Since I moved to San Antonio, Texas almost two months ago, I wanted to try Azro Authentic Afghan Cuisine. It’s run by an Afghan family. Great ambience, presentation of food excellent, the friendliness of the owner himself and his son was authentic Afghan hospitality. The food tasted great. I ordered Qabuli Pilaf and Eggplant dish on the side. They served the food with a freshly baked loaf of bread from the Tandoor.
I was happy with everything and the price was reasonable. Well done Azro.
We had an amazing experience eating here! The food and service was great. The owner and his son were very kind and made awesome recommendations. I highly recommend eating here, you will not regret it!
Amazing authentic Afghan food. Feels homemade and high quality.
Ambience is ok. Went on a mellow Saturday afternoon, service is nice.
Tried their mix plate along with chapli kabab plate. By far the best Afghan restaurant in San Antonio
I happened upon this restaurant accidentally. I was planning on going for sushi but parked in front of Azro and decided to try. I have not had Afghanistan cooking before so why not give it a try.
The inside is nicely decorated and very inviting. The gentleman at the counter greeted me as soon as I walked in, and as there were no other customers at the time, I choose my seating.
The menu is not overwhelming, with appetizers, entrees, vegetarian options, and a kids menu. I started with a pot of mint tea, which was delicious and refreshing. As I was undecided between lamb and kebabs, the combination platter was suggested. This was served with a green salad and the dressing is one I have never tasted, and was quite delicious.
My entree was better than expected. The meats were seasoned perfectly and the rice beyond words delicious.
I will be back to try a few more dishes.
So if you are in the area, skip the sushi and stop by and have a meal. You will not be disappointed. I sure was not.

I've had some Afghanistan food in Afghanistan before and this was my first time at Azro. My client invited me to this place and asked me to keep an opened mind. I liked the look of the interior of the restaurant, there's even a small section for more traditional dinning were you can sign on the rugs. The tea was very delicious and soothing with its taste and aroma. My client and me ordered the same type of dish and we both were very satisfied. I'm not a big lover of lamb but it was good. The host, which I believe was the owner was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning and trying some of the other meals.
I ordered pick up and got the mantoo, bolani, and kabuli palow lamb. I don’t usually like lamb but this dish was so good. The lamb was tender and fell off the bone. The mantoo and bolani were also really good.
Best Afghani food in Texas! If you’ve had Afghani food in NY/NJ and have been missing it, this is the place to be. And yes, they do have the NY famous “white sauce”.
Of course service is top notch 5 star!
It was my first time trying Afghan food so I wasn’t real sure what to expect. We started with the Sambosa’s which were hot, fresh and delicious. For an entree I had the Kabab-E-Morgh. The rice was really good and the chicken had an amazing flavor profile. The waiter was patient, attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. A fun find with amazing food.
I'm from the Middle East i know when the food is really authentic , so this is authentic food , and family owned, you kid served by the son , and the food is made by his mom and the dad is at the register, it's the best food experience I had in the city
