Review Thai Dee - San Antonio

Service was good. Food was decent, more fusion taste than authentic Thai… their Thai tea was really good tho.

Authentic food; tasty, huge portions! Bit busy when we went; took a while to get food. Decor is ok.

Happen to stop by on the way home. This place by the corner with old fashioned door and as i got in that very moment i felt this place has something good. I usually would have sit down and spent some time but today was in hurry. I like to decide upon a restaurant by their basic like Tom Kha Soup! It was 💯 amazing… this place is great… sweet simple and old which really looks for giving good food and a warm feel. Go for it and if you like this place hit me a 👍🏻 and let others too enjoy the flavor.

First time here. For a Monday at 1230 it was almost full. Alot of togo orders as well. Constant flow of business. Seems popular. Tried the shrimp rolls appetizer which were good. Shrimp a little small, wrapper seemed to hide shrimp some but wrapping was crunchy with decent flavor overall. I always try Pad Thai whenever I'm at a new place. This one was a huge lunch portion served with 2 vegetable eggrolls. Eggrolls ok, again good crunch/flavor. Pad Thai with Tofu was really tasty. Not too spicy which I liked. I definitely be back to try more.

We've been hearing great things from our friends about this restaurant but never had the opportunity or time to come here until recently. Oh my, I should've come sooner! ‼️🙅 Let me start with the one down point: For your choice of meat, I wouldn't go for chicken. ❌🐔 I tried that the first time, I didn't like the texture or how they cooked it, it's not the tender soft chicken I was hoping for, so the second time I ordered my main with prawns and it was much better. 🦐 Prawns cost you $2 more but it's well worth it and pairs with their dishes well. I had beef with the other main and it was quite nice as well 🐮. Just don't order chicken. ✅💁 And with the good points: Their flavors are so good and portions are generous. I recommend the following dishes: Pad Thai with tofu or prawns or beef Tom Yum soup on its own or with prawns Curry fried rice with beef or tofu Thai Iced Tea 🥤 (so good I would go back just for the Iced tea)

Delicious!!! My favorite is the Thai Basil Fried Rice. Highly recommend. The service is the best!! The owner is really sweet and observant to customer needs. Awesome authentic Thai restaurant.

We always forget to snap photos because we are too excited to get into the flavors. We have been coming here for years and cannot recommend enough! The staff is so friendly and the food is so fresh. It is BYOB so don’t forget your favorite bottle of wine!

1st time here. It had been strongly recommended by others for their authentic Thai dishes. It's a cute hole in the wall next to a convenience store and has been a staple in the neighborhood for many years. I arrived for lunch on a Monday. I was immediately greeted and seated. The server was friendly and attentive. The lunch menu had a variety of options and the portions were generous. I ordered my dish at Medium heat and it was perfect, not too spicy but enough heat. You can actually taste the soul in the food, it was flavorful! I was quite impressed with my 1st time experience. I will certainly be coming back again for sure. Check them out for yourself!

I’m non vegetarian and my hubby is vegetarian. I ordered the spicy eggplant with chicken. It was good flavor but not as spicy even with the chili paste. My hubby said he’s not touching his food 2nd time as he could taste fish!!! Oh well more for me 😋. I gave 4 stars!!!

Great food! One of the best food I’ve had in San Antonio. Also, lunch special prices! Highly recommend.

I have been to Thai Dee twice and plan to continue eating at this tasty restaurant! The red curry is amazing and my fav, the almond chicken is my second favorite, and I could list the whole menu as my third favorite which I have yet to taste. The 2 times I have been their with family I was able to sample all of my family's plates and every single dish was so full of flavor! My taste buds were in Thai heaven.

I come here on a regular basis and the food is always consistently great. This trip I had the spicy basil noodles with chicken and it did not disappoint. The chicken was super tender ander everything was seasoned perfectly.

By far some of the best Thai food I have ever had. And that let you bring in your own wine 🍷. Their waiters are very nice and will help you in making different choice, since everything looks so good.

It was so good! We ordered curry puffs and they were delicious! The restaurant is small and it was lunch time so we waited a little bit, but it was definitely worth it!

Honestly had never had Thai before and this is the best of the best ❤️ Have tried others but do not match up !

After asking for recommendations for Thai food, our peeps recommended Thai Dee. We were not disappointed. Parking was a little difficult, but worth the trouble. The restaurant is not large and was full of patrons. The menu is extensive. We had three appetizers, soups and five entrees. Everything was delicious and prompt. Service was excellent. Even our two grandkids (20 months and 2 years) loved it. It is BYOB so people had brought their own with a convenient store being next door. Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely return.

I had the Pad Thai lunch special which came with the soup of the day and two vegetable egg rolls all for $8.99. The food came out quick, was fresh and was absolutely delicious. The portion size was very large and I couldn’t finish half of the meal. If you want a cheap, delicious meal and are in the area, I would highly recommend this place.

After reading Thai Dee's glowing reviews, I was stoked to give it a shot. I arrived for lunch and the place was packed (always a good sign). I luckily snagged the last seat in the house. After scanning their extensive lunch menu, I opted for a classic: Pad Thai with chicken. Shortly after placing my order I was brought a bowl of plain looking soup. The broth was simple and well seasoned and there were two large chunks of chicken mingling with the celery and onion. Tasty! Another short wait later and my Pad Thai arrived. The portion was huge and contained a generous amount of chicken, I could only eat half. There were also two spring rolls that accompanied the dish. The exterior of the spring rolls were too thick and coated in a film of grease. The contents were lukewarm and lacked flavor. I would have appreciated some kind of dipping sauce as it was pretty plain on it's own. The Pad Thai was swimming in grease and burnt to ashes. The bitter taste of char was overpowering and unpleasant and if you look at my photos close enough you can see flakes of burnt food speckled throughout. If I had a longer lunch, I would have sent it back. Not worth the time and hassle over $9. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but first impressions are everything.

Wow, great food at this hidden gem in SA's north central blanco Rd area!
The parking lot is a challenge, and all the construction on blanco is also a pain, but well worth it for the food that awaits the wood panel restaurant.
I had the pad Thai with chicken and the crab ragoons for lunch and they were some of the best I've eaten.
The pad Thai was flavorful with great roasted peanuts and pieces of chicken breast. The pad Thai serving is enough for two people so bring an appetite. Even the chicken soup served before the meal is quite nice.
The service is quick, friend, and very attentive. Overall, great place with great food!

The best thai food in SA! Fresh food and great friendly staff!! This place is gem. From outside it doesn't look like anything but it is diamond in the rough.

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and craving Thai food. I may have picky tastebuds, but this food looked better than it tasted. I ordered beef red curry. It was extremely oily, so much so that the oil had settled at the top of the container. Because I chose delivery, my minimum order had to be over $20. I also got spicy string beans which were oily as well.

first time eating here and i'm impress, if i was alone i would not want to stop and eat here it looks super dirty and trashy from the outside but once you step foot inside WOW its so nice and atmosphere its great, the food its to die for my sister and i had yellow curry, not one think i know is that a lot of people here in san antonio don't know how to cook curry but man on man they do here its was do delish, my sister had there pad thai and wow its so good i didn't think i would like it but i LOVED IT both plates where so good we will be coming back more often..

The first time I tried to eat there I arrived around 7 and there was already a huge wait for tables. This told me that this place must be awesome! It was! The second time we went on a week day and arrived earlier. The atmosphere is amazing! The food is on point! I will definitely become a regular here! Try the pad thai!
Evita
I came here because of the ratings & comments. The 1st time we came was on a Sat kind of late (7 pm) & we had four families ahead of us with no sign of anyone leaving. We were too hungry to wait. I don't say this as a slight only that I knew that if that many people were waiting that long it must be good! I knew we'd be back! Tonight it totally met our expectations. I had the summer rolls & the pad see ewe. The veggies were so fresh & the pad see ewe was seasoned perfectly. & their menu says no MSG, nice! Loved the food & atmosphere! So warm & cozy, seems like you can bring your own wine! We plan on being regulars:-)

Love love love this place! Food is always top quality and prepared when ordered. The owners truly care about customer satisfaction. Please try it - you will like it!
Yes parking is a bear but it's the price to pay for a popular restaurant and great food. Go early if you can
NandishRudra
Probably the best thai food i have had. the decor is very calming and the place is aleays busy. Try the panang noodles .. so noodles are crunchy .. meat is tender and curry is just flavorful. You cannot go wrong with this place.
Bran007
So I really wanted some curry. Havent had any since I left Atlanta and just had to have some. Found the reviews on here and called to order. They dont deliver lunch. I was disappointed but based on the reviews I figured I'd wait and order later. Best decision ever! The Panang Curry was amazing! Some of the best I've had. The rice was perfect, veggies cooked perfectly, chicken was perfect. Did I say it was perfect? Lol. The crab rangoon were very well done and the sauce that came with them was extremely tasteful. I do wish they had told me that there is a 5.00 delivery fee, this was not told to me prior to ordering but aside from that, best food I have had in San Antonio.

First my complaints, It might not be so bad during the week, but parking here on a Friday night at 6:30 was a nightmare! At least one of my friends parked across the street. Service was just OK, and I didn't like that our food came out at different times, one or two people would get their meal, then a bit later another meal would come out and then a bit later, another. The interior is small and was crowded and very loud, making it hard to converse. They automatically added an 18% tip to the bill. I normally tip at least 20%, but I would probably have tipped only 10-15 here.

The food? Ehh! Nothing special to be honest. Not in a huge hurry to get to my leftovers. I prefer Sawasdee, but as I live on the NE side, will look for a Thai restaurant a bit closer to home.
Susan
Sooooo delicious! Get the Moo Ping! I could eat it every day 😍. The coconut sticky rice and mango was fantastic as well, the mango was so fresh and delicious!

Very gracious staff, especially with my crying son.

The food is delicious. Wife had Fried Ribs (delicious). I had Pork Sticks (official name slips me, great taste (savory saucy sweet) and filling. Son (18 month old) had beef Curry Fried Rice (mildly spiced per my request)(great quality, not overly greasy, good amount of vegetables, balanced, recommended). The entrees came with Sticky Rice with a Thai dipping sauce (not soy sauce sweet or salty, slightly bitter with crush chillies, good balance with the slightly sweet meats).

Overall, a favorite if not the favorite meal of our SA trip.

Definitely my favorite Asian place in the whole city. The fried egg rolls and potstickers are amazing. And the spicy noodles dish is all I ever get.

Delicious!. I've been ordering Thai food from here for the past 3 years now and I have to say they are the best! Every plate I've had has been phenomenal and they are always so friendly! It's a beautiful restaurant in not such a great area, but don't let it scare you away...it's totally worth it! Plus they deliver so if you live in the surrounding area it's perfect! Try their Panang Curry!! =)
Abyrd
Edible. I'm a student at trinity University, but originally from Dallas. This place has a $15 minimum and a $5 delivery fee. I ordered chicken pad Thai and rice. It took an hour and a half to get here; the pad Thai had no tamarind and the chicken was really dry. It was not worth $30 or the wait- just order a pizza at least you'll know it'll be good.
Tearonastar5522
ThaiDee. This is the worst place for thai food.yuck! The beef fried rice was so very greasy, oil all over plate...the beef on both platters were so tough...the service was horrible. We, were only a few min late 4 the lunch, they declined to provide us lunch, so in fact they lost a couple of customers with their ugly attitude.
Ciarafaithr
BEST. Every single one of these good reviews are warrented. I now live in new orleans where thai resteraunts are everywhere but Thai Dee will always be my favorite. I've tried everything on the menu and love it all. My favorites are Tom Yum or Tom Kha with spring rolls sub tofu for pork and peanut sauce on the side:) and their fried rice! And their curry! Don't forget thai tea! And you HAVE TO TRY THEIR DESSERTS. I guess my favorite thing is the entire menu

First time, Definitely not the last!. Right as my son and I entered, we were greeted with a smiling face. My son seemed to have grabbed every server's attention as they were showering him with all kinds of attention.. 'This is definitely a kid-friendly atmosphere', I thought to myself. Even though, there are no child-servings of their menu items, I did not mind it at all as I love Thai food and expected great things.
I ordered their Beef Salad because it shared similar ingredients as the Beef Waterfall Salad that I was a huge fan of at in eatery I frequented in Iowa. For my son, I ordered him the Chicken Pad Thai.
Our meals came and the beauty of my Beef Salad plate blew me away! It was the most gorgeous sight.. My first bite of this highly anticipated dish, the explosion of sweet, sour and spicy exploded beautifully in my mouth. I was extremely excited at this point to have this entire plate for myself and even more, that I found this place. My son's dish was awesome, too but I was really just there to see if this place could out-do my fave place to eat back in Iowa. THEY CERTAINLY DID!
I gushed about their food and their service all throughout our meal to a friend that ate with us.
It is pricey, but in this case, you definitely get what you pay for.
It was EPIC!!!

HIGHLY SUGGEST: BEEF SALAD WITH THAI SPICE

The Best Thai Food Restaurant in San Antonio. My favorite dish is the Kao Soi with chicken. It is out of this world! I recommend this place to everyone who mentions or asks about a Thai Food Restaurant.

Best Thai I've had in San Antonio. I got the ginger chicken and a Thai tea. Both were very good. big portions and the ingredients were fresh. Price was not that bad either. Favorite for sure.

The place was very busy and we were greeted with a smile. Service was good food was awesome! Finally found a good Thai restaurant.

Highly Recommend. My friends and I are freshmen at Trinity and looking for good places to eat. Thai Dee is amazing. I had an assignment to eat something new and I'm so glad we picked here to eat. I loved the Kao Soi, and everyone I was with could not stop talking about how great their food was. One of the boys even ordered a second plate of his to go. We will definitely be coming back with to try the lunch special, and we want to bring our parents over parents' weekend. While the parking lot is extremely small and from the outside it looks a little sketchy, inside is totally different. The wood paneling is gorgeous and the atmosphere is very friendly and family centered. Glad we found a new favorite restaurant.

Wow... this place is good!. Out cruising on my motorcycle...no particular place to go. Pulled over and hit up Urbanspoon and I'm glad I did. Yes it is next to a liquor store, yes it has a small parking lot and yes I will be coming back! Nice atmosphere, great prices and great service, I was amazed how fast the spicy noodles and beef came. My Jasmine sweet tea glass was never empty. Word of caution macho man, "medium spicy" is hotter than you think. I like spicy stuff but I had to get some sweet sauce on the side to temper the fire.

Don't let the location dissuade you. On Blanco Rd inside Loop 410 across the street from Nimitz MS, is a gem of a Thai restaurant. The parking lot is small and shared with a convenience store. Open the glass door and you'll enter a cozy space that really belies the exterior -- its inviting, nicely decorated with coffered (but what's that area down the middle of the ceiling?) ceilings and nicely spaced tables.
The lunch special is a good bargain -- $7.99 for the entrees. All the ususal suspects are on the menu: pad thai, green curry, red curry, spicy basil, etc. Each lunch entree comes with a nice clear chicken broth soup loaded with rice and large pieces of thinly sliced white meat. Not long after you order, your meal arrives. And your entree will be accompanied by two small, thin spring rolls.
Service was attentive and gracious. It appears that lots of regulars are there at lunch time and I can see why.

Fan-freakin-tastic food. Ive eaten here dozens of times and the food is second to none in quality, taste, portion, and price. Items I HIGHLY recommend: red curry pumpkin, green curry, kao soi, spicy noodles, curry rice/noodles, the summer rolls, and grilled egg plant. Ive had other things on the menu but these have been a few of my favorite things.

Wait staff and owners are extremely nice and helpful. Tips are shared so you get great service from all employees, not just the one. I cannot speak high enough of Thai Dee. It's my favorite restaurant in San Antonio.
Matt Mannion
Best Thai food we've had in Texas. We had the fried tofu, pumpkin red curry and spicy noodles with beef and would highly reccomend each one. Not far from the airport; do not miss out on this hidden gem!

If I really would take the time to write my thoughts it would be way to long. First off I can't understand why my order process was so difficult, my first three items I tried ordering I was being corrected each time saying I had an old menu, and I simply stated I'm looking at your website and it must be old? Ok than update your site and please stop correcting me. Second is I feel the food was not very tasty and pretty bland, but what really got me is when I received my order I did the math and I figured it out to be around 19.50 or so and I was charged almost 29.00 and on my receipt there was no breakdown just one number. So when you order a chicken appetizer and fried rice, call me crazy but 28.71, wow I'm really disappointed seeing that the restaurant had a strong rating so i would have to say from ordering, portion, menu updates and flavor I would not recommend!
Believeinyourself
Great Thai place for both vegetarians and meat eaters. Authentic, spicy, tasty goodness. The massaman curry was particularly tasty, papaya salad was awesome. Definitely recommend this place!
Teresa
Delicious. Very light and tasty. From the outside, and the area, you have no idea what awaits you inside.

BYOB! Walked next store to the food mart, bought a 40ozer, and they brought me an iced glass and a bottle opener! Service was great, friendly and respectful staff. I had the Penang curry with shrimp, and summer rolls as an appetizer. Delicious and didn't break the bank! I'll be back!

Excellent food, cozy atmosphere. Wow, I found Thai Dee online on a recent trip to San Antonio and the reviews promised great food. I was not disappointed. The food was authentic with little American-influenced variation. I ordered the golden shrimp as an app and they were plentiful. Fresh, crispy, and a unique twist on a typical thai dish. Perfectly paired with a thicker than normal plum sauce. Perfect balance of sweet, crunch, and fresh shrimp. The Panang noodle dish is a typical thai curry dish with a creamy, lightly spiced curry sauce, velvety smooth chicken and just a touch of basil. The noodles stayed fluffy and crunchy in the sauce and were a nice compliment to the smoothness of the other ingredients.

Good intentioned food and service, but the owners cut corners and try to maximize profit margins constantly. I've spent a years in Thailand, so I do know the dishes they serve. My favorites used to be the best there, but they slowly cheapened the ingredients to the point that the asian noodles taste more like spaghetti, and the medley of vegetables has become more limited and with less variety. I know how much it costs to make this stuff, and I know when they are taking advantage of less knowledgeable customers by trying to pass of Thai street food as gourmet.
Ericaa99123
I went to thai dee because of all the great reviews so we were very excited. I first received the tom yum soup which was very sweet instead of tangy like I'm used to from asia kitchen. Then came the fried calimari which was great. The pad thai was terrible, I was so disapointed. It had a very strong smokie flavor that I have never tasted in pad thai ever, it was hard to eat. Maybe the great reviews were for dishes that we didn't order but I don't want to try again. We are still on the hunt for the best tasting pad thai.
David_America
Love it! First time, we were starving, order summer rolls get the peanut sauce and summer roll special sauce, great combo. Calamari, chicken rice soup and pad Thai all super. Toi the owner can to the table, and thanked us, call in advance for the whole crispy fish, all too fun for not much cost.
Christa Collins
I chose to try this place based on all of the positive reviews I read. It's about 10 minutes from where I work. I ordered the chicken pad Thai and you have to tell them if you want it spicy. They don't have 1-5 like other places I've tried but instead mild, medium or hot. I chose medium and its definately strong enough to give me the sniffles. The portion is HUGE for $8 and comes with 2 spring rolls. It is definately delicious and I will for sure be ordering from here again! Some reviews said its hard to find but it wasn't. There's a sign on the street so its easy to see.

Red Curry Lunch Special. Truly a beautiful culinary experience. Red Curry with Shrimp. So creamy and full of flavor. Indeed a true gem of a Thai Restaurant.. Who would have thought a little hidden gem on Blanco about two blocks from Jackson Keller. Give it a try, the wait staff is so very respectful and the food was a dream come true. I got it to go and came home and put it on my plates, so I could do the food some justice (picture wise) since it was (to go).

Starting out the weekend, we dined with Thai Dee on a Friday evening. What a great Thai restaurant! We heard this was about as authentic to Thai cuisine as you can get in SA.

Now, talk about a hole-in-the-wall from the outside! Thai Dee is somewhat tiny and easily missed driving by. However, never judge a book by its cover, for sure. Inside the restaurant, everything is very clean and comfy-cozy. I suggest you arrive early for a table. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. One interesting note is if you want alcohol, it is BYOB. Kinda quaint.

Our server was friendly and helpful with suggestions. Since I prefer my dishes very mild with natural flavors, while my partner enjoys his hellfire inferno-style spicy, both of us were able to be accommodated.

For our appetizer, I always am drawn to the Satay (my chicken-on-a-stick), so we had those. The peanut sauce was probably the best I have ever had. We also ordered the Spring Rolls after hearing they were excellent. Both appetizers were tasty.

My partner chose the Three Flavors Fish, which was seasoned with garlic, bell peppers, tomatoes, pineapple, and onions. He said was was very good. I ordered the Combination Fried Rice. This dish is stir-fried tomatoes and onions along with beef, chicken, and shrimp sprinkled with cilantro. This rice dish is extremely flavorful.

While we were too full by the end of our meal for dessert, their offerings look enticing. We did order Thai iced coffee, which was actually pretty good.

I wish this was on my side of town~!. Wow~ from the moment my husband & I walked through the door we were treated so well & it was obvious that they cared deeply about our experience. All of the staff was very attentive & when the waitress took the order she was sure to be thorough in making sure you knew what you were getting (EX: that dish is spicy, this dish already comes w/ rice & so on). We ordered quite a bit not realizing how big the portion sizes would be =LOL= but also to take some home for the kids.

Tom Yum Soup: Spicy & sour soup w/ fresh mushroom, tomatoes, peppers, onions & chicken. It has a tangy taste w/ a tiny bit of spice. It was pretty good~
Chicken Fried Rice: Was too die for~ OMGoodness, very well done.
Pepper Steak: It was flavorful & had a bite! Spicy & yummy.
Sanseeha Thai Pork Lettuce Wrap: The pork is in a tomato & tamarind sauce served w/ crispy noodles that you wrap into the lettuce & enjoy. I am not a pork eater normally, so this was something I could do without but my daughter very much enjoyed it.
Thai Tea: Was yummy but I do prefer it more at another Thai restaurant.

We will be loyal customers here, the quality of the food was well done & the customer service is phenomenal. It was empty when we entered for our early dinner (3:30- 4ish) but got pretty busy soon after. I can't wait to go back & have lunch dates w/ my teenagers. When we first pulled up you could tell it is in a rougher side of town (which we don't frequent at all). The sign for Thai Dee had sadly been tagged (spray painted) & the store to the left has bars from top to bottom which made us think twice prior to going in =LOL= but it seriously, will not disappoint. Give it a chance, when you do enter, the inside is a lot more spacious than you would think from the outside & nicely decorated. Any time we are on this side of town, I will most definitely make a stop. Give it a try~ it's a new FAV. of mine. :)

THE Best. I've had tastes of various dishes that others have ordered and they are all good, but I have a wonderful addiction for the Green Curry with Eggplant and my choice of "meat," Tofu. You can request spicy dishes be toned down or up as you prefer. The best part is I always have enough to take home for lunch the next day. The service is excellent and it is obvious everyone here is concerned that you have a good experience every time you come. My only regret is the Mango Sticky Rice isn't available all year long.
Vv88
Pretty much the best Thai food in San Antonio. Only negative is that the place is too small. I've had to leave disappointed because it was so packed!
Nsnelson
This hole in the wall offers the best Thai cuisine in San Antonio.
Ke Le
Reliable Thai cuisine. Terrible outside appearance, I mean it's right by a gas station, but once you're in, you forget about all of that. The food is amazing, the customer service is great. Don't pass this up. I especially recommend the panang curry, the pad woon sen, and the pumpkin dishes.

Hidden Gem- Amazing!. We found this little place while visiting San Antonio and were incredibly impressed! We came about 15 minutes before their closing time, but were graciously welcomed and given excellent service. All of their food is very fresh, with wonderful, subtle flavor combinations. The Masuman curry (chicken) was awesome! Our drinks never stayed empty for more than two minutes, and the owner came over to talk to us, and is a very nice gentleman. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are very generous. I will definitely keep coming back each time I visit- it is hidden gems like these that make it so exciting to travel! 10 out of 10!

Great food, portions, prices, and services.

My husband and I thought that we'd venture off and try another Thai restaurant then our usual (thai Ochoa, Thai spice and Thai cafe) just to see if we can find another favorite and based on the reviews and the overwhelming favorable votes we wanted to try this place out. We ordered the egg rolls which were very delightful and flavorful and had high hopes based on the appetizer. My husband ordered his usual, beef salad, and I my favorite, pad lee mao. Before we ordered my husband specifically asked if the beef is marinated in the usual fish/line sauce and not just drizzled like some Thai restaurants we've encountered and the young lady said yes so we ordered. When the food came out my husband gave a quick glance at me as we knew the beef salad would not be what he was expecting...sure enough it had no flavor or resemblance of what he was used too and typically there is cucumbers and the lettuce is slightly marinated as well. My dish, looked appetizing with all sorts of vegetables but taking the first bite all I could taste was oil :-/ absolutely no flavor whatsoever!! I thought maybe it was that particular area and dug deeper but still nothing! The only saving grace was the garlic chili sauce I had to drizzle on it :-(. Needless to say we won't be back. Maybe we're just spoiled and I'm sure other dishes reign supreme here but not these! For me it's a thumbs down including the parking!

Diamond in the Rough. Talk about a hole in the wall. Once you walk through the hole you are magically transported to some other realm. Go by and you will understand. The food is great. This is my dad's all-time favorite Thai spot. I treat him here for his birthday and he could not be happier. The staff is friendly. You can bring your own bottle of wine or beer and they will provide setups at a nominal price. Panang curry is very good. It may have some kick to it but I cannot stop eating it. Let me fore warn you, the Angry Ocean plate is not for the faint at heart. If you want some kick then knock yourself out and get a plate.
Dan
Great prices; great food. Like most other reviews, don't be fooled by the exterior and sketchy looking venue; the food is absolutely worth it. Excellent service. Great, authentic Thai food. Will gladly return on my next trip to SA.

The best. There are so many good reviews on here that I don't think I will have anything new to add. I have only been here once but the one time I went I can honestly say this is the best Thai food that I have had. I had the spring rolls and a noodle dish with chicken (sorry I can't remember the name!). They were both amazing. Both were very fresh. I also learned that you can bring your own adult beverages, which I thought was kind of fun. The servers and staff were very pleasant and the meals came out rather quickly. I'm glad I finally got around to trying this place and I look forward to going back.

Our Thai Experience--Great Food. 4 Feb 12. On this evening we really enjoyed our meal by experiencing something new. The food was really good. The restaurant allows customers to bring in their own preferred drink (BYOB). Not a bad idea for those who would rather bring in their own reasonably priced liquid. The appetizers we tried included: Egg Rolls, Pot Stickers, and Satay. The entrees included: Cashew Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, and Triple Delight. The desserts included: Coconut and Red Bean Ice Cream. We will return for sure.

New Favorite. I almost made the biggest mistake by not giving this place a shot. On the outside, it is not much to look at and there is limited parking. My husband has had this place on his radar, so I decided to give it a shot. From the moment we sat we had excellent service. We started with the egg rolls and the tom yum soup. The flavor of the egg rolls were delightful, and they did not fall apart while you bite into them. I also loved the flavor of the tom yum soup. I love the acid and cilantro in the broth. I order the lemongrass chicken as my main dish and my husband got the Pad See Ewe. Both were delicious and we will definitely be making this place one of our regular spots.

We loved everything about it. Don't be thrown off by the exterior, once you enter the door you will be transported to a delicious and friendly place :) My boyfriend, my two-year old daughter and I went to Thai Dee on a Saturday night. We ordered the satay for an appetizer and really enjoyed the spicy dipping sauce. For my meal, I ordered Beef Panang Noodles. The curry sauce is DELICIOUS. I will be licking it out of the bottom of my take-out box :) My boyfriend ordered Moo Ping for his meal. The peanut sauce wasn't the best I've ever had but still very good. The service was outstanding. Everyone in the restaurant was very friendly and checked with us multiple times to make sure everything was to our liking. We will definitely go back.

BEST GREEN CURRY!. This place was so delicious! They have the best curry. The green curry is my favorite. Looks a little rough on the outside, but it was very cute inside.

Best Thai food in San Antonio, great service.

Very Good Menu Options. I was especially impressed by their veggie rice that had actual fresh veggies (including tomato) and their sticky rice with coconut ice cream. This was my first time trying this dessert and i was opposed as i dont like coconut unless its fresh cut but one bite and i was hooked!
The curry was a bit spicy but i admit i was a beginner and didnt know how to order food to fit my tastes.

Not worth returning. The best thing here was the Thai coffee and the Tom Kha Gia soup. My Phai Thai noodles I ordered, which I have had from a million places before, had very little flavor. I did not taste any of that distinct sauce flavor but just fried noodles. Got my kids the chicken fried rice which tasted about the same. Just fired but not with any of the soy flavor usually used for fried rice. We drove about 15 minutes off our itinerary too based on reviews so wasted time. I am from Kansas City and grew up eating different restaurants and also fly to LA often having it and this was one of the worse places aside from once in Germany but go figure.

First time here and definately not the last. Food was great service

Thai DEEEEEEEEE. First of all, don't let the seedy location deter you. Thai Dee wasn't blessed with the best location, and over half the people in the immediate vicinity are probably just dropping by the Corner Food Mart next door for a forty-ounce Olde English 800 and a pack of Black-n-Milds. Don't feel guilty about the relief you feel after surviving the walk through the filthy parking lot and enter an quaint space full of families, businessmen, and attractive twenty-somethings that likely herald from another part of town. Everybody feels it.

But that diamond-in-the-rough feel is precisely why Thai Dee deserves four stars. Years of excellent service, inviting atmosphere, low prices, and of course great Thai food have earned the steady devotion of well-to-do clientele who are still down to earth enough to bring their own bottle.

The decor is a bit haphazard and incomplete, and slightly tacky goes without saying, but the lightly-stained wood paneling and plastic palm fronds accomplish the low-pressure South-Pacific feel. New furniture has been added in recent years, so loners, couples, small and large parties are freely accommodated. Gaze in wonder at the hundreds of bits of paper announcements taped to the wall behind the register, which look like they could have been fired onto the wall all at once after being loaded into the barrel of a shotgun.

The service is excellent. We were seated almost immediately and furnished with cold glasses and an opener for our BYOB six pack. After ordering, our first item, sweet and sour vegetable soup, came in under 10 minutes. Well-proportioned and perfect for two, it was prepared with a restraint that is often wanting in Asian cuisine. Fresh vegetables bathed in a broth not too spicy, not too sour, not too salty, not too sweet.

According to one of my party who is familiar with the dish, the chicken satay was on the right road but not quite there. Still enjoyable, she said, but not as interesting as a spicy peanut sauce should be.

Our main course consisted of two of Thailand's national dishes, Pad Thai and Red Curry with shrimp. The Pad Thai also avoided several pit-falls, including excessive grease and a disproportionate measure of rice noodles. I loved the Red Curry, having had it several times, but again, one of my party found fault. "Not sweet enough," she said, wrinkling the bridge of her nose.

But the highlight of the Thai Dee experience is the humility and gratitude displayed by the staff when I approached the register to pay. I believe I was thanked by five different people, multiple times, and the two behind the register bowed several times. You know what? Just for that I'm going to give Thai Dee FIVE STARS. One of my party would probably find fault with that too.

Excellent Thai. Very authentic. Tom Ga Kai Soup was delicious. Probably some of the best sticky white rice I have ever had.

The last time I was here was nine years ago and the good is still the same and yummy.

Very Good Thai food, wonderful wait staff. I grew up in Thailand since a young boy. This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in town. It may not be flashy but they have worked very hard to create a wonderful, friendly and comfortable atmosphere.

The food is extremely flavorful and true to its origins. The mix of spices is just right. The heat has been reduced to accommodate the western palate though they will adjust to your palate if necessary.

Alcohol is not served but you are welcome to bring your own. I believe this adds to the experience as one doesn't have to deal with the ridiculous mark-up generally charged by restaurants.

I am not a fan of the green curry noodles...strange noodle texture, but wonderful curry flavor with a good kick. the kee mao was fantastic. i'll add more to this review as i work my way through the extensive menu. worth a visit.

Take a chance. This is the kind of pearl in an oyster experience that everyone hopes to find by taking a chance on little dive restaurants in strip malls. (but if there are other surprises like this one in SA, I haven't been lucky enough to find them) The outside doesn't look promising, except for all the Hondas and Acuras in the parking lot. But inside is a rare treat. They've done as much as they can to make it not feel like the rundown strip mall it is, and it does not feel like a dive inside. But the food is the reason to visit--it's so wonderful. It's hard to find really good Thai food in SA, but this menu is interesting (pumpkin curry, e.g.), the food is always delish, and the servers are friendly and prompt. What more could you want? Oh, low prices and a BYOB policy--you got it.

Amazing Thai food and very authentic. Crisp veggies, fresh coconut milk, I ate way too much.

Some of the best Thai food in San Antonio!. Great food! They're a bit lacking in the spice department for my taste (to be fair, when I want spicy, I mean SPICY) but at least they are willing to provide plenty of chili sauce! MMMMgood!

Panang Chicken takes me back to Thailand. Okay, I have never been to Thailand. However, I do love Panang chicken and if I were to ever visit Thailand and eat it there, then Thai Dee's version is what I would hope to find there. The sauce has just the right amount of coconut and panang curry in it. The basil tasted fresh like it was just picked that morning. The chilis gave my taste buds the punch I was hoping for. The place is a little lacking in the atmosphere department and the decor is a bit aging, but the food is a winner and worth the trip.

Very good.. We have been there many times, and have never been disappointed. food is tasty, fresh, flavorful, affordable and not too "heavy". waitress is very kind.

Thai Curry Heaven. If you like curry and trying serveral different kinds, Thai Dee offers a wide selection of curries. Panang is a classic favorite and the new love of my life is the Pumpkin Curry with Shrimp.

Great food, great ambience and location, great service... Be sure to try the shrimp dumplings

Really great thai!. This has to be one of the best thai restaurants in San Antonio, hands down. A very much overlooked gem in the Blanco Rd., North Star Mall area that can slip away from you if you don't look close enough. The owners are very polite, professional, and i swear the nice lady working there has a photographic memory. The Pad Woonsen is a must. Tempura Battered Veggies or Tofu are great for starting an end to your hunger. Never a disappointment. Thank you for existing Thai Dee! One superb independent local establishment. Keep up the good work!

Good if you are nearby. Visited this restaurant by recommendation. It is a open area sitting, nice décor and plenty of room between tables. There is a sign at the entrance with daily specials. The prices are very reasonable, and the menu has enough items to make you ask for a few more minutes before deciding. Do not miss the crunchy shrimp as a starter, really delicious. The items ordered were tasty and flavorful. The amount of food was satisfying.

Great food and service. My family and I have made several visits to this place over the last 4 years. We have tried several dishes, but our favorites are the Pad Thai, garlic chicken, soba noodles, shrimp rolls, vegetable rolls, and the chicken fried rice. The food is always fresh, made to your liking, and the service is excellent.
The Brown Bag Review
After our orders were placed we got to looking around at the interior of the restaurant and was amazed at the amount of wood paneling that was on the walls and ceiling. This wasn’t your run of the mill crappy imported paneling that you get at the big box lumber stores either. It was all hand crafted and hand stained, put onto the walls and ceiling a section at a time, so someone put a lot of time, money and love into decorating the restaurant interior.
The San Antonio Palate
The inside of the restaurant feels warm and quaint. We were greeted right away and told to choose any table. It was a cold evening, so we started out with some hot tea served in a cute little pot.

On Blanco Road, in a more worn torn part of town, is a hidden treasure. Veiled by the untended buildings and cluttered lots in the area, the barred windows of a neighbor, and a ragged exterior obscuring its inner greatness, Thai Dee appeared an unlikely j
Passepartout-Too-Too
Could a great restaurant hide in any less promising spot than the cramped, litter-strewn, delapidated little strip center inhabited by Thai Dee? It seems unlikely. Yet there it is. Fight off the competition for the one remaining parking space, carefully lock your car and step over the rubbish, and enter what I firmly believe is the best Thai restaurant, bar none, in this part of the world.
