice. A lil pricy for lunch but I didnt mind because the quality of food was high, not processed. Would go again. Enjoyed it!

Recently changed!. As of early October 2012, new chef and 100% new menu. Basically a new restaurant, so previous reviews should be wiped. With 89% rating, why did they change it completely? Much more expensive with the smaller portions. We are not large people, but spent $170 for four adults and left hungry. Fries were excellent along with new sweet gnocchi dessert, but most dishes were a huge miss... Like.... Argentinian sausage, roast beef sandwich, seafood tagliatelle, braised pork belly. All disappointing. Mozzarella skewers were decent. Arancini was pretty good. However...For these prices, we could have walked upstairs and eaten at silo.... And not have left hungry. Soooo disappointed. I would tweak most of the dishes, bring a few favorites back, and serve a lot of bread... We used to eat here frequently, but will not be back :-(. Off to eat a bowl of cereal.

Dinner. Recently changed menu/chef are fantastic. The truffle fries, aranchini, and pizza are eleven out of ten. We will be adding Nosh to our regular rotation.

My friends and I ordered the pork meatballs, Korean beef tacos, classic sliders and a sausage pizza. Everything was excellent!! My only complaints are very minor- they left the mushrooms on the pizza and the tortillas were a bit chewy. However, the flavor more than made up for it. I WILL be visiting again and trying many more dishes. I recommend eating family style to try a little of everything.
Cajun Guy
Fantastic menu, pleasant ambience, exceptional food, wonderful service. It's a little 'different' than most restaurants, but you're sure to love it. Perfect for a party of two on a special date night.

Was very good. But I need to try it again. I got the prime-rib burger sliders which were really good. I wish they would just move this place and not share with Silo. Parking is bad....good luck during peak hours.

Groupon for Nosh led us here;. But we will definitely be going back again! The groupon was for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, & a dessert, but there were 4 of us so we just paid for whatever else we ordered. For the appetizers we got the green chile macaroni & cheese, garlic french fries, and the noshos. They were all delicious. For our entrees; my mother & myself got the slider sampler, my brother got the sampler too but instead of a crab slider he added a pork, & my grandma got the Korean BBQ pork tacos. I thought the pork slider was okay, the beef one was a little dry (my mom said it just needed more mayo, that probably would have helped), and I really loved the crab slider, it was scrumptious. Next we ordered dessert; my brother got the Italian doughnut holes (from the Nosh menu), my mother got the vanilla bean creme brulee (from the Silo menu), & I got the dark chocolate mousse (also from the Silo menu). My grandma didn't order a dessert she just tried a bite of what everyone else got. I tried a doughnut in each chocolate dipping sauce, the doughnuts were awesome, the dark chocolate sauce was good, but the white chocolate sauce was amazing! I don't even really like white chocolate either. My mousse was of course super delicious, and then I tried my mom's creme brulee (not knowing what to expect, as I had never tried creme brulee before) and it was sooo good, not even just good, but fantastic/ died and gone to heaven good! I cant wait to go back, but will probably just have appetizer & dessert because I was so full after we were done. Sorry I didn't get any pictures this time, I was too busy eating! Maybe next time ;P

VERY Unhappy - Poorly Managed. We called and made a reservation; when we arrived we were told they weren't honoring reservations. We waited a half hour and still were not seated. Looks poorly manage because they were not bussing tables as they were vacated and a table remained empty and dirty the whole time we were there. Alls they had to do was tell us over the phone they do not take reservations and that would have been fine. Food looks good but we will never know because we won't return and definitely won't recommend NOSH to our friends. Our reservation was made on 22 April 2012.

Just call it "Eats". I refuse to eat here because "Nosh" is a stupid word for pretentious people. Just call it "Eat" for Pete's sake and I am down. Silo upstairs is pretty great though.

BEST MEAL IN A LONG TIME. Sure. From street-view it looked like the place was dead. My boyfriend was reluctant to go in; not wanting to be the only people there. The view was deceiving. What an absolute charm, this place! Nice choice of wine, mixed drinks & beer! I had the slider sampler (beef, pork & crab) with fries... WHOA! THE BEST SLIDERS I HAVE EVER HAD! (I considered ordering a second round!) Drink wise, I had the backporch lemonade & strawberry Muddy Waters. Amazing! The Korean BBQ tacos were a delight, as well! I will definitely visit again!

Nosh has a great menu! A few of my favorites are the noshos, green chile Mac and cheese, and the shrimp and grits! They are all amazing!!
Rhondalu
Delightful. Enjoyed my fist visit to Nosh. The shrimp and grits w/ tasso ham cider sauce was rich and yummy. I saw dishes at other tables that I'm dying to try in the future--crab sliders and the grilled flatbread de jour. My waitperson was friendly and attentive. There is an incredible beverage menu. A very comfortable place.

Impressed by the food and service. I happened upon this place and was taken aback that something like this existed in a strip mall. The food was very good (Barramundi, Lamb, Crab Cakes, Ahi Tuna) and the wine selection was close to excellent. That made my night. You served Aussie Fish and Wine, can't be beat mate. I also love the bar right below which allows you to dance off the dessert. A must try when in town. MANGIA

Good Noshing. I've driven by this place forever and finally stopped by. What a pleasant surprise! Love the ambiance and the food was better than I expected. In fact, the shrimp and grits is as good as any dish anywhere, period. The only thing we didn't enjoy were the donuts- too cakey and hard. Will be returning for sure.

Happy Hour. At Nosh they have a happy hour from 4-6. You can enjoy a shared plate and then add another for only $1. It's a good deal. Went by and got the jalapeno poppers and the grilled Chinese chicken wings. The wings were so delicious the next time I got back I am getting 2 orders of them!
HBenton
Food is great... Love the green chile mac and cheese! However the wait staff leaves you sitting at times for up to half an hour. If I didn't love the food so much I would leave.
KJ
Love small plates dining-Mosh does it very well! The Korean tacos are wonderful, so is the bruschetta, mac n cheese, wings, everything. But most of all try the donuts!!!!!!

Great food& drinks! It was nice to chillax & nice. I had the dark & stormy it kind of sneaks up on you & the back porch lemonade. Their drinks are small ,potent and tasty. Drinker beware

Awesome food. Great service. Creative , a joy. Mac n cheese was so packed with flavor abd wings had a great sauce. Whish this was in Dallas.

Korean beef bbq tacos. I was already craving them the day after I first tried them. They are unbelievably delicious! The meat is sweet and perfectly cooked.
Deb Youngblood
OMG! I did not know you could do that to grits. sooo decadent. And the mushroom/onion bruschetta...died & gone to heaven good. We will be back.
Nat Mushkin
Best fish taco in town!. Ever hear of mahi-mahi tacos? No joke. they were at Nosh
last time I was there. I hope they keep on serving them.
Outstanding

Just ate at Nosh for the first time and it was AMAZING. I ordered the Greek mezze salad which was very fresh, crunchy and the perfect blend of tart and slightly sweet. I had the mushroom bruschetta as my entree and it was ridiculously good. The bread was perfectly toasted and just the right amount of cheesy and salty. The mushroom topping was divine, and if I could duplicate it, I'd definitely make it at home. I sampled the doughnuts for dessert and they were incredible; very fluffy, well seasoned and the dipping sauces were a great accompaniment. Can't wait to go back to Nosh!

A Unique Eatery. My wife and I ate at Nosh last night using a Groupon. Had never heard of the place and worried just a bit as we left the heart of Alamo Heights. Parking was sparse. Upon entering this place, the staff warmly greeted us. We picked a small table (they're all small) in the back. The ambiance is great with brick walls, black-and-white photos, and (best of all) 100% blues music. The manager/owner waited on us until the place got packed. Menu was eclectic, unique, and varied. My wife went for the chef's special: a pizza-like offering on flat bread. Crispy, slightly burnt (which is a good thing) crust, with lively herbs, sauce, and meat. Yum. I went for the cheese steak with garlic aioli fries. Best cheese steak ever. Baguette was fresh and toasted, meat juicy, and fries rocked. Despite an ever growing crowd, we never felt rushed. Drinks were 4 ounce offerings. At $8 each, way overpriced; however, the staff said that the price is dropping by 50% next week and gave us two. This is a must-do eatery. Groupon brought us in, but we'll come back again! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Incredible food. Nice selection of dishes. Not a lot of kids' dishes if they stick to plain food. Macaroni is spicy, crab cakes are delicious and shrimp corn dogs are fun.

Holy crap, I'm tempted not to write anything about Nosh because I'd like to have a table on Friday nights, but I just can't resist. Atmosphere is very pleasant, it's small enough to be intimate, and the food is flat out awesome. Fries with garlic aioli. Green chili mac and cheese, and BBQ pork tacos are favorites. Don't forget to try the doughnuts. The only thing that would make this place better is if the beer were on tap. Pricey beer choices but the rest of the menu is very reasonable
Soraya
Food, decor, service, and drinks were impeccable. Green chile mac and cheese was fantastic, along with all 6 dishes we tried. This is my new favorite spot. Super affordable as well.
Detailman
Outstanding in every way. The pasta with Italian sausage is the best thing I have ever tasted - ever! Our waiter, Liko, was fantastic. Ask for him by name.
The Prima Donna
This salad was exquisite. Large, firm shrimp were served with tomato, basil, thin slices of cucumber, and small bits of avocado. The lemon vinaigrette was perfect for the dish. At $10, this salad was a steal for the quality and flavored it delivered. Plus, the presentation was perfect.

Nosh win’s the “Must try before you die,” award.

The menu focuses on small, shared plates and is extensive without overextending. Since my co-critic is 12 years old, we focused on kid friendly fare.
