The food was great and very flavorful. The only issue is that the staff either didn't speak loud enough or the atmosphere was too loud. I kept having to ask the server to repeat themselves.

Had lunch here yesterday and the food was Great!!! Beth was the hostess again and Destiny was our server! Excellent customer service!! Will definitely return again and would definitely recommend. I had grilled chicken with creamy sauce on the side and Mexican rice and refried beans. Hubby had Beef enchiladas with red chile sauce, refried beans, Mexican rice and tortilla soup. We also had tortilla chips and salsa. Since I was in the area near this place, I decided to try out their food. This is a very welcoming and hospitable place. I was greeted as soon as I walked in by the lady at the register. She offered me cold water while I waited to order. She stated all the food there was authentic Mexican food and tasted good. I ordered 2 Big Shot Burritos with ground beef, Mexican cheese, refried beans, Mexican rice, guacamole, Mexican Crema, an order of Chile-Lime Fish Tacos and an order of Flan. Each Big Shot Burrito were enough food for 2 people. The Chile-Lime Fish Tacos came with cilantro rice and black beans. This is the best tasting authentic Mexican food my hubby and I have ever had. The food was well seasoned and the portions were ample and the prices were very reasonable. The Manager was very kind when I added the flan after the fact. The Waiter came out with my food and stated he double wrapped the black beans and to be careful they were placed on the side of all else in bag. He even offered to walk with me to carry out order. We have just found the best locally authentic testing Mexican food here in San Antonio, Tx. Will definitely return again and certainly recommend to others. The wait for orders was very quick. The food was excellent. Would definitely return and would definitely recommend.

Our new favorite Mexican restaurant!! Too many great dishes to choose from but no matter what we get, we always order a side of the creamy poblano sauce. Carnitas are awesome and Kasey is the bomb on wait service. Palomas are delicious.

The service and food were both excellent. Christopher provided regular service and his suggestions were on point. The buttered tacos sounded ok but they were delicious. The shells were crispy and meat was full of flavor. He suggested the cilantro sauce for the enchiladas & I asked for a side of it to try it. O my goodness it was amazing. I would highly recommend getting it.. on anything. I put some of it in a taco and it made the buttered taco even better. I then had some on a chip & it was just as good. If you get a margarita, go for the top shelf. It's just the right amount of hard liquor and makes it even more delicious. I will definitely return here!

Trying to find a last minute brunch place that sat a group of 10 people inside. I called before they opened and a lady answered. She answered all my questions and was very pleasant to speak with. When we got there she was our server and did amazing. She explained the buffet to us and was on top of everything. The food was great and everyone had something to eat from the buffet. I was so happy that everything turned out great.

Compared to the chain Mexican restaurants in the San Antonio area, this restaurant is great. Decent salsa, great fajitas, soups, and margaritas. Service is always spot on and the one time it wasnโ€™t the waiter was very kind and apologetic. I would recommend ordering a side of creamy cilantro or poblano to go with your meal (especially fajitas) because they are fantastic!

We hosted our holiday work party for 50 people on 12/14. From beginning to end the Ajuua team was amazing. Jorge and Steven helped us set up our reservation, spoke to us about lunch options and how to best set up the tables. On the day of the event our section of the restaurant was ready to go by 11. The place was decked out with holiday lights and with a pretty tree. It looked very festive. Our teams arrived by 12:30 and the waitstaff was ready. They were friendly, efficient and courtesy. The food arrived promptly and was delicious! Everyone cleaned their plates. The lunch specials were priced right and had a good portion of food. We had a great experience at Ajuua and highly recommend you check them out. We will be back! Gracias!

Very average

Saeturday night. We ordered taco salad, veggie tacos, and beef tacos. All were average. Service was fairly attentive. Parking isn't a problem. A decent place if you're in the area.

I'm addicted to queso, el pastor tacos with big red Rita! Seriously crave them constantly. Drinks are strong! Great place to go for girls night.

In San Antonio we're jaded when it comes to Mexican food~. I went awhile after this location open I thought it a bit pricey, food was good, nothing special for their prices @ lunch.
Management seemed flummoxed when asked about an item.It may be a fly by night place, Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen here.
Here one day~gone the next.

Epic Failure. Arrived at Ajuua at about 4:30 on 21 May 14. Restaurant was empty except for a large party on the patio. We waited for a hostess to be seated and no one showed up. I ended up walking through the restaurant until I found the manager. I asked the manager if we could be seated for dinner. He seemed frustrated, but found a waiter to seat us. Waiter was pleasant, but seemed new, not really knowing happy hour drink prices. This was our second visit to this restaurant and really enjoyed the top shelf margaritas that last time. I asked to upgrade the drink to include Patron. The waiter did not know the price and had to check with the manager. The manager quoted to top shelf price, but added $2.00. This was already on top of the increased happy hour prices from our last visit when they did not up-charge for Patron. We were told the new price is $10.00. We placed the order and ordered dinner. Shortly, the waiter returned and told us the price for the Margarita was now $11:00. We cancelled our order and left.

Great food, ask for Kat. Wonderful waitress.

Horrible place to try; specially if you are hungry. Bad service, diluted drinks and over priced food.
It seemed like a nice place to try, the menu seemed very appetizing at first; but such a disappointment once you receive your meal. The waiter/waitress also confessed they have to charge for any extra sauce, sour cream or anything you might need to complete your meal or they'll get in trouble for not doing so.
If you want Mexican Food you'll be better of going to a known franchise than this local restaurant. They will buckle and dime you every chance...just sayin'

WORST PLACE EVER. Went on a Tuesday for lunch, manager on duty was complaining to someone else for a couple minutes before we were finally seated, ordered mojitos, too sweet very little rum. took 15 minutes after getting our drinks (which took 10 to get when we could see the bar from our seats) for us to finally see someone to order food from. after half an hour we finally saw our waitress to ask about our food order, ordered a second round, after another 15 minutes we see the waitress again who tells us that service is backed up (you don't say) and it still took another 10 minutes to get our 2nd round of drinks. Left after sitting at a table FOR A COMPLETE HOUR when the waitress told us she still didnt see our food on the line. NEVER GOING BACK, HORRIBLY SLOW, DRINKS WERE TOO SYRUPY WITH LITTLE ALCOHOL, DIDNT GET OUR FOOD AFTER AN ENTIRE HOUR. also, the bathrooms were gross with paper towels and what i hope was water all over the floor

Give it a second try. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally ended up there on 10/19/2012 @ 4:15pm. Very efficient staff and friendly too. I ordered the fish tacos. It was a big mistake, the dish was ugly, absolutely no taste (bland) not even salt, rice was disgusting and the fish smelled like it was partially decomposed. The entire plate was gray/pale very unappetizing. The best item on the plate was the beans. El Grito Margarita was great. I plan to go back and give it a second try. Judging from my first visit, I would say that the food here sucks. I am a culinary school graduate. If the food doesn't look good chances are it's not gonna taste good.

Love this place! Patio seating, everything I've tried has been great. Try the queso with Pico.

Best place for happy hour!. I come for the margaritas and the patio and stay for the food! Unlike some places, they don't skimp on their drinks. During happy hour (until 7:30), $7 buys you a top shelf margarita that is oh, so good on a hot Texas day! In my opinion, the margaritas are some of the best in town! The chips are good. The salsa varies in spiciness almost every time we go. I haven't been too thrilled with their appetizers, but who needs them when you get chips and salsa? Get some queso, and you're good to go. Some of the menu items are hit or miss. Some of the better choices: Their shrimp tacos are well-seasoned, topped with slaw and pico, and their delicious chipotle cream sauce. Another favorite is the chicken enchiladas. Take note of their extensive list of possible sauces. They also make a pretty darn good Cuban sandwich. The service is always friendly and they have a fountain on their covered patio. In summary, the food is generally pretty good, but the margaritas will blow your mind.

Happy Hour to Dinner. It was just beginning to get a little crowded on Fri afternoon but we managed to snag a table on the patio. It was a beautiful day, perfect for patio seating even though the patio faces the parking lot like many patios around the city but at least they put in a fountain to distract you from the cars plus lots of umbrellas for shade. I had a glass of sangria, its refreshing & light on the wine. Then I had the top shelf w El Jimador & it was pretty good. We ordered the Ceviche Pacifico-actually its a Cocktail de Camaron cuz it only had shrimp & pico de gallo sauce but was quite good. On to dinner, I ordered the Tacos Nortenos-wow, they had lots of tasty beef & cheese, could have used more avocado but the flavor was delicious. My g-friend ordered the Churrasco Beef Skirt Steak and it had a really tasty beefy flavor. The chimichurri sauce that came out w that steak was outstanding. On top of all this good food was the great service, it was friendly & attentive.

Had the big shot burrito, great flavor and value. Chips and salsa were great as well. Would come back. Not great ambiance or service but it's cheap Mexican food so...

Nothing special. Very average. Wouldn't go out of my way to return. Wasn't bad, just wasn't memorable.

Dang good!. This place makes me wish I had an Ajuua next to my house back home! My wife was impressed by the Tinga Chicken and my simple chicken in tomatillo was really beyond expectation. Very nice very strong flavor with a simplicity most restaurants miss. I highly recommend this REAL MEXICAN restaurant, no tex mex cheese shower here!

A keeper.... I have been to Ajuua Mexican Bar n Grill several times and love it.
The food was delicious and my servers were more than pleasant.
The inside is modern and bright, with windows almost floor to ceiling.
The outside is very nice, but I prefer the inside with the air condition. : )

Good food and service. I've been here twice and had good food and service both times. Took my mom and boyfriend for their first time and they both liked the food. Went here w/ my mom and she really liked her quesadilla. They have soft, thick tortillas that don't fall apart when stuffed w/ food. My boyfriend had the enchiladas and he thought they were flavorful and filling. The chips are warm and crisp and the salsa is good. The manager went around talking to tables and also pouring iced tea. I think management has improved since the previous reviews because service was spot on. We were given glasses of iced tea before we were even done w/ ours. The menu is a little pricey but has unique selections compared to other Mexican food restaurants. They have a nice outdoor seating area w/ fans that mist water. Both my mom and boyfriend were impressed and said they would return for sure. I like this restaurant and have tried many Mexican food restaurants in San Antonio.

Great food and drinks! Mango margaritas....yum

Chilli lime tilapia fish tacos are the best!!

Consistently Bad Service. We live nearby and have tried Ajuua a handful of times over the years. Generally, the food has been good although the service is always bad. I'm not sure how they cultivate such a consistently bad experience, but there you have it. After waiting 45 minutes for our food and putting up with an unsurprisingly rude waiter on our last visit, I think we'll be writing this one off our list permanantly.

If there was a "ehh it's okay" options I would pick that. I did like the presentation of food and the budlight was good. She thought her fish tacos were amazing.

Best Mexican food I've had in San Antonio. wasn't sure what to expect because the place is in a mini shopping center, but if the place downtown people would forget about acenar. this is not your heavy Mexican food type of place. everything is plated great and comes out looking very sexy! the food is light and well priced! I'm bringing friends next time.

HORRIBLE. Had to send food back b/c they cooked it wrong. I thought the flour tortillas were corn, b/c they were so thin and not cooked. I ordered Huevos Rancheros for breakfast/brunch. Food just didnt have flavor. I could have gone down the street to a Taqueria, paid 1/2 the price and gotten better food. Stay away if you want authentic Mexican food.

Great light Mexican food. Coming from Southern California, it's been hard to adjust to the heavy Tex/Mex food often found in San Antonio. This place gave us exactly what we were looking for...light flavorful cuisine. My favorite is their Tortilla Soup. It's simple and wonderful.

Hidden Jewel!. Since it is not located on the access road of a major Highway, it doesn't get the exposure of traffic other restaurants get. If you don't know it's there, you're missing out! They've got the best margaritas, and reasonably priced food with really good quality, taste and portion! They don't only serve Mexican cuisine, but other Latin cultures as well, such as Brazillian Caiperenas, and churrasco steaka. Mmmm Mmmm Good! You've got to try the whole menu soon! You won't be dissapointed. You might even see Robert Horry there, he frequents the place so much, they named an enchilada plate after him.

Ajuรบa, on the north-west side, is a much more current sort of slightly-upscale Mexican restaurant. A modest space in a modest shopping center that also features a kolache bakery and a Chinese restaurant, Ajuรบa is relatively new, with attractive dรฉcor of a much more contemporary sort. We still had to wait an inordinate amount of time upon our arrival, nearly half an hour after the day's opening, but this time it was because everyone on the staff (except the bartender) was in a meeting somewhere o
