Sweet Yams

I am so glad I found this spot while in San Antonio! I like to be healthy even when traveling and that is not always an easy task. San Antonio has great food but it is heavy, so this place is a savior! The food was fantastic and SO FRESH! I will eat here every day that I am here. The food and service was wonderful. I do wish their hours were more extensive.

This place was awesome! It has unique warm/functional/positive environment. They’ve been in business for 10 years and it’s most likely due to the combination of the service, tasty food, and how well they’ve kept up with the place. I ordered a yam/chicken/rice bowl with Thai spiced sauce and it was delicious. I would recommend coming here with a medium crowd (or alone like I did)and having a nice meal. The environment supports it. The reviews speak for themselves.

Don't like vegan food? This place will make you change your mind! Everything has just the right amount of spice to liven up your tastebuds and health concious options! Coupled with a comfy outdoor patio, chill music selection and a very helpful and friendly staff, Sweet Yams is a great place for a quick lunchtime bite!

I made a review years ago. And yes I'm going to leave another one. I feel like after the years this place amazes me even more. I wanna just yell it when I take a bite. And I know it's all so good that's that's the things.. it's better then what I even imagine. It's like when you make that family meal and everyone one is at the table. That's how it feels. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! And I'm so happy my family gets to have a piece of it.

It was my first time trying this place because a coworker raved about it and I must say it was really good, but I do have a some complaints. First complaint my salad was good except it had some old greens in the mix. Secondly the sweet potato cupcake was very tiny and disagree with the price since it is a mini cupcake or maybe the menu should say mini for the sweet potato pie and the cupcake. I had the sesame ginger salmon and it really good actually. It great flavor and serving portion was perfect. I would recommend this place to others and I would go back. Oh yeah and forgot to mention my coworker tried the chili and he absolutely raved about it so I would suggest trying that but know it does have a little kick to it.

Voted third best chef in San Antonio. This place is a true slow food dive with welcoming funky character. The food is amazing. I ordered the Ginger Sesame Chicken - tender and bursting with flavor at every bite. The balance of accompanying brown rice (the chewy short grain variety) and leafy greens was perfect! Healthy, delicious food is their focus. Shannon and Gus and staff are super friendly and hard working. While waiting for your food, you feel like you're at a roadside stand on the road to Hana, surrounded by new friends and family. Lots of people were ordering to go, as all seating areas are semi-outside and subject to weather conditions. All in all, this is a delicious adventure not to be missed!
