Went for dinner food was great staff was friendly and helpful. Food got out fast.
Great food friendly staff and great atmosphere! We will definitely be back!
We came from the UK and wanted some Tex-Mex. We asked the staff for recommendations and the food did not disappoint. My taste buds were tingling from the fresh salsa, the Texas sized margarita and the fresh fajitas. Such a great atmosphere and brilliant service, well rounded with some amazing food. Would definitely recommend. Valentino was a great server too, and made our visit even more enjoyable, especially as he recommended that margarita!!
I had been here about 5 years ago and wanted my partner to have the experience as well. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Due to the heat, we chose indoors. The chips were good and the salsa was even better. The guacamole was made in front of us and was delicious.
The margaritas were obviously the star of the show. If you can’t finish them, they will give you a to-go cup.
Our food was ordered and was delivered in a timely manner. Everything was really good. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly.
We will definitely be back to try different drinks and food. I would recommend this place to anyone.
We stopped in to cool off from the 99° weather, and Fred took great care of us. We drank down 2 sweet teas each and enjoyed the chips and salsa and some Chili Con Queso. Come on in, it's tasty!
There were 3 of us dining. Just decided to do a random walk on the river, and we came across this joint. Not a bad spot, I would definitely recommend this place. Food is reasonably priced for a tourist locality. I had the Enchiladas Verdes (4 jalapeno spice), my wife had the four street tacos meal, and my son had the regular enchilada dinner with red sauce. The Enchilada Verdes de pollo were a good Spicey dish, but I felt it was a bit tart, maybe from the tomatillos they used, or could be too much vinegar. The tacos tasted like they used pulled pork. Know I love bbq, but in a street taco style, I really didn't care for it. I just felt it didn't work for me. My son said the beef red sauce Enchiladas were great.
We also had the sangria Rita's and a frozen margarita that were good. The basic Rita's were at a better price if you want to get your drink on. They have about 7 different traditional Rita's among other type cocktails costing from $7-$27. They all look good and worth a try if you want to spend a little more dollar on yo drink. Have fun and enjoy, atmosphere was in point.
July 2023:
It was lunch time on the River Walk and my wife wanted Mexican food. So we walked around until Rita's on the River caught our eye. They just opened for the day and we decided to take a seat inside. The staff was nice and the place was very open where even inside can see people walking by. There were many areas here with decorative backdrops to take photos especially in the small festive courtyard.
With country music playing in the background I looked over the menu. The first item I selected was Chili Con Queso. This arrived very quickly to our table. It was very cheesy with a hint of heat to it. The chips were ok and had better, but enjoyed it.
The main course was Rita’s Original Enchiladas which decided to split it with my wife. I was saving room for a planned dinner later in the day. The enchiladas were delightful and had nice flavor. The Mexican rice was devouring. Overall we had a great experience and enjoyed the food we had
Excellent food and margaritas! There were four of us, and we all agreed the food was the best Mexican we'd had in a while. I had the fish tacos (perfect!). Boyfriend had the ribs, and they were very tasty (I had one). My son loved his enchiladas. The rice had a chipotle spice, I think, which was delicious.
Server seemed to be a rookie, but she was super nice, so it wasn't too much of an issue.
Rita’s on the River is a great place for a margarita or something to eat. Convenient to the riverwalk and super nice service people. The margaritas here are better than most we have found on the riverwalk. A fun place with plenty outside seating and large fans for the warm months. We had cocktails while watching the river activity, a great time.
My Daughter and I visited Rita's for the first time last week. We were seated immediately and served in a short time. The Staff was friendly, professional, and very attentive! We thought the food was absolutely delicious and seasoned perfectly! There was one seasoning I don't normally taste in enchiladas that I couldn't figure out. It gave great depth to the dish. The chips were thin and tasty but strong enough to pick up the delicious salsa that had just the right amount of heat. The food was reasonably priced! We will definitely visit again.
They are wonderful. Our restaurant for Tex Mex all the time. We always eat and drinks here when we are visiting San Antonio from Houston.
The margaritas are extremely good!!!
